255 Smoking Guns
One of my professors once said that the difference between a scientific theory and a conspiracy theory is that scientific theories have predictable outcomes. A conspiracy theory, on the other hand, can find proof in evidence, no matter which way the evidence goes. The list by our buddy Killtown "250+ 9/11 Smoking Guns" provides the perfect example of this. Some examples:
7 July '01 - Twin 400 ft gas tanks near WTC are imploded by Controlled Demolition Inc. who will later do clean-up at Ground Zero.
A demolition company involved in demolitions? That is mighty suspicious to me. The other day I dropped by a dry cleaners, and they were cleaning shirts...
40 Two week heightened security alert at WTC is lifted and bomb-sniffing dogs are abruptly removed days before 9/11.
If they are on a regular security alert, that is proof of a conspiracy, if they are on a heightened alert, well that is also proof!
102 USA TODAY reporter Richard Benedetto says aircraft he saw hit the Pentagon 'sounded like an artillery shell.'
Someone who saw a plane crash into the Pentagon, is amazingly used as evidence that a plane didn't hit the Pentagon!
201 Dec '98 - Unocal drops out of Afghan pipeline consortium.
Unocal not wanting to build a pipeline, must be proof of their complicity!
201 May '05 - Afghan pipeline draws closer to reality, Afghan President said project was a 'top priority.'
But Jason Bermas has said it is already built! Lauro Chavez even guarded it.
240 Sept 9 - Alleged Flight 175 hijacker pilot Marwan Al-Shehhi reportedly leaves behind Boeing 757 manuals, east coast flight maps, an airplane fuel tester, and a protractor in his hotel room. (Augusta Chronicle), Flight 175 was a Boeing 767.
246 Sept 13 - Student ID card of Flight 77 hijacker Majed Moqed reportedly found at Pentagon, still able to read name on it.
Well obviously evidence of the hijackers is proof that they didn't exist. I don't know how this could be any clearer.

Here's one he/she/it missed:
January 1997: As President Bill Clinton prepares to be inaugurated a second time, Osama bin Laden plans the 9/11 attacks.
This is PROOF - proof I tell you! - that Clinton was working with bin Laden, since both events happened at the same time.

Connecting the dots. Where do they point?
It points to people interpeting history as they see fit. Some see it as rambling nonsense, others like to see it as a dark and forboding existence of a conspiracy. Others see it as a reason to post on this blog. Either way it makes you think about things which is better than not thinking at all.

I especially liked reading killtown trying to start an honest debate on the LC forums to find the "real holocaust death toll"

After reading that list I'm pretty sure no thinking was involved in its creation. It looks like someone copied and pasted the LC forums into a random word generator and posted the results.
Ignoring all the other logic flaws (quote mining, out-of-date information, long-debunked rumors, irrelevancies, contradictions, etc.,) most of the media stories don't even say what Killtard claims they do.
For a good laugh, click some of his supporting links and compare what the story really says to the blurb that appears. #244 is a good example:
Killtard says: "Atta was only passenger among 81 people aboard Flight 11 whose luggage didn't make the flight and where found with incriminated evidence."
Article says: "A bag that Atta checked at the airport in Portland never made the connecting flight in Boston." Nothing about anyone else's luggage not making the flight. Note also that "luggage" is plural and "bag" is singular.
#38: "The Twin Towers were hated, poorly designed money-losers subsides by the State and weren't torn down before because of expensive asbestos removal in which 9/11 benefited the owners by efficiently destroying the complex in a way that they didn't have to pay for any of it. (Baltimore Sun, Salon, Front Page)"
The media articles say absolutely nothing about any real plans to raze the buildings. The word "asbestos" does not appear at all. The articles are mostly about New Yorkers' attitudes towards the WTC pre-9/11.
The funniest one, though is #43. "A missile was reportedly launched from the Woolworth Building near the WTC," says Killtard, citing two news articles and a NIST report.
One of the source articles, from WNBC, is entitled "Innuendo, Erroneous Reports Abound In WTC Transcripts." You can probably guess where this is going: the Woolworth missile launch is an example of one of the false reports that occured early in the day. So Killtard is citing an article that disproves his point.
I could go on, but you get the idea. The whole list is nothing but bullshit supported by more bullshit.
This is another hilarious one:
Sept '01 - 25,000 British troops ensemble in Oman near Afghanistan for 'Operation Swift Sword' and will help US in attacking OBL.
Would it be too much for him to look at a map and tell us how "near" Afghanistan Oman is. Also how many British troops will help the US in attacking bin Laden? Only a couple of hundred I believe. That is only a couple of plane loads.
And since when was "ensemble" a verb?!
Doesn't the oil pipeline in Afghanistan run through Oman? Maybe the British were there guarding it?
Yeah, it does. The underwater portion was a bitch to build, but you know, it had to be done. In fact, that's the section that Chavez was guarding. Patrolling a pipeline in full scuba-gear...now THAT's combat experience right there....
