Bishop Bob Bowman Wakes Up Chico

Aside from the credulity of the reporterette (Bob Bowman was declared the best public speaker in the US by the LA Times?), what impresses me most about this story is the venue. Yep, the Troofers joined forces against the New World Order where? The local Masonic Lodge.

Update: The video's apparently from July, just now getting posted to Truther sites.

Break A Leg, Richard!

Turns out he already did.

Unfortunately Richard Gage broke his leg skiing, and I hope he'll be out of his cast for the trip to Denver next month where Ken Jenkins, Richard and I (representing Northern California 9/11 Truth Alliance and Fran Shure representing the local Colorado 9/11 Truth group) will have a booth, and be delegates at the American Citizen's Summit.

Gage's courage in his latest "experiment that changed the world" is heartwarming. He deliberately skied into a tree to demonstrate that a relatively small object (like 15 stories of an office building or his puny body) could not destroy a relatively larger object (like 95 stories of an office building or a Ponderosa Pine) due to gravity alone.

Our condolences to the tree.

Brit Troofer Drowns

Apparently he ran this website. Predictably, the idiots are speculating that he knew too much.

Wonderful other stuff he did, about mysteries and the paranormal and computer gizmos – he was really clever. And, he had quite high hit rates on his very professionally-managed websites. I believe he was optimistic and buoyant with all his future plans, and don’t even think of his wanting to take his own life. Did he just happen to go for a swim in the middle of February, and get drowned by a shore where he had lived for years? I don’t think so….

The quote there is from Holocaust Denier Nick Kollerstrom.

My sympathies go out to his family and friends, except of course that turd Kollerstrom.

Brian Good's Greatest Hits

Since he seems to be our designated Troofer commenter this week, I thought we might review some of the more memorable moments of insanity from Mr Good.

Brian posts at the Democratic Underground forum as Petgoat. He made one of the greatest conspiracy theory posts ever in May, a true classic of the genre.

Almost 18 months ago I shared these sketches, which didn't go over very well here.

Acknowledgment that his genius has so far gone unrecognized.

I'm not an engineer. I've worked in construction and read lots of books on building and I operate a lot in the failure mode through taking on the repair of hopelessly broken stuff other people consider garbage, and when I'm building stuff for my own use I deliberately underbuild it to try to generate instructive failures. My first project was as a five-year-old--a chair that provided an interesting (and instant) shear failure when I sat on it.

Admission that he lacks formal training but a claim that his real-world experience makes up for it, followed by a humorous anecdote.

I have reason to believe that one of these days you're going to see some diagrams from more authoritative sources that look something like these.

The usual megalomania claim that someday he'll be regarded as prescient. Petgoat followed up with a series of incomprehensible drawings, only one of which I'll present here:

When the sheeple responded that they could not understand his point, Brian lashed out with one of the alltime greatest quotes by a troofer:

If your co-workers have any questions, intelligent or otherwise, please forward them. That you were unable to intuit the obvious implications of rakeonrake suggests that, if they're anything like you, they won't have any at all.

Of course, Brian is always quotable:

What is proposed is that the giant core structure of the WTC, built to carry 10X the weight of the entire tower above, should have captured the disorganized wreckage of the WTC wreckage that was disintegrated core above it, rather than collapsing under this relatively small amount of wreckage.

Meatball on a fork is a metaphor.

Had it not been for Sofia's amazing "Clunkety-clunk", Brian would be remembered today as the person who had the two greatest quotes ever by a 9-11 "Truther".

One of the more amusing soap opera plots in the soap opera world of the Troofers was the star-crossed friendship of Carol Brouillet and Brian Good, discussed at Carol's site. In September 2007 they were side by side, fighting the New World Order:

The great thing (for me) was that I was, at least, able to do the rally, march, and hand out the cards, which would have been impossible had it not been for Chuck and Brian and Scott, Bill, Bob, Camille, and others who helped carry stuff, set-up, minded the table, and pass out cards, too- it really was a group effort. One of us can make a little noise, but together we can have a big impact- I would say we did reach our message to most of the crowd at the Concert- and that we definitely felt our work and efforts were appreciated by most of the public and our fellow activists.

I still have to unload and repack the car- for Brian who will be tabling at the Grand Lake Theater tomorrow.

They were superheroes for 9-11 Troof:

Fortunately, the most important thing I learned at the Storyfield Conference was "Radical Forgiveness" so I'm not going to beat myself up for doing a lousy job pulling together the rally and march. It was very small. Bernie came and sang his songs, but we had no prominent speakers- just those of us hardcore 9/11 Truth activists who have been doing the work- and one journalist/photographer from some University or another, covering the event. I just didn't have time to do all the organizing, legwork, outreach to pull off something big. Knowing it would probably be small, Brian and I donned the superhero costumes to add drama/color/draw attention to our rather small march. I don't think we were many beyond 30 people- but we were loud, and sang most of the way.

But things quickly turned sour:

I was stunned at last night's meeting when I was attacked heavily by Brian Good on the November 1st event AND the Trick or Truth idea, AND War on War Week- because of Kevin Barrett's involvement AND for having Captain May on my radio show. Jeremy Begin took Brian's side and the group voted against endorsing War on War Week and using any of our funds to promote it.

Unfortunately, Brian wrote a LONG attack email directed at me and cced to most of the local activists this morning which I was forced to respond to- and ate up much of my precious time. No press advisories were sent out- I missed the big peace rally.

I just hope when I get through this difficult period that I will be able to look back and appreciate the hard lesson that I was forced to learn from this experience, but I'm still in the midst of it, and royally mad at Brian for his incredibly bad judgement, and being so counterproductive.

On the brighter side, I do appreciate my family and friends more than ever for their understanding, love, and support, and I do hope that the time I spent responding to Brian's accusations might help increase understanding between Kevin Barrett and his accusers and mend some bridges (undoing the damage caused by those who are TRYING to create rifts in the movement and unjustly attacking Kevin Barrett, and Captain May, and I for being in league with those who have created some awful websites and films that target 9/11 Truth activists as members of Al Qaeda- with names, addresses and encouraging people to use violence against them.)

You know how it is; Brian was probably right to blast her for associating with complete fruitcakes like Barrett and May, but of course who does he want her to associate with? Fruitcakes like him.

At any rate, they apparently got so hostile towards each other that Carol began not attending events if Brian would be present:

I was so busy yesterday, making plane reservations, taking Jeremy to the orthodontist, feeding him, before he had to leave for the play he's working on at school, and I couldn't get a straight answer from Brian as to whether or not he was going to the meeting, so I could figure out carpooling with Chuck and whether I needed to write a letter or not to the group. Fortunately, Chuck called Brian, received assurance that he wouldn't go to the meeting- so I went.

Sadly Brian is putting all his energy into counterproductive attacks, and I am doing my best to ignore him, and not let bother me, and I try to channel my anger into something productive like the work at hand.

About eight of us will be attending the Media Strategy Summit in Santa Cruz at the end of the month. We voted to ask Brian not to attend meetings or be on committees- which was the most emotional, painful part of the meeting for most of us. I can't handle the emotional abuse.

Good is also active with Box Boy Gage's group, and caused some uproar back in 2007 when he sent out emails from an AE 911 Troof email address that blasted Willie Rodriguez.

So if you encounter him in the comments, be humble; you're dealing with a world-famous fathead!

