Michael Savage Is An Idiot
We sometimes get criticized for attacking mostly far-left kooks like Rosie O'Donnell and others, but here's a chance to get in a few licks on a far-right kook named Michael Savage. I've never listened to his show, and if this is the kind of crap he spews, I'm not going to start.
On the March 27 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage complained that Americans currently live in "post-Christian times" in which "[t]he churches are emptying out, the bathhouses are filling up, the sex-change operations are speeding up, the lesbian fertility clinics are increasing around the country." Savage went on to argue that God "orchestrated the rise of radical Islam" in order to counter the "spiritual collapse of the West." He continued: "It's becoming increasingly clear to me that God wants radical Islam on this planet at this time -- that it's not actually the scourge you think it is." He further claimed that God wants to show "you boys in Hollywood and you girls in New York City" that he does "exist" through acts of catastrophe like the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001: "Down came the World Trade Centers. That was God speaking."
Mr Savage, you are an idiot and a moron. You are trying to hijack 9-11 for your own purposes, just as much as Dylan Avery and Alex Jones are for theirs. God had nothing to do with 9-11, nor did gays in bathhouses or lesbian fertility clinics.

His real name is Michael Weiner. That's a more fitting name for the cowardly homophobe.

Surely God could show us he exists in far gentler ways? Then again he's not really that kind of guy if the Bible's anything to go on.

The easiest way for God to show his existence would be to APPEAR, somewhere, anywhere. Sure he's omnipotent, but he just can't seem to materialize anywhere for some reason.
The funny thing about this Savage issue though is that for all his talk about Christianity, Savage is or at least was Jewish. It's not uncommon to see other right-wing pundits who talk your ear off about Christianity while not going to any church or not following any of the doctrine.
Savage is as weird as they get. There was a Salon piece on him some years ago which delved into his background, and it was eye-opening stuff; involvement in New Age therapy, friends with Allan Ginsberg, rambling homoerotic semi-autobiographical novel... Then a couple of decades later he comes back ranting about how pretty much everyone to the left of Hitler is the anti-Christ and homosexuals are sick scum. Now, I'm not suggesting little Mr Weiner might be addressing some long-buried personal issues here, but...
I think that any attempt to interpeet 9/11 as some sort of signal of what God wants usually ends up being fairly offensive, but this is even worse than usual.
Yeah, Savage is your typical moronic far-right radio host. Loves the sound of his own voice, likes to read the Bible on air, but doesn't have an ounce of Christian compassion. Rabidly anti-gay and rabidly anti-immigrant, but, as Der Bruno Stroszek rightly notes, he has a more than a few skeletons in his closet, including nude swimming sessions with Allen Ginsberg and an alleged sexual encounter with a black man. His ex-wife described him as 'tyrannical' and he once told his own son 'You look like a fag'. Pot and kettle.

Sex change operations are speeding up? Not what I've heard from one Zoe Brain. Not only is Savage an ignorant slut, his proud of it.
God is Sovereign and in control; He may allow a tragedy to happen in order to bring His people back to Himself.
I am sorry for those who have lost loved ones in the 911 tragedy and the war in Iraq. I pray you will put your trust in Jesus Christ.
