Burlingame Recap

In case anyone forgets, the Burlingame family already has a history with the Loosers, they had mocked her and her brother before.

Blood: And these pilots, I mean, we interviewed Debra Burlingame, whose brother Chick was the one supposedly flying that plane that hit the Pentagon–

Avery: Oh, that’s right! I heard about that!

Blood: –And of course she is a TOTAL shill for the Republican Party, she also spoke at the [Republican National] Convention. And is it ABSURD that she went on and on about how her brother was ex-military, how she knows that her brother and the other pilots fought for their lives, against these deadly terrorists–

Avery: Yeaaah, yeah. Whatever.

Blood: (mocking an Arabic accent): It is my preevilege to keel you with thees box cutter!

Avery: Ha ha!

Debra Burlingame had some choice words for them:

"The only thing they (the filmmakers) seem to have gotten right about the Sept. 11 attacks is the date when they occurred," says Debra Burlingame, whose brother was the pilot of American Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon.

"They aren't truth-tellers looking to save the world," she says. "They're con artists hoping to sucker conspiracy-theory paranoids or anti-government malcontents into shelling out their hard-earned dollars."

Bowman is a liar anyway, he has been part of the "truth" movement for years now, then when he finally gets on tv he proclaims he is an agnostic. What a wuss.

Not to mention his idiotic economic views. I posted on one of them on my other blog. He is clueless.

I have roundly criticized Bowman as well. His call for Nationalized Health Care seems particularly reckless. The idea of running as a Dem is a clear clue that he is sacrificing any integrity he may claim to have.

I agree that Bowman is odious in many ways.

However, Hannity is still playing some vicious game of Repubs against Dems. Hannity has to be one of the most duped persons in the popular media, or perhaps he simply enjoys the money rewards to be had as a lying, misleading piece of garbage.

Yes, I've listened to Hannity on his radio show in addition to H&C to have a basis to make that claim.

And I guess it's just another coincidence in a looooong line of coincidences surrounding 9/11 that he just happened to work in the same Naval Ops area in the Pentagon that his hijacked plane supposedly crash into?

And I'm sure the ex-Navy Admiral/ex-AA 757 pilot on board was just a coincidence too.

re Nationalized Health Care - the public sector already pays so much of the cost of health care, directly or indirectly. Sooner or later, they've got to grapple with it seriously. Somewhere in America this very minute there's an 85 year old with Alzheimers having open heart surgery and it'll cost about $80,000 with the pre surgery tests, and the 5 weeks paid nursing home care and the follow-ups. And don't think for one minute that we'll ever get rid of Medicare, like Bush thought he could get rid of Social Security.

Can you provide evidence that the cockpits of those aircraft were fitted with such a signaling capability? I've searched and located information on ELTs (which are self-contained units used as locator beacons), but nothing on distress signals in cockpits.

Yup, because everytime they hear a commotion they yell into the radio "WE'RE BEING HIJACKED".

It'd rather not wait in line any longer at the ER thanks. This country wasn't founded to be a nanny state, Jefferson said it was created neither to help nor hinder anyone economically.

Someone bursts through the door and stabs you...yup losts of time to enter the distress signal. If you knew your terrorism history (which you don't), you'd know that hijackers tend to keep pilots alive and have them fly the plane. That's when the distress signal is given.

Correct. On an unauthorized cockpit entry the first order of business is to control the aircraft and stay alive, if possible. Resetting the transponder is obviously secondary and is something which is to wait until the situation is assessed and as under control as possible under the circumstances.

Indeed, 7500 is only for situations where the pilot is flying the aircraft at the behest of a hijacker. If there was simply a guy on a killing spree and perhaps carrying a bomb but not issuing orders to the pilot the correct transponder code would be 7700 until given a new emergency code by ATC. I find it not surprising in the least that none of the pilots entered a 7500 squawk.

What good would it have done, Killtown? Did the crew even have time to enter it? I'm sure being a good researcher, you have an idea of what needs to be done to change the squawk code to "7500" from "2487" or the like, and how much time that would take.

Didnt the alleged hijackers pretty much storm in the cockpit and never leave? Do you think they'd let the pilots do that, knowing exactly that that's what they'd try to do??

plus the fact that at least one hijacker on each plane was a liscensed commercial pilot makes it even more likely they might know about the code

There is a lot of misunderstanding of what a hijacking code is: that's just four numbers on a transponder, which is on from the moment you're leaving from the airport. Air Traffic Control (ATC) gives you a 4 digit code, so they can track you on their radar screen. When a plane is hijacked you need to (manually) change the 4 digit code into 7500.
The hijackers, who were trained (you will find transponders in any airplane, including small ones, and you need to be able te operate them when flying), knew they had to switch off the transponder when they entered the cockpit, which is exactly what they did.

What would it matter if they DID transmit the code? Eyewitnesses reported the hijackings on the Airfones and the CTs have the audacity to claim that the government used "voicing-morphing" technology. So if the code WAS transmitted they would just say it was fake.

Also about the comment about Dan Rather, he was beaten by a homeless man who kept shouting "What's the Frequency Kenneth!" which prompted REM to write the song by the same name.

From the ABC article on 7500:

Prior to Sept. 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked four airliners and crashed three of them into buildings in New York and Washington, no transponder in Western aviation would automatically go to, or reset itself to, a hijacking code (7500) or even an emergency code (7700).

Good job, Killtown.
