Watch Out For Those FEMA Death Camps
As we have long maintained, the 9/11 conspiracy movement is the perfect intersection of the far-left, "Bush is a Nazi", anti-corporate types, and the far-right, anti-government, anti-Semitic, survivalist nut types. Prominent nutter, failed professor and bounty hunter Kevin Barrett makes this abundantly clear with this essay on "continuity of government" in which, among other things he repeats his assertion that Roosevelt orchestrated Pearl Harbor.
Much of this article is just Barrett reposting from that reliable source, the Internet forum, a list of potential FEMA concentration camps and presidential executive orders which supposedly imbue Bush with infinite powers. It is all some rather interesting stuff. For example, who knew that the former Sandpoint Naval Air Station, here in Seattle, which since being closed down decades ago has since been used for a variety of things such as a homeless shelter, and a part of a city park, was also a future FEMA death camp? I just hope they keep the screaming down, or it will disturb all the picnickers and boaters on Lake Washington.
Even more absurdly is the list of executive orders, with claims as to what powers they allow. The problem is, Barrett in his typical manner, fails to do any research to check as to whether these claims are true. Here are the first 3:
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990
allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995
allows the government to seize and control the communication media.EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997
allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.
The short answers is, they don't, other than a superficial connection to the topic, these executive orders do not say what they claim. Not even close.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990
Executive Order 10990
RE-ESTABLISHING THE FEDERAL SAFETY COUNCIL
WHEREAS section 33 (c) of the Federal Employees' Compensation Act, as amended (5 U.S.C. 784), declared it to be the purpose of the Congress to reduce the number of accidents and injuries among Government officers and employees, encourage safe practices, eliminate work hazards and health risks, and reduce compensable injuries; and
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995
Executive Order 10995
ASSIGNING TELECOMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS
EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997
Executive Order 10997
ASSIGNING EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FUNCTIONS TO THE SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR
Now I didn't cherry pick their weakest examples, these are just the first three on the list. So once again I have to ask the nutters. If the truth is on your side, why do you have to lie all the time?
