Frequently Asked Questions Version 1
In an effort to avoid answering the following questions over and over again:
Q. Why don't you post a debunking of my favorite conspiracy theory? It's because you can't, right?
A. There is a limit to what we can do here. We're mainly interested in debunking Loose Change because that's what is getting all the attention right now. That will inevitably involve debunking bits and pieces of other theories, of course. Note as well, that unlike some of the "experts" in the CT crowd, we're not going to pretend expertise in areas that we don't have it. I'm not skilled in metallurgy, so I'm not going to take on whether the steel melted and at what temperature. I can point you to articles and other experts, but I can't really check their work.
Q. Why don't you talk about WTC 7?
A. I am working on a post on WTC 7, but that clearly is the most difficult problem in the entire 9-11 situation. Everybody agrees that its collapse came as a surprise, at least initially. I don't believe that the NIST report on WTC 7 has been completed. Even the real experts can't be 100% certain what really caused it. Again, I'm not a building engineer. I can point to the explanation proposed in Popular Mechanics, but I couldn't tell you if it's really reasonable or not without a couple years' education.
Q. You point out that the two WTC towers don't look like a controlled demolition. What about WTC 7?
A. It looks more like a controlled demolition. That doesn't mean that I buy the story that it was a controlled demolition; as stated above I'm working on a long post on WTC 7 that I hope to have ready early next week. Yes, it goes down from the bottom up, much like a controlled demolition, and completely unlike the WTC towers. There are abundant reasons to believe that WTC 7 came down as a result of fires and damage from the debris from the two towers.
Q. Why are you so mean to the creators of this film? They're just asking questions that deserve answers.
A. I don't believe that for a second. What the creators of Loose Change have done is accuse the government of conspiring and then carrying out the deliberate murder of thousands of innocent Americans. What's more they have done it on the flimsiest of evidence. There is no doubt in my mind that they have ignored obvious problems with their conspiracy theory in an effort to make it more palatable. They are immature young men who see nothing wrong with ignoring the facts, which means that I have no more respect for them.

With Regards to WTC 7...
I was at ground zero on 9/11. I SAW the planes hit from my window. (I worked at 45 Broadway and had a view of the towers from my office.
After much of the dust settled (although there was still a lot of fallout in the air), I had to walk to Brooklyn from Downtown Manhattan. I walked past WTC 7 at around 1pm.
Let me tell you, WTC 7 was on fire and leaning over a lot. Any idiot could see it was going to fall, and fall soon.
The force of the buildings falling was like an earthquake and I was about 3 blocks away and on the 11th floor of my building. When the first building fell, everyone in my office thought a plane had hit our building, or the stock exchange (which was basically across the street). It was that strong.
Of course 7 WTC would be damaged by millions of tons of debris slamming into it. If I took a wrecking ball to the lower floors and then set them on fire the building would collapse too.
The force of the towers falling was like a million wrecking balls hitting the foundation of 7 WTC.
The issue of the 'goverment' carrying out the attacks is erroneous. What should have been stated is that 'individuals' within the government were responsible for carrying out the attacks. Perhaps a criminal investigatin ito the act might help, but I don't forsee that ever happening.
The building was leaning? Is there any video footage of that? Is there any offical account of the video leaning? If so did it lean and then fall within itself in free fall time?
I would recommend viewing 9/11 Learn The Truth and I think you will 'hear' exactly what led to the collapse of the towers.
Oh and check the AP Story dated September 12th, 2001. You will find the 'offical' reason already being parroted in print: Crash, High Heat Fell Towers. Dam now that is some good investigative work using the video footage we all have seen and making that claim the DAY AFTER the event! We need more investigators of that nature in the Federal Goverment. And really the Attacking The Character arguement fallacy used to support criticizing opponents to this blog is getting old. That reminds me of kids from third grade.