Zeitgeist Debunked

The panconspiracy film Zeitgeist has predictably faded lately, but for a short while was top of the pops in the paranoid community. The eSkeptic newsletter from skeptic.com puts this bunk to rest, at least the first religious segment.

Considering that Part II of Zeitgeist asserts that the destruction of the World Trade Center was a conspiracy on the part of the powers that be, and that Part III is an attack on the Federal Reserve Board and income tax as unconstitutional plots devised by hidden powers bent on reducing all of us to poverty, one might wonder why Peter Joseph even bothered to open his film with an attack on Jesus and Christianity. Summing up at the end of Part I, Joseph asserts that Christianity was, in fact, developed by the Romans as a means of social control. He cites the Council of Nicaea in 325 as the beginning of this social control. So this is the connection between Part I and the rest of the film: Everything you’ve ever believed to be true is all a pack of lies foisted on you by the secret manipulators who really run things. They faked the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon to manipulate us into a war. They are undermining our financial and other freedoms through manipulation of our money and — guess what?! — they’ve been at it since the creation of Christianity, back in the time of the Roman Empire!

Zeitgeist is The Da Vinci Code on steroids.

Loads of Truth In Denver

According to Carol Brouillet:

An interim Sunshine Cabinet--including Cynthia McKinney (2008- Green Party candidate for President), Congressman Ron Paul, Grover Norquist, Liberty Coalition co-founder Michael Ostrolenk, Barbara Marx Hubbard, humorist Steve Bhaerman and Committee for a Unified Independent Party director Jackie Salit--spoke about their top priorities. They included transparency, dismantling the national security state, a non-interventionist foreign policy, peace, justice, dignity, promoting liberty, following the Constitution, creating a Peace Room, and addressing the collapse of the economic system by creating a local/global sustainable economy that values solar energy, food, human invention and love.

I don't know what the heck Norquist is doing in that group; hedging his bets is a guess. And don't you just love the concept of a Peace Room? It's like the goofs who suggest that the President should have a Secretary of Peace. We already do, you dolts; it's called the Secretary of State.

At any rate, the Troof was coming hot and heavy:

The history and evolution of the Transpartisan Movement was mapped. Processes, some of which were developed from high school classroom ground rules and from rules adopted at the first Bipartisan Congressional Retreat, were explained. Spiral Dynamics allowed everyone to understand a framework to help people consciously transcend the limits of bipartisan thinking. People were encouraged to leave their egos at the door and to be open to all points of view, deeper truths, and surprising synergies, so they could create space in which ideas or solutions drawn from the collective wisdom of a diverse group of people could emerge.

Well, you know all this airy-fairy stuff about Spiral Dynamics aside, what was going on with the Troof?

With so many systems failing, prescribing “more of the same medicine” does not inspire confidence. Pronouncements from the World Economic Forum and the White House try to convince us that the government and corporate structures that have dominated the past several decades are going to offer genuine solutions. These government and corporate structures are a large part of what has created the problem in the first place. The current policies might maintain the veneer of structural integrity, but beneath the surface explosives are going off, destroying huge swaths of infrastructure--key columns, as happened in the controlled demolition of World Trade Center 7. The fall time is predicted by the laws of physics, so that those in the know can exit and profit as they watch from a distance--and calculate how to profit even more from the insurance money that they’ll use to build the next bubble economy.

How about that clever segue into WTC 7? But to be honest, we don't hear a lot about the 9-11 stuff aside from this:

I was drawn to the summit when I learned that Cynthia McKinney and David Ray Griffin were invited speakers. I had hopes that the issues that I have worked on for years would be addressed and I was intrigued to try the new processes. The Northern California 9/11 Truth Alliance voted to sponsor a booth at the summit and send Ken Jenkins, Richard Gage, and me as delegates. Fran Shure of Colorado 911 Truth Visibility offered to host us and help us with a 9/11 Truth booth. Jennifer Parisi, also active with Colorado 911 Truth Visibility helped at our booth. Jonathan Elinoff brought his laptop and shared excerpts from his new film "Core of Corruption” which includes dramatic new footage on 9/11. We are Change Colorado had a booth. In addition to attending the summit, Richard Gage, AIA, founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, spoke at a local bookstore to a full house, which also drew people from the summit. Even though our poster sessions on 9/11 Truth were lightly attended, when polled over 70% of the participants on Sunday indicated that they believed the US government either allowed 9/11 to happen or made it happen.

And we do hear these heartening words:

I was surprised at the summit by the revelations I heard. I was also told directly by several people that Ken, Richard, Fran, Jennifer and I broke “the crazy conspiracy theorist” stereotype for people who otherwise would not have doubted or questioned the official 9/11 story.

Hey, they could have brought up the recent court ruling that declared a 9-11 Truther was mentally competent!

Obama Nuttery

Hey, I didn't vote for the guy, but the conspiracy theories already swirling around him are just as nutty as the Trooferism. The good news is that stuff like this will continue to fracture the 9-11 nuts between the paranoid fruitcakes who believe it and the garden variety leftist moonbats who will be appalled.

Obama does not seriously intend a civilian defense force that is just as well funded as our military. The North American Union is not coming, Lou Dobbs' fevered commentary to the contrary.

Doing Our Part

Jonathan Ellinoff writes about his Core of Corruption movie:

Please help me promote, I am not getting a lot of pre-sales and was hoping for that. I hope I can get a lot of sales in to get money for big promotions for my premiere. If not, no big deal, but anything helps. I really appreciate everything my friends and family have done and am very happy that they support me on this project.

If you're a Troofer, I recommend buying the movies. It's all the buzz in the NWO cafeteria these days that Jonathan Ellinoff is going to be the one to take us down.

Update to the Doctors and Nurses

Since most of these folks look to be of the Geritol Generation, I thought it might be useful to look for Lefty credentials (older Truthers skew very heavily to the portside). And of course it wasn't hard:

Johnathan Weisbuch (founding member):

I finished my residency in Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Kentucky in 1969, and married Kathleen Sperry, who had just returned from two years in India as a Peace Corps volunteer. We trained Peace Corps volunteers for family planning work in India.

Get used to seeing a lot of the word, "peace" in these bios.

Mary Ellen Bradshaw lobbies for a national health care plan.

Joanna Santa Barbara:

Past President, Physicians for Global Survival and member since 1982. Actively involved in International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), serving as a board member and a vice-president. She was a member of delegations of IPPNW affiliates to NATO in Brussels in June 1999 and June 2000. Past member of the Advisory Board of Science for Peace. Co-author of Peace Through Health: How Health Professionals Can Work for a Less Violent World (2008). Contributing author to War and Public Health (2007), Encyclopedia of Violence, Peace and Conflict (Vol.1, 1999).

Michael D. Knox:

Chairman and CEO of US Peace Memorial Foundation, a tax-exempt non-profit 501 (c) (3) foundation, which seeks to demonstrate that advocating for peaceful solutions to international problems is an honorable and socially acceptable activity. Founder and Director of both the Florida/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center and the University of South Florida Center for HIV Education and Research. Awarded the 2007 Anthony J. Marsella Prize for the Psychology of Peace and Social Justice at the 115th Annual Meeting of the American Psychological Association, an award presented annually by Psychologists for Social Responsibility, recognizing him for more than four decades of outstanding contributions to peace and humanitarian assistance.

