Cow-Killer Kent Knudson Takes Own Life

Obviously sad news here.

It is with great sadness that I must report to you the news of the passing of my great friend and hero, Kent Knudson. Kent had been suffering from depression over yet another traumatic legal difficulty and facing two felony charges, on top of his "Cowcrap" conviction. The pressures of this latest legal action taken against him, the possibility of 3 years of jail time, and other factors lead him into a depression from which Kent had decided to take matters into his own control, ending his life.

Knudson headed up the local branch of the knucklehead Troofers. He's better known locally for having killed a cow or two that wandered onto his property in Northern Arizona, although of course the Truthers try to make it sound like some brave defense of his family:

During the years that Kent spent caring for his beloved mother who was developing Alzheimer's disease, Kent fell into legal trouble as a result of attempting to safeguard his mother against an invading herd of cattle on their 40 acre ranch near Snowflake, AZ.

Yes, he was trying to save his mother from some killer cows, a courageous act that won him a Best of Phoenix Award: Best Local Nutbar.

My condolences to his family and friends. It is a shame that he wasted several of the last years of his life pursuing the great nothing that is 9-11 Truth.

The rest of his nuttiness aside 3 years for shooting a cow on your property is absurd. It at most should be a misdemeanor with a fine and minimal (if any) jail time.

Len, I'm only speculating here, but I'd guess that his "nutiness" probably had something to do with receiving such a sentence. Maybe he pulled some of the usual truther antics in the court room, and "persuaded" the judge to come down hard on him.

Again, just speculating.

Len, he did no time for shooting the cow, although he did get convicted of a felony. The mention of him facing some more felony charges and jail time relates to some new offense(s) committed by Knudson.

And the truther body count goes up by one. Even crazy people have families. Sad tale.

He should have set himslef on fire for 9/11 Inside Jobby Job Truth.

That would have made National News for their Hate-America 1st cause.

I understood that he faced 3 years but had not been sentenced yet. I didn't see anything about him facing other charges.

According to him he left his gate open because he rushed his mom to the hospital after a stroke and came home to find his yard full of cows. I'd be pissed of too but don't think I'd get to the point of shooting a cow. He said his mom wondered out sometimes so the cows could have been a threat.

Perhaps he refused a plea but he shouldn't have faced anything other than a fine a restitution and only then because of a stupid law.

The twoofers are making him out to be some sort of martyr just because he was one of them. We shouldn't villify him for the same reason.

Len, he was convicted of killing the cow 3-1/2 years ago, so I doubt very much that he hadn't been sentenced. The linked post says something about two other felony charges pending.

"...facing two felony charges, on top of his "Cowcrap" conviction."

Note as well that his defense on the cow-killing incident was that yes, he fired a gun, but he fired it into the air so it must have ricocheted off a tree and anyway it was the wrong caliber and he was just trying to defend his mother. See here:

Perhaps the funniest bit is that Knudson by his own account spent something like $40,000 to fight the conviction; a non-kook would have just paid the rancher for the cow.

Yup. Which is why stories like this are worthless. They're either written by the conspiracy nut himself, or by his enabler buddy. And neither knows how to tell a coherent story, and they both have a massive persecution complex, so you can't make any sense out of it.

Which is sad, because I'd like to know more. I have no difficulty believing that a combination of asshole neighbors and law enforcement bullies could drive a man to suicide over something as petty as a cow. But this loopy testimony is unconvincing.

U people are a-holes. Kent was a sweet guy who once had the courage of his beliefs. The world must have worn him down. Just FYI, he tried to pay for the stupid cow, they wouldn't let him. They arrested him at his mother's funeral. The bullet found in the cow didn't even match his weapon. U guys are hypocritically mean.

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. The link in Pat's post, supposedly quoting Knudson himself, says:

The day that I buried mother, the court was trying to issue her a Subpoena!.

So what happened at the funeral? Did they arrest him, or did they issue the corpse a subpoena? You'd think the record would be clear on a detail like that.

Kent was a friend of mine also. A few of the posters here are sorely lacking in class and compassion.

Please read this -

Arizona Rethinking Open Range Laws

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/12/us/12cattle.html?_r=1

The ranching community in eastern Arizona, including judge/prosecutor, wanted to make an example out of Kent.

The rancher (Dee Johnson), has 60 FELONIES against him for CATTLE RUSTLING. He is a cousin to both Jake Flake and Jeff Flake, in the AZ Legislature and US Congress respectively. The elder Flake has since passed away.
