Building Wut Unveils Ad

LOL! The usual bit about how "nobody knows that another building, which was not hit by a plane, collapsed that day." I have always said that Building 7 is a thin reed to build popular support for the Troof, for the simple reason that it takes too many logical leaps to get to the point where it fits in with the conspiracy theory.

Note as well that the Troofers have scaled back their fundraising objective without quite mentioning it. Let's do the math again. At 9-11 Flogger, we are exhorted to "watch the ad that one million New Yorkers will see," and reminded that each $750 donated will result in another 10,000 seeing the ad. So to get the one million viewers, they will need to air 100 ads. Times 750 is $75,000, which is roughly $15,000 per week, which they only missed by about 35% in the first week.

It is interesting to see more of a side view of the collapse (at about 16-17 seconds in), because it refutes Box Boy's claim that the collapse was symmetrical, and straight down through the path of most resistance.

Well, Under That Standard the Entire Truth Movement is Frivolous

April Gallop's lawsuit got laughed out of court today. This of course would be no surprise to anybody who's been reading this blog; both James and I covered some of the problems with the lawsuit here and here. But the judge in the case went right to what the lawyers refer to as the res of the matter:

Or, as Google puts it aptly:

Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory

Okay, so the A&E 9-11 Fruitcakes are about to celebrate their 1000th "professional" architect or engineer to sign onto their cruddy petition. Of course, it's coming almost 2-1/2 years later than Richard Gage originally predicted (remember 9-11-07 was the original target date), and each anniversary after that Gage also established as a a goal. And while we can laugh and point out that the average age of the 9-11 Truth Architect and Engineers member is "emeritus", at the same time, 1000 is a significant number in our culture, and you can understand why they would consider this a milestone.

But what about this bit of bar-setting in an info posting over there:

We would like to double this accomplishment into 2000 signers before summer of 2010 and with your help we can do it. If each and every one of you will talk to ten friends or colleagues and sign up just two of them, then we will succeed.

I'm going to predict here and now that they will fall about 950 signers short of that goal by the summer of 2010. Way to go, Richard!

Yet Moron the NYC Ballot Initiative

Big Al at JREF actually bothered to stop by City Hall in NY and find out why the Troofers failed again.

The short version is that they didn't have enough valid signatures. Further, the whole cockamamie approach was found to be an overreach:

First, the federal government has jurisdiction over an investigation into the attacks that took place on September 11 as well as the causes of those attacks. Establishing a local commission to conduct an investigation far exceeds the proper scope and purpose of the petition process of the MHRL (Municipal Home Rule Law). Second, the petition fails to provide an adequate financing plan for the Commission as required by section 37 of the MHRL. Third, the petition's method of designating Commissioners conflicts with state laws relating to the election or appointment of public officers and the residency of public officers, Fourth, the petition overreaches in its attempt to confer a range of law enforcement and prosecutorial powers on the Commission.

Gage Continues to Flog the 1000 Architects Idea

Yet another fiasco waiting to happen:

The first mention I can find of this idea here at SLC was on May 29, when the number of Architects and (Electrical) Engineers was at 395. Today, 51 days later, it's at 410. You would have to be retarded to believe that number will grow to 1000 by September 11, 2008. Realistically they have no chance to reach 500; my best guess is that they'll be at 425 or so.

Why do they set themselves up to fail like this? I suspect because they really believe that 84% of the population are "Truthers". Let's remember, these are the people who thought Ron Paul was going to win the Republican nomination handily (and they probably still think he has a chance at the convention).

The juggernaut thing itself (first appears about 1:30 into the film) is pretty cool; looks like something out of the comic books.