Dale Dewar:

Past President and continuing Member, Physicians for Global Survival, the Canadian affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), which as an organization received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.

Carlos Vassaux:

Founder and Past President of the Guatemalan affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), which as an organization received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.

Carol S. Wolman

Carol S. Wolman, MD is a psychiatrist in Northern California. A lifelong peace activist, she is helping to distribute a Peace Plan for the Holy Land- email her for a copy. As the Green candidate for Congress in California District 1 in '08, she got the most votes of any third party candidate in the country- 8.4%. Her campaign videos can be seen at www.paracove.com. She also was coordinator of the New Broom Coalition, for a clean sweep of Congress, and a leader of the impeachment movement.

Alan Gilchrist is a member of drinking liberally, a liberal social group.

Michael Copass ran for the Democratic nomination for his congressional district in 2008; he was defeated soundly.

Lou Stolzenberg is a chair of a member organization of the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice.

Joshua Mitteldorf:

I'm a peace activist and an environmentalist, a board member at Philadelphia's Energy Coordinating Agency.

BTW, my point in highlighting their leftist/peace credentials is not to knock leftists or peaceniks, very few of whom have bought into 9-11 Truthiness. We see so much of the Alex Jones/Luke Rudkowski libertarian wing of the Truthers that it's easy to forget that the folks who come out to hear David Ray Griffin are mostly aging lefties.

Who's Next?

Well, we've had Architects and Moonbats for 9-11 Troof, Firefighters for 9-11 Troof, and now we've got Doctors and Nurses for 9-11 Troof. Maybe Warren Cuccurello can start up "Big Hair Band Members for 9-11 Troof". One anxiously awaits the arrival of Bus Drivers for 9-11 Troof, and of course, the big one, Twentysomething Kids In Mom's Basement for 9-11 Troof.

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Jon Gold

But were afraid to ask.

The truth is, I'm an American. My name is Jon Gold. I was born in Philadelphia in 1972. I am 36 years old. I'm a graphic designer and a web developer for a small company. I play the drums, I have a cat named after my Grandmother, I like comic books, I like music, I like movies, I like boating, I like eating out, I find things like Egypt (other ancient ruins), and history interesting, I live in an apartment, and I drive a reasonably nice car.

Gold does not tell us where he comes down on the "long walks along the beach" question. And get this brush with greatness:

In September 2004, I went to the 9/11 People's Commission in Washington D.C. and helped John Judge with all of his materials. I also ran in and out to put change in the parking meter for him.

Judge of course is one of the pioneers of 9-11 Troof, which means that nobody's heard from him in years. Here's a list of his speaking engagements, last updated in 2005.

Rep Tries to Rescue W-Rod

Over at 9-11 Flogger (no link), Reprehensor attempts to claim that Rodriguez' testimony to the 9-11 Commission actually comports with his current version of events.

Clearly, Rodriguez was indeed talking about "explosions" from the very start.

It ain't going to fly. From the notes:

"Rodriguez said on September 11, 2001 he reported late to work which was unusual for him. He said he was in the B1 sublevel ABM office speaking to Anthony Saltamachia when the plane struck the North Tower (WTC 1). He immediately thought the explosion was caused by a generator. Shortly after the first explosion a second explosion rocked the building and caused the office's false ceiling to collapse. Following these explosions Felipe David, who was severely burned, ran into the office. Rodriguez said there was a third explosion and he believed then the explosions were caused by an earthquake."

Sequence of events then:

1. Plane hits tower.
2. Explosion.

Sequence of events now:
1. Explosion.
2. Plane hits tower.

William Rodriguez Testimony

For years the truthers have been telling us that the 9/11 Commission ignored the testimony of WTC janitor William Rodriguez. Now Mike from 911 Myths has found the notes from the meeting, and the only one omitting anything is Mr. Rodriguez, who apparently forgot to tell them his dramatic explosives in the basement story.

He immediately thought the explosion was caused by a generator. Shortly after the first explosion a second explosion rocked the building and caused the office's false ceiling to collapse. Following these explosions Felipe David, who was severely burned, ran into the office. Rodriquez said there was a third explosion and he believed then the explosions were caused by an earthquake.

Founder of Al Qaeda Seems to Think Al Qaeda is Behind 9/11

I guess he didn't get the memo. From the Telegraph:

Sayyid Imam al-Sharif, who goes by the nom de guerre Dr Fadl, helped bin Laden create al-Qaeda and then led an Islamist insurgency in Egypt in the 1990s.

But in a book written from inside an Egyptian prison, he has launched a frontal attack on al-Qaeda's ideology and the personal failings of bin Laden and particularly his Egyptian deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Twenty years ago, Dr Fadl became al-Qaeda's intellectual figurehead with a crucial book setting out the rationale for global jihad against the West.

Today, however, he believes the murder of innocent people is both contrary to Islam and a strategic error. "Every drop of blood that was shed or is being shed in Afghanistan and Iraq is the responsibility of bin Laden and Zawahiri and their followers," writes Dr Fadl.

The terrorist attacks on September 11 were both immoral and counterproductive, he writes. "Ramming America has become the shortest road to fame and leadership among the Arabs and Muslims. But what good is it if you destroy one of your enemy's buildings, and he destroys one of your countries? What good is it if you kill one of his people, and he kills a thousand of yours?" asks Dr Fadl. "That, in short, is my evaluation of 9/11."

Even More Inept Than McKinney

That's the Canadian Action Party, a gathering of the paranoid nutbars who say, "Eh!" They take positions on the difficult issues facing Canada today, like the North American Union, Chemtrails, and yes, 9-11 Truth.

The current leader of the Canadian Action Party is Dr Andrew Moulden, taking over for past fruitcake Connie Fogal:

Reportedly this is another photo of Moulden, which has landed him in some hot water:

I do not know the truth as to the origins of this photo. It is claimed by one of Moulden's opponents within the CAP asylum that Moulden "borrowed" the uniform of a woman's husband who had actually served in the US Navy. At any rate the Maple Leaf Madmen are convinced that this indicates Moulden is an infiltrator from Naval Intelligence.

At this point, I can only conclude that it struck a real nerve and that this guy will turn out to be an actual US NAVY Officer probably on some DARPA project or something. He is an ultra-genius brain doctor afterall.

Moulden has pulled a power play with some of his supporters, taking control of the Ottawa 9-11 website. As usual with the Troofers they can't see this as a battle between nutbars, but something darker:

Well, congratulations on being disrupted - always a pretty sure sign of an effective group having been noticed. And perfectly enough, there just so happens to be a photographic record of you building Ottawa 9/11 Truth from the ground up - literally - right here on this site. I'm glad that you're taking this as well as you seem to be - but not surprised, since you kick so much ass.

So how is the CAP doing?

In the 1997 election they got 0.13% of the vote. In 2000 they upped that to 0.21%. Under Fogal in 2004, they got 0.06% of the vote. In 2006 they got 0.04%. In 2008? Try 0.03%.

Cousin of Jarrah Was Israeli Spy

The "Mossad did it" wing of the Troofers gets a boost:

From his home in this Bekaa Valley village, Mr. Jarrah, 50, traveled often to Syria and to south Lebanon, where he photographed roads and convoys that might have been used to transport weapons to Hezbollah, the Shiite militant group, investigators say. He spoke with his handlers by satellite phone, receiving “dead drops” of money, cameras and listening devices. Occasionally, on the pretext of a business trip, he traveled to Belgium and Italy, received an Israeli passport, and flew to Israel, where he was debriefed at length, investigators say.

