Venezuelan Denial

Our frequent commenter Consdemo has started a blog on Venezuelan anti-Americanism. Not surprisingly, he finds that a website linked to the Venezuelan government has been embracing 9-11 nuttery:

The website also announces that new videos are coming soon (as of January 13):

Michael Moore: Videos como Fahrenheit 9/11 y otros
Noam Chomsky: Videos de este famoso pensador y escritor
WTC 11 Septiembre: Videos sobre la caĆda de las Torres Gemelas de NY

The last is a reference to the fall of the Twin Towers in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This is almost certainly an attempt to suggest something other than crashing planes brought down the towers, which is a favorite assertion of anti-American conspiracy theorists. Given that crackpot conspiracy films such as "Loose Change" and "9/11 mysteries" have Spanish versions, it is noteworthy that they don't appear meet the low standards of this website. The Venezuelan leadership is all over the map on the 9/11 conspiracies, somedays claiming it was "an inside job" while on other days officials are quoted as "just asking questions", which may be a distinction without a real difference. What is clear is that 9/11 suspicions of the Chavistas are based on the same motivations as other conspiracy theorists, vitriolic hatred for the United States, not credible evidence.

Good job, Consdemo!

Any person or website (like the pro-Venezuelan site linked) which holds up Michael Moore's film making in general, or Fahrenheit's 9/11 in particular, as a guide to understanding the truth, goes on my list of the clueless or disinfo agents.

Well ofcourse they're disinfo agents. It's obvious that Chavez and his whole government have been bought off by the CIA, right Bill?

Yeah, well, the rest of his movies were pretty funny too. Unfortunately he intended for them to be serious.

That's why I can only laugh at him trying to be taken seriously. I'd probably find his jokes funny if he didn't believe in his nonsense message. The guy hates America.

And yes I really mean that. America is not, has not, and was not founded to be a socialist nation where the guns were only in the hands of state. It was founded, explictly, to be a country with as close to absolute freedom as possible, with an armed populace (if they so choosed), where people took care of themselves. Moore hates this, and thus hates this country. I wish he'd leave.

Has anyone noticed that the same fucking loons (sorry for the language) who think 9/11 was "an inside job" also support Fidel Castro, Boss Hugo in Venezuela, Holocaust denial, and Mahmoudy of Iran?

How many of America's enemies can these nuts embrace before their heads explode?

That's the extreme Left for you. (And some elements of the extreme right, like Duke).

Thanks for the citation, James.

Btw, some good news from Britain's Guardian about the plummeting popularity of Iran's jackass President.

A U.S. attack will only resurrect Ahmadinejad's stature. I hope the White House realizes it should sit back and less this imbecile fall on his own.

Sorry, the last post should have said "let this imbecile..."

I'd rather we not strike Iran, but the Iranian president really means nothing. He's a powerless figurehead - the Ayatollah holds all the power ("Supreme Leader").
