Wow. Aside from Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich (now there's a pairing for you), I can't think of anyone who's come up with a better response to the Truthers, and theirs were much more succinct. Noam gives what appears to be a very much more carefully thought-out response that should have the Truthers saying, "Damn it, he's right! We should be submitting this stuff to the professional engineering societies and similar groups, instead of moaning about the Left Gatekeepers like Chomsky."

Chomsky has spent basically his entire professional life criticizing US government policy to the point where he's far better known for that than he is for his work in linguistics. If there was even a shred of possibility of anything the truthers babble about being true, I imagine ol' Noam would be all over it.