And:

It is not the family’s first brush with notoriety. One of Mr. Jarrah’s cousins, Ziad al-Jarrah, was among the 19 hijackers who carried out the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, though the men were 20 years apart in age and do not appear to have known each other well.

That's what they want you to think.

Moron the Core

This is supposedly another trailer, but it actually begins like just a random ten minutes of the film. It starts with the Jeremy R. Hammond nonsense that I discussed a few months ago. Here's the nub of what Hammond wrote:

When the managing director of the overseas Warner Bros. office passed away, the individual who spoke with the Journal was contacted by the senior executive from L.A. about the plans for the memorial service. Senior executives from the company would attend, including from the Warner Bros. parent corporation, Time Warner, headquartered in New York.

When he answered that one of the potential dates for the service was September 11, he was told that would be no good because “something big is happening that day” and the top executives from the New York office would all be travelling out of the city.

The story makes no sense to the conspiracy theory as I pointed out. If the "something big" was 9-11, then the top executives from the New York office would all have a perfect excuse for being out of the city. They were going to the memorial service. And if they knew about the 9-11 plot, wouldn't they have felt perfectly safe anyway? Time-Warner HQ in New York is at 59th Street and 8th Avenue, approximately seven miles north of the World Trade Center.

At 1:43 into the "trailer" we get the first lie: "12 minutes before the World Trade Centers (sic) came down, Giuliani and the command post were told to pack up and leave the area."

There's a compound word for that, and the first part is "bull". Giuliani got the warning just as the South Tower was collapsing, and in fact was trapped momentarily as he described to Peter Jennings around noon that day (about 1:45 into this clip):

Note that Elinoff does air part of that interview with Jennings, but cuts it off just as Giuliani is about to reveal that he got trapped by the collapse of the South Tower. It's the usual casual dishonesty we're so accustomed to from the "Truthers".

We get the infinitely rehashed story of the van full of explosives that was supposedly stopped on the George Washington Bridge; as best as I can figure out this is a confusion of the Dancing Jews' van. Lots of wild stories were being covered by the media that day; anybody remember the truck bomb at the state department? Or the supposed DC police helicopter that had been hijacked?

We get the usual "take the red pill" crap from the Matrix; these idiots probably think that was a documentary too. Next come the put options. Then we get the Newsweek story that said top Pentagon Brass were warned not to fly on 9-11. Except that's not really how it reads:

On Sept. 10, NEWSWEEK has learned, a group of top Pentagon officials suddenly canceled travel plans for the next morning, apparently because of security concerns.

"Apparently" doesn't feed the bulldog, and there are lots of reasons why people suddenly cancel travel plans. And the separate parts don't fit together. The indication is that the Time Warner official knew well before 9-11 but Pentagon officials were only clued in on September 10th? And this "quote" does not appear in the Newsweek article:

Sander Hicks pops in to tell us about Able Danger in his usual frenetic style.

We get the latest release date: March 27, 2009. IIRC originally the plan was for all five films to be released simultaneously sometime in January; now he's talking about just one film in late March. How much you want to bet that Elinoff won't even make that revised target?

We get the supposed whistleblowers: Robert Wright (who was demoted two years before the attacks and who was investigating Hamas and Hezbollah) and Sibel Edmonds (who was hired by the FBI as a low-level contract translator of Turkish after 9-11). We hear that a new whistleblower has been found (some clown in a purple tie, possibly Richard Andrew Grove).

This is the formula used by the original Loose Change movies. It was successful back in 2005 and 2006, but I don't think you can recreate that situation; the "Truther" lies have been exposed, and this movie won't get the head start on the population that Loose Change did.

Fitzgerald Ruled Competent to Stand Trial

Hadn't heard much on the Troofer who killed his father in awhile, but here's an update:

A Colorado Springs man accused of murdering his father has been ruled competent to stand trial. 36-year old Sean Fitzgerald is charged with first degree murder in the November 20, 2008 stabbing death of his father, prominent orthopedic surgeon Dr. Edward Fitzgerald. Prosecutors say the younger Fitzgerald burst into his parents' room and began stabbing his father. An affidavit shows Fitzgerald admitted to the crime. His preliminary hearing is set for March 13.

I don't think there is any doubt that his defense lawyer will bring up his 9-11 Troof beliefs as evidence of his paranoia.

Marie Claire Was an Inside Job!

The original article is not news, since Pat posted on it over 2 weeks ago, but the all too predictable troofer reaction to this is hilarious over at 911 Blogger nutbar headquarters:

On a side note, I might as well add: As a single 30-year-old guy who occasionally feels frustration over not being in a relationship right now, I'm actually happy to have come across this column, because it reminds me of one truism: "Better to be alone than in bad company!" I'll be happy to be single for a little while longer, knowing that when I do settle with someone it'll be someone of a much more open mind than the woman who wrote this piece of trash column.

kameelyun,

you aren't alone in your frustration but you are quite correct. I am happy to stay single until I find someone with an equally open mind.

SD

one of the most difficult relationship challenges i've ever experienced.

Her story reminds me of two patients who thought their boy-friend / husband was going insane when they started saying things like “Al-Qaeda is just a pet-false-flag-project of Western intelligence”. Both of them left their boy-friend / spouse around 2003 – 2004, and now, as it begins to dawn on them that their men were quite a bit closer to the truth than the bulk of the main-stream media, they regret having had senseless quarrels over these issues, and having wrongly judged the values and sanity of their ex-men. Both are alone now, and not any happier, struggling as lone parents.

I doubt this really happened to her (if the author is even really a "her"). It's a conditioning piece, and a good find. Marie Claire- the Popular Mechanics for the ladies, LOL.

I agree with lakezoarian. It is a hitpiece.

Marie Claire is handled in the US by Hearst Corporation.

This article has a distinct ring of inauthenticity. It's a propaganda piece and a nasty one.

Target audience: "strong" women ("Gloria Steinem collection") and their potential male companions.

It threatens the indirect male demographic with "alienation of affection" if they persist in their 9/11 activism, beyond the stock psycho-social marginalization--"regain his senses", "nuts", "insane"--and caricatures of the obsessive, paranoid "conspiracy theorist"--"mutter", "rambling diatribes", "stayed up until dawn", "accused me of betraying him".

Most truth activists belie these stereotypes.

Is it likely that a strong, intelligent woman who was attracted to a man with a "penchant for questioning everything in his path", who had "attended weekly 'truth meetings'" would not have developed some questions of her own?

Killclown on Fetzer

I happened to listen to these two jokers while on a ride this afternoon. I have not listened to the entire segment, but it's laughable how they stick with bogus claims that have been disproven repeatedly. At one point, Killtown talks about how they only pulled one piece of the plane out of the hole in Shanksville, something that looked like a motor. This is probably the photo he's referring to:

But of course he neglects to talk about this piece:

Why is that, Killclown? You like to bill yourself as a researcher on Shanksville and you don't know about that photograph? Either that or you forgot it because it's so damaging to your claim that Flight 93 didn't crash there. Here's another part:

He claims some new evidence that they were practicing the video fakery ten minutes before the second plane hit, which no doubt prove just as bogus.

