Bits and Pieces

Nothing much new to report from the Troofer front. Jesse Ventura was on a radio program the other day with Michael Shermer from Skeptic Magazine. Ventura hit him with "Why haven't they indicted Osama bin Laden for 9-11?" It's a variation on the Sacred List fallacy, which usually gets phrased as "Why doesn't Osama's Most Wanted poster list 9-11 as one of his crimes?"

Of course, the reason is simple. Osama hasn't been indicted for 9-11 because the US already has plenty of indictments against him and there's no particular reason to get more unless and until he's brought into custody.

But what does Ventura think it means? Is there some "Truther" group of US attorneys, bravely refusing to indict Osama because they know 9-11 was really an inside job? And how would Jesse square that with the pending military tribunal of KSM?

Lenny Dykstra, the former baseball player who attracted our attention with his buddy-buddy relationship with Charlie Sheen and Alex Jones, has got more problems.

Former New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Lenny Dykstra was arrested for investigation of grand theft, a day after he was charged with a federal bankruptcy crime, authorities said Friday.

Dykstra, 48, was arrested Thursday night by Los Angeles police at his Encino home on suspicion of trying to buy a stolen car, police spokesman Officer Christopher No said. He did not have other details.

It May Be Hug a "Truther" Week....

But don't marry one, says a Slate columnist:
Q. Conspiracy Love: My fiance and I are about to be married. We are both very opposite when it comes to our philosophy. I have been involved with the government for over 20 years in one capacity or another. He has always worked for himself and has never really been on his own. (He still lives with his parents.) I see the world as "bad things sometimes happen to good people" or "bad things happen to bad people." He sees the world as if something bad happens, the U.S. government or some ruling family is behind it. For example, he believes that Charlie Sheen wasn't always crazy and that someone targeted him to make him look crazy because he said that 9/11 was an "inside job."

Yep, Charlie forgot to wear his tinfoil hat and so we scrambled his brains with microwaves. The advice?
A: Charlie Sheen is rich and famous, and crazy, but the rich and famous part helps explain why women keep marrying him. Your fiance isn't rich and famous. So you need to call off the wedding and figure out why you were planning to marry someone who is mentally ill.

Alex Jones on the View

It is bad enough he shows up on FoxNews from time to time, now he is on the View defending Charlie Sheen and promoting the troof.

Another Victim of the Troof

The world's most famous truther, well after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at least, follows in the footsteps of Steven Jones and Kevin Ryan, and hits the unemployment line for the "troof". Somehow I don't think this will cut into his supply of hookers and blow though.

CBS has ended production of the hit comedy "Two and a Half Men" for the season, the network said late Thursday.

The move came after star actor Charlie Sheen took to the air waves Thursday to slam show creator Chuck Lorre in a rambling, erratic interview on syndicated radio's "The Alex Jones Show."

"Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen's statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of "Two and a Half Men" for the remainder of the season," CBS Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television said in a statement.

The show had been in hiatus since January when Sheen entered rehab after displaying erratic behavior.

I wonder if he will show up in Oneonta with Jason and Korey now.

Truther Hero Sheen Booked on Domestic Violence

In Aspen:

Actor Charlie Sheen spoke to a Pitkin County judge and was released from jail on bond Friday night after he was arrested at an Aspen home on felony domestic violence charges on Christmas morning.

The 44-year-old star of of the CBS show "Two and Half Men" was arrested after police were called by a 9-1-1 call about 8:30 a.m. to a home at 320 West Hallam St. near downtown.

An ambulance was called, but the alleged victim did not require help, according to Aspen police.

Just another day in the life of "Wild Thing".

Over at Prison Planet, the speculation is mostly that Sheen was set up due to the power of his 20 Minutes With the President fantasy.

Harp must have been fired up all night long last night as I woke up in a state of panic a dozen times.

Gossip at the Daily News:

The actor and wife Brooke Mueller, married since May 2008, recently took a quiet trial separation, Radaronline.com reported.

