Well, defining it as "national" is a bit of a stretch, but apparently a heavy metal show is going to break its usual format of Pantera videos to show Loose Change.

Heavily skewed towards Spanish-language stations, but there is a Fox and an ABC affiliate in there as well. The sad thing is that the heavy metal audience is probably Loose Change's target demographic--20-something disaffected white males.

Don't you see, combining stupid videos and heavy metal has been done before. Big Poppa Hogan and the Metal Edge are thinking of bringing back Beavis and Butthead! But instead of having them rock out to Iron Butterfly, they're going to go nuts to Loose Change!

Every couple minutes the LC2 will be editted to include B&B doing their iconic "heh heh heh heh, you're stupid Beavis".

At least I hope that's what happens because it would actually make LC watchable.

Didn't someone give LC a MST3K treatment?

What a terrible idea. Imagine turning on your favorite program, getting ready to rock out, and all of a sudden you're being bukakked. Yikes!

most of them are likely internet savvy, and have already seen it...doubt it will have much impact. Besides if it does, most will come in looking for answers, to find the LC Forum in complete chaos, and a wealth of information here, with people to GUIDE them.

Is 4.3 a good rating? Been years since I paid attention to the nielsons.

It would be a very good rating for a show of this type. But it's clear to me that this figure is misleading. I think I can work out what it means, though.

"Rating" means "the percentage of televisions tuned to this program." This includes TVs that are not currently turned on. A 4.2 rating would be very healthy for a syndicated late night/overnight program.

Here's the catch: look down the list of cities the show is broadcast in. Most of them are very small markets. There's no New York, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, or other major TV markets. And of the few big markets the show is in, it is on stations that are low power, non-English, or otherwise infinitesimal.

When you see published ratings for prime time TV shows in TV Guide or some such place, they're talking about nationally. I'm sure this show isn't getting 4.2 nationally, because they're not even on the air most places. I doubt their list of stations makes up 0.5% of the total TV audience available.

So it stands to reason that any rating for this show is a percentage of only the TV markets it airs in. When you read that Fox's coverage of the baseball playoffs got a 5.5 rating (which the Friday game did), it's not on the same scale as this show's alleged 4.2 rating.

Furthermore, the show airs at midnight and noon on Saturday, when TV viewership is lower overall than it is on weeknights. Which makes a 4.2 rating even harder to believe. (Remember, he's talking about RATING, which is the percentage of all TVs. So, by definition, overnight shows will have tiny ratings, since most TVs are off at that time.)

There's no way that a Friday night show that airs on mostly low-power stations, and doesn't air at all in most of the Top 50 markets, is pulling a 4.2 rating. Even 0.42 would be a stretch.

So where did that number come from? It's probably a peak number for one of their local affiliates. I could see a program like this hitting 4.2 once in a blue moon, in some tiny town where small total numbers and/or favorable local demographics can skew the averages.

Alternatively, they might be confusing "rating" and "share." Rating is a percentage of all TVs. Share is a percentage of all TVs that are currently tuned into something. So share is always higher.

4.2 is supposedly 4.2% of all nielson households. For a syndicated music video show to a very niche audience? That's kindof....unbelievable

I'm trying to find a legitimate site for this program or something to verify it. Wikipedia has nothing for something that supposedly has a few million viewers, a search for Chris Big Poppa Hogan brings up a list of cease and desist letters from the Arkansas Securities Dept including one specifically to this guy about 6 weeks ago that I couldn't view because the PDF file came up blank.

The website for the TV show appears defunct to seriously lack any content and the label Mr big Poppa claims to run seems like a startup with nothing to it.

I just wanted to say, thank GOD for Pdoherty! I was really missing Nesnyc and his lunacy.

I do give Nesnyc the props for typing easily readable posts, though.

PDoherty, thanks for the laughs recently. Your ridiculous, hypocritical, non-sensical posts have had me rolling!

Another idiot pipes in using terms he doesn't understand.

You can't be both the richest nation the planet has ever seen and also be a Third World nation.

Well I just read the PDF about Big Poppa. Can't say I'm surprised that the TV producer/host who's boasting a fake rating and wants to promote Loose Change to the Latino Metalheads of the world is in hot water with the law.