Chemtrail Madness and Israel-Palestine War

It's all about the oil! Not our usual flavor of moonbat, but entertaining. Hat tip to dwlan in the comments.

9-11 Was a Krypton Job!

Superman did it!

Some of you may not be aware, but DC comics also produced a Superman comic in 1963 that had Superman disclosing his secret identity as Clark Kent to President John F. Kennedy. As it happened, DC had a long-standing tradition that anyone who knew a hero's secret identity had to either die or get amnesia before the end of the story. And sure enough JFK died.

Coincidence? I think not!

Elephant In the Room Part VIII

The focus of the movie turns more to the health problems of the first responders, which is not relevant to the conspiracy theories about 9-11. I take no sides on whether there are health problems with the workers on the pile; I hope that is not the case.

We do get Kevin McPadden reminiscing on the park bench he slept on while working on the pile. He apparently was assigned to evacuate buildings around the area, and:

"We're doing this and that and all of a sudden I turn around and there's no officers! We're like, huh, so we're like "What do we do?"

McPadden's an idiot with his ridiculous "Run for your life!" claims as Markyx proved with this oldie but goodie:

Troofer Wars

The 9/11 "truth" movement has slowly (or quickly) devolved to being less about the events of 9/11 to being more about, well, the 9/11 "truth" movement.  Witness this post on 911 Blogger regarding as to whether to embrace the big tent approach, meaning should they kick out the no-planers, reptilians, Holocaust deniers and others who are only slightly more kooky than your average kook.

If you haven't heard of the "Big Tent" approach before then I will give you a quick explanation of why it is an ongoing problem for the 9/11 Truth Movement. The "Big Tent" approach is all inclusive approach, that believes all people professing to be "truth seekers" should be welcomed and supported by us and we should allow them a platform to push their ideas and theories regardless of their merits. By merits I mean; are those ideas and theories supported by evidence based rational arguments that are peer reviewed and accepted as credible? The great majority of the 9/11 Truth Community reject ideas or theories that are without merit as they believe this will marginalise, dilute, confuse and isolate us as a movement. They "the Big Tenter's" feel that we "the people" can figure out what is garbage and what is not and they should be able to present their ideas and theories on an equal footing to us in the name of free speech, regardless of their quality. On the other hand do I "hope" that these people publish our proven arguments, yes and am I thankful for this service, absolutely!

The remarkable thing about this post, is not the original article, but the response.  Thus far 67 comments since it was posted yesterday, with paranoid rants like this:

disinfo is an enormous liability to 9/11 truth; nay, disinfo is the antithesis to truth. i used to think that the subject simply needed greater public attention and that if more people were talking about it then that would be an overall "positive" because it would provide more exposure to the controversy of 9/11..

I am also a critic of Zionist policies, and no, that doesn't make me an anti-semite either. Christopher Bollyn did nothing wrong here. Of course Mossad was involved!

The funny thing is, I don't think all those people could be paid debunker shills. I think most if not all of them are ordinary citizens who are fixed in their paradigm of belief; namely that any alternative interpretation of 9/11 is wacky and paranoid from the outset. Look how many posts in just the first couple pages on that thread lump us in with "holocaust deniers." Just one example: "You will have to excuse my being "presumptious" in lumping the 9/11 truthers in with the Holocaust deniers, the doubters about the Mooon landings, those who think that KAL 007 was on a spy mission and a whole lot of other eye-rolling types with only one oar in the water that have crossed my path over the years and taken me for some sort of likely customer for whatever they are peddling."

If 67 doesn't seem like a remarkable number, keep in mind that in the 19 other posts on the front page of the blog, dating back to Saturday, there are only 34 comments total.

Man of La Munchies

A poster at 9-11 Blogger makes an unfortunate comparison:

But you have pushed this voice out of your mind for a long time, silencing it's all too rational dissent, in favor of listening to the angrier voice, the rebellious voice, the human voice.

In so doing you have saddled up your steed, strapped on your armor, bid farewell to your trusty man-servant, and taken direct aim at the nearest fortified windmill. Your heart brimming with righteous indignation, your teeth clinched hard in your battle grimace, and your grip tightened upon your worn and splintered lance as your target looms into focus casting it's deep shadow on the bodies of the fallen who have made this charge before you. Their remains serve as a reminder that the predictable results have never been a matter for debate anywhere except for that one fleeting moment just before the battle between a man and his fate; that one moment when anything is possible, and you are completely and totally free.

You know, Troofers as Don Quixotes actually makes a lot of sense.

And he admits the dwindling interest in the Troof:

We may not all be destined to see the top of the hill, the view overlooking the field of victorious battle, but it is enough to know that though our numbers grow smaller everyday now, in time the human condition will win out and these dark days that we have been fortunate enough to be born into, will be forever viewed by history as man-kinds greatest test and it's most noble of victories.

This is my quest, to follow that star!
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far!

Elephant in the Room Part 7

The Alex Jones bust gets good coverage here; nice to see the fat man being led away in chains, what a disappointment that the New World Order lets him out again a few hours later. Richard Gage pops up the next morning to announce his promise that by 2008 he will have 1,000 Architects & Engineers signed up to his group; of course he only missed that by about 500.

Bob McIlvaine appears to express skepticism that the FBI could possibly have found out that the pilots were trained in the various flight schools all in "one day".

Blast from the Past

When James and I first started this blog, one of the more amusing things was getting to see the viral marketing that Dylan's followers were doing to promote Loose Change. In virtually every possible type of forum, from Danish bodybuilders to knife enthusiasts to crossdressers, one of the Troofers would pop up and start a thread with some version of the following:

Hi there, I've been reading this board for awhile but just registered today, and I find the signal to noise ratio here pleasingly high. I just watched this new internet documentary today called Loose Change, and while I don't necessarily agree with all of it, it did raise some very troubling questions.... blah, blah, blah.

The reason we saw that was because inevitably, after two responses or so somebody would say, "Go check out Screw Loose Change, which thoroughly debunks this nonsense." At any rate, the Troof spammers no longer push Loose Change, but the tactics haven't changed with the new movies:

I know the howls of protest will arise, but I happened to stumble across this (believe it or not!) while Googling around computer programming help pages.

It appears to be a serious effort by a professional group to call for a review of the 9/11 commission findings on the collapse of the twin towers, and, more interestingly on Tower 7. One piece of interest is the clip of BBC News 24 'announcing' the collapse of Tower 7 20 minutes early, to camera with a shot of the tower still standing behind the presenter.

It is a long video, just under 700mb, runs for well over an hour and originates from ae911truth.org. formed by a group of professional engineers and architects.

I would urge you to at least have a look at it - it is thought provoking, and as the guy says at the end, do not just dismiss it for reasons of "It's too horrible to contemplate" or "They wouldn't do that, would they?".

There are several ways to challenge the suggestions, but I found 'back-tracking' on the logic of the presentation led me to a rather alarming root.

Note the usual disclaimer:

Now, I'm not saying I have 'gone for it', but it is worth viewing, if only to stimulate thought in turgid brains

This is what we call over at JREF, the Mark of Woo; the claim that while he does not personally believe in the conspiracy himself (thereby shielding himself against the charges of tinfoil hattery), the poster does find the evidence presented interesting. Of course, within about 5 posts the Marked One has dropped all pretense of being on the fence and has gone full-bore "Truther".

