Williamson to Study Holocaust

He got demoted from his job as head of the seminary and intends to do some research.

In the Saturday article, Spiegel quotes Williamson saying he will not recant and that he would need more evidence to believe the Holocaust really happened.

"If I find this proof, then I will correct myself," he said. "But that will require some time."

One hopes that he does not do this studying at IHR or the Adelaide Institute.

Again, no discussion of Father Fruitcake's 9-11 denial.

Update: Here's a recent interview with Monsignor Moonbat where he expresses his Holocaust Denial:

Father Fruitcake No Longer Excommunicated

We talked a month or so ago about nutbar extraordinaire Richard Williamson, who combines 9-11 Truth and Holocaust Denial with a leadership position in a schismatic offshoot of Roman Catholicism. Turns out Bishop Batcrap is now back in the good graces of the Holy See, although it remains to be seen if he will be affirmed by the pope as a Bish.

Among the men reinstated Saturday was Richard Williamson, a British-born cleric who in an interview last week said he did not believe that six million Jews died in the Nazi gas chambers. He has also given interviews saying that the United States government staged the Sept. 11 attacks as a pretext to invade Afghanistan.

I'm inclined to cut the pope a little slack for now. All the removal of the excommunication sentence means is that Monsignor Moonbat is not condemned to dance in the flames for eternity. Yet.

But you know, if there really was a Spectre around to dish out ironic punishment, isn't it obvious that Priest Paranoid would be taken back to WTC-1 on the morning of 9-11 and given the good news that the government was not going to do a controlled demolition of the building? Or to Auschwitz in 1944?

What a slimeball.

Father Fruitcake

Had not heard about this guy before, but he's quite a character. He's been excommunicated from the Catholic Church for some 20 years, and yes, the old adage that if you scratch a Truther, you'll find a Holocaust Denier underneath applies:

A senior bishop of the Lefebvrist Society of St Pius X (SSPX) has endorsed the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a notorious anti-Semitic forgery that enjoys widespread currency in neo-Nazi circles.

Richard Williamson, one of four bishops ordained by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, told The Catholic Herald that the document - which supposedly reveals a Jewish plot to dominate the world - was authentic.

I like this description of him:

Dr Shimon Samuels, the centre's director of international relations, described Williamson as "the Borat of the schismatic Catholic far-Right" and said that he was "a clown, but a dangerous clown".