They got together in Aspen - where Mueller rented a house - for the holidays and started arguing early Christmas morning, the gossip site said.

It got heated, and cops were called. Sheen, 44, was hauled off to jail and charged with assault and other crimes.

I Accept Charlie Sheen's Challenge

Let's roll.

Appearing on The Alex Jones Show today to discuss his video address to Barack Obama, Charlie Sheen has challenged those who have publicly attacked him for speaking out on 9/11, particularly Meghan McCain, Rush Limbaugh Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, to debate him on CNN's Larry King Live.

Chuck, I'm publicly attacking you for speaking out on 9-11. I promise not to bring up your hookers or your divorces or your drug use; I promise to keep the debate solely on the evidence presented in your video address to President Obama.

So what do you say? Have your people contact my people.

Charlie Sheen Gets 20 Minutes With the President

No, he didn't. This is just a fantasy post by Charlie. Predictably, he focuses on the NORAD issue:

CS – You’ll notice sir on page one of the dossier dated August of ‘06 from the Washington Post, the statements of John Farmer, senior council to the 9/11 commission, his quote stating, “I was shocked how different the truth was from the way it was described.”

PBO – (as he glances down at the report, almost inaudible) …. um hmm….

CS – He goes on to further state “The [NORAD Air Defense] tapes told a radically different story from what had been told to us and the public for two years….”

Aside from that, it's the usual melange of factoids, like Willie Brown was warned not to fly, Mineta describing the Cheney neck whip, Bellone and DeMasi found the black boxes at the WTC, explosions, Barbara Olsen's phone calls, etc.

Update: If you thought the gullible Troofers posting on that thread were funny, check out the firestorm that went on at the Prison Planet Forum when the disclaimer was added (see around page 8).

More On Charlie

To update the story Pat just posted on whether the man who decided that sleeping with Denise Richards was a bad alternative is going to be narrating Loose Change version 4, he has now written a message posted in an article on Alex Jones' paranoid Prison Planet. At least he avoids the silly 13 year old girl Rosie speak (2 cool 2 b U) in his messages.

My views and convictions regarding the events of 9/11 have not wavered. I still firmly believe the citizens of this great country, especially the family members of those tragically lost, deserve a much more accurate and thorough investigation surrounding the horrific events.

The suspicious fact that certain relevant testimonies were not included in the Keen Commission's final report, discredits the majority of their findings. A bi-partisan, democratically selected panel needs to be established that would include (but not limited to), victim family members, firefighters, rescue workers as well as key eye witnesses to the various crime scenes. Not some tepid rehash of Bush-serving lap-dogs cherry picking evidence to support erroneous and fictional "Magic Bullet" explanations.

We will not tolerate any testimony behind closed doors from subjects not placed "Under Oath". We will not tolerate the real and hard questions being dismissed for reasons of "National Security". We will not tolerate our freedom of speech being dismantled and ignored as not to "Disrespect the deceased".

I'm baffled as well by the fact Bin Laden's crimes listed on the FBI's most wanted list DO NOT include those of 9/11. If you do not believe me, see for yourselves -

As far as "Loose Change- Final Cut" is concerned, I await the newest version to be presented to me, at which point I will make my decision to participate (or not) based on the film's content and merit.

I remain patriotically steadfast.

Alex Jones Claims Charlie Still A Truther, May Do Loose Change FC

This may just be an attempt to put a happy face on the apparent inability to come to some sort of agreement on financial terms, but Jones claims that Sheen has final approval:

In contributing to this article, Alex made it clear that Loose Change is still a work in progress and is being carefully edited, vetted and fact checked, with new interviews and information being added all the time. The film is by no means complete and the understanding all along was that Sheen would only make a decision on whether to narrate the documentary after he had had a chance to watch the final version.

Nice to know they've got an adult like Sheen exercising final creative control. ;) And you've gotta wonder if Dylan's really going to hit his week before 9-11-07 target date for opening if he's still at the point where he's adding new material.

Jones tries to blast the Post for reporting Sheen's narration as a done deal. I don't recall if the Loosers have ever claimed that Charlie's on board or not, but they've certainly done nothing to discourage that speculation.