Let me agree with Gravy on this one: Thanks, Richard Gage!

Update: Over at 9-11 Blogger, an Aussie "Truther" named John Bursill encourages everyone to be wary of "Big Tent" organizations:

In recent times a few new groups have formed that support the "Big Tent" populist approach, such as "Truth Movement Australia" for one and I would ask all of you to be careful not to get to caught up with any group that might be getting off track with ideas that lack merit!

Will Bursill and others denounce Box Boy's group? Remember, one of the main recruiters for AE 911 Truth believes that nukes brought down the towers.

Comment left by A. Fraud in the Sibel Edmonds post:

Rowley's point is that excessive cya resulted in the refusal of the FBI HQ to get the FISA warrant for Moussaoui's computer and that cya was continuing.

We are told this indicident is an example of risk aversion. Strangely such a bizarre explanation is seldom questioned. Since when did it become risky to track suspected terrorists inside the US?

Since the arrival of pressure groups eager to proclaim having evidence of "discrimination against Muslims". This is what I like to refer to as 9/12 thinking on 9/10. Everybody knows that Moussaoui's computer should have been searched now, so therefore everybody knew it then. It's the same thing as "Boxcutters, haha!" Yes, today nobody would sit still and allow a plane to be hijacked with boxcutters, but it was a different world on 9-11. Ditto with searching Moussaoui's computer; in hindsight it all seems so obvious.

Here's an analogy that illustrates the problem that the "warnings" wing of the Truthers all have. Remember the "Where's Waldo?" books of the 1990s? Imagine one kid has had the books for years, and he opens one of his favorite pages up and asks a friend to locate Waldo. And sits there fussing because his friend can't see what's so obvious to him, because he knows what to ignore.

The CIA and the FBI and the rest of the government is like that poor friend, but even worse, because in their case they don't even know if there's a Waldo on that page. They receive a blizzard of information, and most of the warnings never amount to anything. It is obvious after the fact which ones mattered, just as it is obvious to that kid where Waldo's hiding.

Even more strangely it appears the agents who obstructed the Moussaoui investigation were indeed rewarded for their efforts. Rowley and her colleagues in Minneapolis joked about a mole at headquarters. That isn't indicative of typical bureaucratic inefficiency. I would guess that Frasca, Maltbie and Bowman were following orders from someone higher up. Perhaps Watson or Pickard. Where is the media interest? Have you ever seen one of these officials interviewed? Why is that?

They joked about a mole at headquarters, which of course is a pretty good indication they didn't think there was one. The idea that there wasn't media interest in Rowley's story is a bit absurd; she was one of Time's three persons of the year in 2002. I'm not going to address the issue of the promotions and whether they were deserved or not; personnel decisions are often incomprehensible without requiring malevolent purpose.

Let's try to identify the players here. Dave Frasca was the FBI's counterterrorism chief. Spike Bowman was a lawyer for the FBI. There's a discussion at Salon from 2002 that gets to the heart of the matter:

At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday, Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., raised concerns that Frasca, head of the FBI's Radical Fundamentalist Unit, intentionally misled Senate Judiciary Committee staff in a January briefing about the case of Zacharias Moussaoui.

(snip)

Edwards told FBI director Mueller Thursday, during Mueller's appearance before the Judiciary Committee, that Frasca and Bowman failed to mention the existence of the Phoenix memo -- in which Phoenix agent Kenneth Williams urged headquarters to search the nation's flight schools for possible terrorists -- and "did not mention that the Minneapolis office had some serious concerns about the handling of the Moussaoui matter by FBI headquarters," during that January briefing.

And:

Frasca made headlines on his own this week when he told a closed Judiciary Committee meeting that, although the Phoenix memo was addressed to him, he did not see the memo until October.

But sources familiar with Frasca's testimony say Frasca was cooperative with the committee's probe, and that it remains unlikely that either the FBI inspector general or the committee will recommend disciplinary action against him. "The impression on both sides was that he answered all of the relevant questions forthrightly," said one source familiar with the committee's inquiry. "There was a feeling that the committee had a good enough understanding of what happened, and that he's taken the necessary steps to address that." The source said Frasca was "unlikely to be called again" to testify before the committee.

So at least at that point, the committee and the FBI inspector general all thought he'd done nothing wrong. And from that a conspiracy theorist draws the inference that not only had he done things wrong, but that he did them wrong intentionally so that the attacks could proceed.

The much-cited Phoenix memo was nearly a lucky mistake. Williams was actually suspicious of another Middle Eastern man who was learning to be a pilot, who turned out to be unrelated to Al Qaeda:

When the arson case was solved last June, Mr. Williams returned to his investigation of the flight students. It would turn out that he was focused on the wrong men. His primary subject, an often-strident Zakaria Soubra, belonged to a British group that espouses the creation of a single Islamic state worldwide. His lawyer maintains that Mr. Soubra is against violence, and though he was detained in May for an immigration violation, he has not been charged with any crime or connected to the attacks.

Of course, serendipity is a part of lots of busts; as the Times piece points out, had Williams not been working on an arson investigation he might have uncovered Hanjour, who was taking refresher courses at a flight school in Arizona in early 2001.

This wasn't an isolated incident. The FBI ITOS (Middleton, Corsi and Wilshire (who was at the FBI in the lead up to 9/11) obstructed the search for al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar. They blamed the Gorelick wall but that wasn't applicable because Bin Laden was indicted in 1998 giving US intelligence legal authority to investigate al Qaeda operatives. And al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar were linked to Cole attack plotters. Both the CIA and the FBI ITOS withheld information from the FBI Cole investigators. Lawrence Wright described this as tantamount to obstruction of justice in the 1st edition of his book but for some bizarre reason changed in the paperback to something less accusatory.

I'm guessing that the bizarre reason was that somebody brought additional information to Wright's attention. The FBI didn't know that al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar were in the country; they were only added to an immigration watch list two weeks before the attacks and well after they were in the country.

The argument over whether the Gorelick Wall was indeed a bar to the CIA sharing information with the FBI on the overseas activities of al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar appears to continue and break along partisan lines, which means it's far from clear.

Go down the line. DIA unit Able Danger allegedly prevented from briefing the FBI.

I don't buy the Able Danger claims.

Rice ignoring warnings from the CIA and Richard Clarke.

Clarke is noted for his self-serving statements and inaccurate memories. The fact that there were warnings is at best the incompetence argument which is something for the historians to figure out. Only a paranoid goes from arguable incompetence to intentional incompetence.

A CIA official at Alec Station ordering Rossini and Miller to withold the US visa information.

Certainly a mistake, but as History Commons notes, a mistake based on a false belief that the next bin Laden attack was coming in Asia.

She put her hand on her hip and said, ‘Look, the next attack is going to happen in Southeast Asia—it’s not the bureau’s jurisdiction. When we want the FBI to know about it, we’ll let them know. But the next bin Laden attack’s going to happen in Southeast Asia.”

NSA failing to get FISA warrants. Claiming they couldn't tell that one side of the calls going to Yemen was in the US. Failing to inform the FBI.

Tenet kept his job and stayed long enough to lie about WMD's. Received a Presidential Medal of Freedom and a lucrative book deal.

The FBI officials in question evidently received either promotions or cash bonuses.

