Uncle Fetzer on PBS

Uncle Fetzer, right before giving his impassioned "Star Wars death beams blew up the World Trade Center" speech, appeared on a PBS station in Tucson. He is getting better at this, he is smart enough not to lay the really stupid stuff on the average television viewer, and instead goes on at length about all of the learned scholars in his group. I especially found it amusing when he said that his "society" was to unify the scholastic efforts in researching 9/11. Yeah, you guys are really unified.

LOL That is the mantra of the 9/11 denial movement. There are so many different theories, with no consistency whatsoever, that anytime someone brings one of them up you can immediately denounce it as a strawman argument. You could carry this game on forever.

It goes something like this:

Fred believes 2+2=3
Bob believes 2+2=6
Joe believes 2+2=0

We make a blog and start debunking these theories:

James: Well, obviously 2+2 does not equal 3. You can figure it out for yourself. Take 3 apples and try to divide them in two piles. You won't get two even piles.

Bob: Ofcourse not! Stop picking on that old strawman! Nobody REALLY believes that 2+2=3!

Joe: Yeah! I can't believe you guys. Always picking on the weakest theories.

James: Fine, ok, well we can easily prove that 2+2 isn't 0 either...

Bob: Pah! Another strawman! Why don't you guys ever address the REAL argument?!?!

Fred: Yeah! OBVIOUSLY 2+2 isn't zero....

James: Well it's definitely not 6...

Fred and Joe: OBVIOUSLY! Stop with the strawmen already!!!

James: ......

Fred, Bob and Joe, in unison:

What's important is that we're asking questions and that it's obvious that the answer is not 4!

That's alright Juji, I wouldn't expect any twoofer to do math.

I just watched the video, and I really can't believe this a$$hole is still repeating the underwriters laboratories myth. I had to watch it twice just to make sure I heard him right. That was one of the first myths ever debunked about 9/11, yet somehow Fetzer doesn't seem to realize it. "Scholar" indeed.

And the comparison of the WTC to the Eiffel Tower just killed me. It's things like that which help me understand why the twoofers always accuse each other of being shills. Some of these claims are just so idiotic that even other twoofers can't understand how anyone with half a brain could really believe them.

Niiiiice. More strawman issues getting media attention.

You DO NOT understand what a strawman is. If ANYONE makes an argument and we destroy it, it isn't a straw man. A straw man is when we take your argument, pretend it's weaker than it is, and then destroy that argument. And as any sane person knows (you're not one of us, so you can ignore this), it's impossible to make your arguments any weaker.

911coverup:

The more the debunkers work at it, the less "real" issues you will have. hwne it first started as a movement, the truth movement claimed all of its theories as legit. Then as time went on, and the stupid silly theories were debunked, the turthers began to cry foul. Then, desperate to keep their movement going, they accepted the debunkings, but claim that what was debunked were just "strawman" issues, or the "real out there" theories.

Eventually, we will debunk all of the 911 truth theories, don't worry. And as we do, the number of "strawman" arguements you will claim we are debunking will go up, but this will also eventually leave you with no "real" arguments either.

So now "Starwars Death Beams" is legit in the movement, and when we make that look (any more than it does already) look rediculous, you will claim that as strawman, and provide us with another equally lame, but fresher theory. Then we will debunk that, and you will call it strawman, and so on, and so on...

Why does he get such softball questions? Who is the interviewer?

400 scholars? When did they get this number?

There are around 400 people in his organization. As for the number who are working, tenured research professors at 4 year institutions, probably less than 30, and most of them are in philosophy or other humanities.