Update: More supposedly from Sheen himself:

My views and convictions regarding the events of 9/11 have not wavered. I still firmly believe the citizens of this great country, especially the family members of those tragically lost, deserve a much more accurate and thorough investigation surrounding the horrific events.

Page Six: More Details on Rosie, Sheen

The NY Post reports (perhaps optimistically) that Loose Change is losing steam:

A source tells us Charlie Sheen "is having second thoughts" about being involved in an updated version of the flick, which has a huge following on YouTube. As Page Six reported in March, Sheen had agreed to narrate the ridiculous flick, presumably to give it some needed Hollywood sizzle.

And here's an additional detail about Ro's exit from the view:

O'Donnell reportedly had booked the film's producers, Korey Rowe and Dylan Avery, on Thursday's show. But after getting into a fight with Elisabeth Hasselbeck Wednesday, and after her chief writer was caught defacing Hasselbeck's photos with mustaches, O'Donnell left the show.

Sheen: Include Me Out?

Apparently there's been nothing finalized in terms of Charlie Sheen narrating the Final Cut:

"Charlie has had talks with the people involved with Loose Change Final Cut, but has in no way made any official commitment to narrating this film." - Erik Fleming.

Not sure if this is part of the negotiations or what; certainly everything I have heard to this point indicated that Sheen would be doing the voice-over. Just passing it along.

Reaction to Sheen and O'Donnell

Wonkette summarizes the situation rather well, I thought:

Washed-Up Whoremonger To Lend Credibility To YouTube Nut

Right Wing News says he needs a haircut. And a shave from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, perhaps?

Allah says Rosie's getting a bad rap.

We know she’s a Truther, but a Looser? That’s the word from Access Hollywood in this link that people keep sending me, but as much as I hate to say it, I think big Ro’s the victim of a smear here. AH cites Page Six for news that Rosie’s involved in a new version of “Loose Change” bankrolled by Mark Cuban and narrated by Charlie Sheen.

Yes, I can't imagine that Rosie's going to have any real involvement in Loose Change other than pimping it on The View and her blog.

Can Sheen Come Back from Loose Change?

Since O'Reilly raises the point (over at 9-11 Blogger they're claiming that it was a threat) here's a little topic for discussion. My take? A lot of it depends on Loose Change. If it is retooled (and I don't really believe that they're just going to have Chuckles redo the voice-over for the latest version) significantly, the question is where they will come down on the bigger picture. They've already said they're dropping the morphing of the phone calls and the Cleveland Airport Mystery. But those were the two most forcefully stated parts in the original picture. Are they going to be reduced to a Jack Webb film (just asking questions, Ma'am)? Are they going to conclude "negligence"? If that's the case, Sheen will probably come out of it okay. But the more the film alleges MIHOP, the worse he will be viewed.

At any rate, it gives us all the more reason to root against Mark Cuban's Dallas Mavericks in the NBA this year!

No New Loose Change?

Buried in an article about Charlie Sheen and Rosie O'Donnell being nutbars is this nugget:

Sources say Sheen - whose father, Martin Sheen, has been arrested 63 times protesting on behalf of various leftist causes - is in talks with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban's Magnolia Pictures to distribute "Loose Change." Sheen has called for a new independent probe of the attack, telling Alex Jones' radio show: "It seems to me like 19 amateurs with box cutters taking over four commercial airliners and hitting 75 percent of their targets, that feels like a conspiracy theory. It raises a lot of questions."

Sheen's rep confirmed his participation. Cuban e-mailed us: "We are having discussions about distributing the existing video with Charlie's involvement as a narrator, not in making a new feature. We are also looking for productions with an opposing viewpoint. We like controversial subjects, but we are agnostic to which side the controversy comes from."

It's of course interesting that Cuban is talking about distributing a "documentary" which even its creator admits does contain errors, and comes to conclusions that are not 100% backed up by the facts.

Update: Bill writes a few open letters here.