Cofer Black kept his job and went to work for the State Department.

Hayden kept his job and received promotions to DDNI and then CIA Director.

Rice kept her job and received a promotion to SoS.

Let's grant all this. So what? Rice is gone. Tenet has retired. Cofer Black is in the private sector. Hayden's successor, Leon Panetta was confirmed the other day. If you want to argue that these folks were incompetent, go ahead; like I said that's one for the historians. But if you want to argue that they were intentionally incompetent, allowing the attacks to occur, it's just 20/20 hindsight combined with paranoia.

CSI Bloomington Reports

The Waterboy Wonder reports on his latest cunning strategy to narrow down the list of suspects:

As I mentioned before, I've also been making nanothermites myself and have shared some of this work (link above) in a way that allows people to visually see the similarities. That work of synthesizing different formulations, with the purpose of matching exactly what we've seen in the dust, will help to narrow down the list of suspects. In other interviews I've emphasized that we can do much, in conjunction with the science, to zero in on the culprits by considering the intersection of three paths. That is, 1- who had access to such technologies at the time that these explosives were likely to have been installed, 2- who had access to these highly secure buildings, and 3- who was involved in the cover-up investigations that followed? If we examine that short list and consider motives, I think we'll find those who actually committed the crimes of 9/11.

Here's a clue, Kevin. Osama, KSM and Bin-al-Shibh.

He gripes about how mean we are to him:

Most people don't know much about the official story. That includes those who you call professional skeptics, and the mainstream media. The former group are often anonymous, or have no background of any kind, and spend a great deal of time and energy putting us down in blog entries or chat rooms where, as you said, they get pretty vicious.

Maybe we're vicious because Ryan's helping to stunt the growth of the next generation with his poisonous lies:

Last week I interviewed with a 12 year old girl who was doing a project for school on 9/11 truth. I asked her if she thought the subject would bring her grief due to peer pressure. She said no, everybody talks about it.

Another Major Success for the Troof!

A kook manages to ask Ann Coulter if she'd support a new investigation. Coulter doesn't answer except to say that she doesn't have time to answer questions. And how does he title his video? "Ann Coulter Shies Away from Building 7".

The Truth is on the march and the New World Order is on the run! By my informal estimate, if the Troofers can do this 50 million more times they will win.

The Day The Real Truth Movement Died?

I hadn't talked about the plane crash in Buffalo here because it's not terribly relevant. Yes, Beverly Eckert, the wife of one of the men who died in the WTC was killed. A sad coincidence, but it's the Troof brigade that highlight coincidences in an effort to play the "what are the odds" game.

But then I read this post over at 9-11 Truth.org by Nick Levis and I realized that Beverly Eckert was what the Truth Movement should have been and claims to be. She asked questions and demanded answers. And she listened to them and learned.

Because the collapse of the Twin Towers was what killed her husband, she studied up on building materials and methods.

Q. There are still questions about how the buildings fell. One thing that went unnoticed is that the firefighters, Fire Engineering magazine was protesting that there wasn't an adequate reconstruction of the affected areas of the building to actually figure what the cause of the collapse was.

Well, of course the evidence was disseminated, I mean they sent the steel away, and by the time people realized what was being done - that (Ground Zero) was being treated like a recycling of garbage - (then) they tried to salvage some pieces and look at them and look at the steel, look at the construction, the fireproofing, evidence of lack of fireproofing and all of those things. You know the structure itself, the open truss is something that's never been endorsed by the city of New York, there's no other building that's made of that construction because it's inherently less resistant to fire...

The floors were supported by something that's called open truss, long pieces in N-shapes and they're thin. They're very hard to cover with fireproofing, you have to spray it on but there's all these angles, so many angles you can't get it on and one tiny weak spot - if you have a sixty-foot support beam, any spot that's weak makes the whole thing vulnerable. Very hard to apply fireproofing to it and once the fireproofing isn't there, it goes, like that. Very short period of time. I mean wood is stronger than steel truss. In a fire it will last longer, it is more fire resistant. And never before had they used 60-foot spans. When I was at the public hearing, a representative from the organization that makes these steel trusses was there protesting, and she said a couple of things that I thought were interesting. For one thing, it's not supposed to be used in 60- foot spans, it's used in shorter spans. And second, they made their own composites (for the WTC buildings) so who knows what was actually constructed of it. The Port Authority determined what the consistency of these trusses was going to be.

It fell like a house of cards. When did you see a building do that, unless it was being intentionally demolished? I heard the floor fall beneath my husband. I'm not going to rest until the people responsible acknowledge what they built and how deficient it was and that it caused death, it caused misery. And that they will never do it again, that somehow they're stopped. So Skyscraper Safety was started by two remarkable women, Sally Regenhard and Monica Gabrielle. They've got to the point now where there was a building code task force by Mayor Bloomberg and they've got recommendations, and there's also an incredible lawsuit with Sally and Monica to try to get the Port Authority to be subject to building codes. And that's all they can do. Another lawsuit.

Now that comes awfully close to sounding Trutherish, but it doesn't quite go over the line. And as a result, it has real power; it's not kooky. It's not nano-thermite, it's not "where are the 110 floors?" it's not "freefall speed".

She did not take the offered settlement, because as she wrote at the time, her silence could not be bought.

I've chosen to go to court rather than accept a payoff from the 9/11 victims compensation fund. Instead, I want to know what went so wrong with our intelligence and security systems that a band of religious fanatics was able to turn four U.S passenger jets into an enemy force, attack our cities and kill 3,000 civilians with terrifying ease. I want to know why two 110-story skyscrapers collapsed in less than two hours and why escape and rescue options were so limited.

I am suing because unlike other investigative avenues, including congressional hearings and the 9/11 commission, my lawsuit requires all testimony be given under oath and fully uses powers to compel evidence.

The victims fund was not created in a spirit of compassion. Rather, it was a tacit acknowledgement by Congress that it tampered with our civil justice system in an unprecedented way. Lawmakers capped the liability of the airlines at the behest of lobbyists who descended on Washington while the Sept. 11 fires still smoldered.

And this liability cap protects not just the airlines, but also World Trade Center builders, safety engineers and other defendants.

The caps on liability have consequences for those who want to sue to shed light on the mistakes of 9/11. It means the playing field is tilted steeply in favor of those who need to be held accountable. With the financial consequences other than insurance proceeds removed, there is no incentive for those whose negligence contributed to the death toll to acknowledge their failings or implement reforms. They can afford to deny culpability and play a waiting game.

And:

Q. You are involved in a lawsuit against Saudi Arabian elite defendants.

And the terrorists themselves. I certainly have not lost sight of who plotted to do this and why.

Q. Can you tell us about the lawsuit? Who are the defendants, who are the plaintiffs?

It's not the Saudi government per se. It's individuals, and from other governments as well. We call it the Saudi lawsuit, it's an overall umbrella, but there are many defendants and the idea behind it is that you can stop terrorism in different ways, and one of them is that if you take away the money, then they can't operate. They need money to come here and to live and do all kinds of things. They (the Sept. 11 hijackers) had hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions at their disposal. This lawsuit, "lawsuit to bankrupt terrorism" is how it's known among the family members. That's our goal, to stop terrorism in a very practical way. Instead of dealing with ideologies, which is very difficult to change, you can certainly stop somebody from doing something defensively, aggressively, militarily. But you can also stop it economically, by depriving them of their funds. So it's following the money trail. We do know, it's accepted now, that there were Islamic charities that contributed to terrorist organizations. And it's the responsibility of people who contribute to those charities and it's the responsibility of people who disseminate the money certainly, that it's being used for proper purposes. I hope that this lawsuit brings to light all of those avenues.

