Bermas Radio: Episode II

I managed to get through the second episode of Jason Bermas' radio show on RBN Paranoia Radio. Since it was unbearingly boring I listened while working on my accounting homework to mitigate the effect, so I might have missed something. Not much eventful, the most humorous part was when some old guy called in to complain about his rap music theme song. He said that he would report him to Stadtmiller. Who knows, maybe Bermas will go the way of Fetzer?

Once again Bermas repeated this myth that we are building military bases in Afghanistan to protect the oil pipeline we have running through the country. Remember, Jason is the "researcher". He was also hosting the show over Skype, so he got dropped about a dozen times.

Screw Loose Change actually got a slight mention in this exchange between Bermas and Do-over Dylan Avery:

Bermas: So Dylan, I just want to kind of talk to you about yesterday when we had the European division of Al Jazeera over at the house, that was pretty, uh, pretty interesting, wouldn't you say?

Avery: That was pretty interesting, I am sure that Screw Loose Change is probably having a field day with that right now.

Bermas: (laughter) Well...

Avery: Not like I really care what they say, but you know. And we lost Jason Bermas yet again. Yeah, we had Al Jazeera West over at our house yesterday. It was definitely interesting, I expected, I don't mean this the way it might sound, but I didn't expect a bunch of white guys. I mean I didn't know...

Bermas: (laughter) You didn't did you Dylan? I did, because I knew it was going to be...

Avery: Hell man, they were cool Brits. They had a lot of good things to say. They were fans of what we were doing. And they had a lot of good questions, they weren't really asking us about the movie so much as they were asking us about the media mostly. How American media, and the lack of trust in it has contributed to the success of what we are doing. Basically what I told him, is if they did their job we would be out of a job.
Actually having Al Jazeera over at your house is no big deal to me. For God's sake, your radio program is on a network sponsored by neo-Nazi newspapers and ads for anti-chemtrail organic medicines, Al Jazeera would be a step up.

Although one question for you Dylan, while you were talking with the Al Jazeera guys, did you ask them why they don't have all those 9/11 hijackers, who are still alive, on their TV programs? You would think this would be a big story in the Arab world.

I could see Loose Change selling 10 million copies in the middle east. Avery needs to get cracking on an Arab translation.

Sorry PD, I am not so eager for fame as to wish to sell my integrity by pandering to the paranoid on neo-Nazi Internet radio stations.

With your support now at what? 99%?

Give them a few days and their support will be up around 114%!

I'm almost tempted to argue with him using his own tactics. Could be quite amusing. Like an extended "I know you are, but what am I" argument. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I'd run out of patience before he got the point.

Brits work for Al Jazeera?

That's sick.

Just because they broadcast Al Qaeda tapes doesn't mean they're terrorist sympathisers.

Ofcourse not! They're just a propaganda mouthpiece for various terrorist groups and oppressive middle eastern regimes. But they're definitely not terrorist sympathizers. Not even close!

You on the other hand start with the idea of
"I hate my government so I am going to rely on bullshit conspiracies, half truths, lies, distortions to futher justify my paranoa and hate of Bush.

The sad thing is, they actually think that they ARE researching the truth, instead of simply memorizing assloads of useless quotes and incorrect "facts".

Like for instance, I just finished reading a page about "chemtrails". Heard about them before but never knew what the hype was all about before. Ironically enough, right at the top of the page in giant letter it said "EDUCATE YOURSELF". It then proceeded to tell me that what I believe to be aircraft contrails are in fact a secret government plan to spray some sort of mind control chemicals over the entire population of North America.

'nuff said.

If they had malicious intent and were intentionally fabricating evidence, I'd be all for locking them up and throwing away the key. But these lunatics actually believe that what they're doing is correct, and that their approach is the scientific way of finding "the truth".

It really is sad.

Cass, it seems to me that your argument boils down to "well, they're better than OTHER Middle East news organizations". Which I definitely can't disagree with. On the other hand, while getting punched in the face hurts less than being kicked in the balls, I wouldn't say that either one are "good".

Or to express it as a mathematical function:

Less Bad != Good

:)

Al Jazeera is a step in the right direction for the Middle East, but it's still the most biased piece of work since Pravda. Makes the BBC seem fair and balanced.

I agree that Al Jazeera is better than most over there, but Fox News is far more objective. I don't watch either on a regular basis.

pdoherty has to be a joke, right? I mean...nobody could possibly be this fucking stupid and still exist? I mean, he should've forgotten to breathe and suffocated years ago if he was truly this stupid.