Yes, I can see things in the article that I disagree with (although much of her words come from 4-5 years ago). But if Beverly Eckert was running the Truth Movement I'd be on her side on quite a few issues.

My Problem With Sibel Edmonds

This comes up periodically as in the comments on the Melissa Rossi thread. Sibel Edmonds has some reasonable credibility to novices on the 9-11 topic. Her supporters can point to her appearance on 60 Minutes, and the front-page story about her claims which appeared in the (UK) Sunday Times last year. We know at least that she's not another ridiculous fraud like Lauro Chavez or Mike the EMT.

I don't express any opinion about her revelations on the mainstream coverage of her because they're not part of our bailiwick. But I do have some problems trusting her because of the letter she wrote to the 9-11 Commission. Looking back I can't see where I've posted about that here, so I thought I'd take care of that today.

Here's the passage that concerns me:

More than four months prior to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, in April 2001, a long-term FBI informant/asset who had been providing the bureau with information since 1990, provided two FBI agents and a translator with specific information regarding a terrorist attack being planned by Osama bin Laden. This asset/informant was previously a high-level intelligence officer in Iran in charge of intelligence from Afghanistan. Through his contacts in Afghanistan, he received information that: 1) Osama bin Laden was planning a major terrorist attack in the United States targeting four or five major cities; 2) the attack was going to involve airplanes; 3) some of the individuals in charge of carrying out this attack were already in place in the United States; 4) the attack was going to be carried out soon, in a few months. The agents who received this information reported it to their superior, Special Agent in Charge of Counterterrorism Thomas Frields at the FBI Washington Field Office, by filing 302 forms, and the translator translated and documented this information. No action was taken by the special agent in charge, and after 9/11 the agents and the translators were told to "keep quiet" regarding this issue. The translator who was present during the session with the FBI informant, Mr. Behrooz Sarshar, reported this incident to Director Mueller in writing, and later to the Department of Justice Inspector General. The press reported this incident, and a report in the Chicago Tribune on July 21, 2004, stated that FBI officials had confirmed that this information was received in April 2001.

Note the high degree of specificity:

1. Attack in the US targeting 4-5 cities.
2. Attack will involve airplanes.
3. Some of the attackers already in the US.
4. Attack coming soon.

Now, let's go to the Chicago Tribune article she cites. It's not on the Tribune's webpage anymore, but it's been archived on many 9-11 "Truth" sites like this one. Here's the nub:

Although the Asset has lived in the U.S. 25 years and speaks some English, the FBI has had trouble understanding him in the past. To guard against any misunderstanding, the two FBI agents assigned to interview him in April 2001 brought along an FBI translator fluent in his native language, Farsi.

The interview followed the standard FBI format. The agents posed their questions in English, which were then translated into Farsi. The Asset's replies were translated back into English as the agents took notes.

According to the law enforcement official, "there was talk about terrorists and planes," but no mention of when or where the attacks might take place.

It was the FBI agents' impression, the official said, that the target of the attacks could be "possibly here, but more probably overseas." The Asset also reported having heard a rumor that a plane would be hijacked to Afghanistan, the official said.

The FBI's translator, a former Iranian police colonel named Behrooz Sarshar, does not recall any mention of a hijacking to Afghanistan. But Sarshar, then a career FBI employee assigned to the translation section of the bureau's Washington field office, does remember the Asset saying the attacks might take place in the U.S. or Europe, and also that the terrorist-pilots were "under training."

So based on the article we can say the following about Sibel's specific claims:

1. Attack in the US targeting 4-5 cities. Status: False. In fact the article quite clearly states that the impression of the official was that the attacks would be overseas.
2. Attack will involve airplanes. Status: True
3. Some of the attackers already in the US. Status: False. No discussion of this in the article, and indeed, given that the belief was that the attack was more likely to take place overseas there is no reason to believe this claim.
4. Attack coming soon. Status: False. "...no mention of when or where the attacks might take place."

So, that's one out of four; not a bad average for a shortstop, but unacceptable for a whistle-blower.

Gutfeld: "Truthers" Are the Crazy Guy on the Subway

As it happens, yes, they are the crazy guy on the subway quite literally. Remember Luke and Tom:

Brit 7/7 Troofer Arrested for Perversion of Justice

Typical fruitcake:

A 60-year-old man wanted in the UK on a charge of perverting the course of justice during the trial of a number of men in connection with the London bomb attacks has appeared in the High Court this afternoon.

Anthony John Hill, orginially from Sheffield, was arrested on Carrig Street in Kells this morning on foot of a warrant issued by the authorities in Britain.

It is alleged he sent DVDs entitled "7/7 Ripple Effect" to the jury, the judge and members of the victims' families.

Will the US Troofers send Loose Change to jurors in the KSM trial?

Huffington Post Publishes "Truther" Diary

Well, well, well. Despite Arianna's (false) claims that the Huffpost is above all that conspiracy theorizing, one slipped through the cracks.

Before we tuck the Bush administration into bed and hiss, "Nighty Night, you lying scoundrels," before we go on to lock the door on that heinous era of American history, we do indeed need to probe what happened under their watch. But the event that most concerns me is what happened on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Oh yeah, that's history, old news, the 9/11 Commission figured it all out, right? Except that members of the 9/11 Commission say it was "set up to fail" and that the investigation was severely hampered. So do assorted former members of the CIA, who demand a fresh look at the events of that day.

The usual retarded cliches by the Troofers, this time burbled by Melissa Rossi, who has just written a book entitled What Every American Should Know About the Middle East. I'm going to guess that it starts out with "Muslims didn't do 9-11."

She's got a Part II to her post as well, and that's where we get the unadulterated nonsense.

As more new information has emerged contradicting the official 9/11 Commission report or appearing to fill holes in it - reports about finding the black boxes of the hijacked airplanes, inconsistencies about Flight 93 (did it explode from a bomb onboard, was it shot down, or did it indeed crash as a result of the passenger rebellion?), contradictory reports about the identities of the hijackers and other reports that point to a number of Cheney-commissioned war games ongoing that day that the Bush administration never fully brought to light - and as the weakness of the 9/11 commission itself has come into the public arena -- the Obama administration owes it to the American people to reopen that can of vipers and in this sifting through the events try to figure out what really happened to debunk the fallacies - be they conspiracy theories that don't hold water or the suffocating blanket of disinformation continually dropped on Americans by the Bush administration.

Believe it or not, she links to the old BBC article about how some of the hijackers are still alive and to the newer article which says no they aren't and says "Aha, a contradiction!"

Rossi's bio at the Huffpo indicate she's a "serious" urinalist:

A former National Geographic Traveler columnist and special correspondent for Newsweek, Melissa Rossi has been traveling the planet for years with a goal of empowering Americans painlessly by simplifying complex geopolitical affairs. Her work has appeared in Esquire, Newsday, The New York Observer, and on MSNBC, and she has written extensively about Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. She is the author of, What Every American Should Know About The Middle East.
