Bermas: Firemen Were Threatened, Not Paid Off

James highlighted this "apology" in the post below. But I note that Bermas has not changed his mind really; he's just attributing the firemen's supposed silence to threats rather than payoffs:

I truly believe that they were threatened in the aftermath of the event that not only traumatized a country, but still affect their lives deeply to this very day. Many of these men have families, and would do anything to keep them safe.

I think we might be misreading Bermas' apology.

I thin he meant to say that someone used the Jedi Mind Trick on the firefighters, not on himself.

You know, after the star wars beam hit the towers, Bush used the JMT on all of the witnesses, Police, Firefighters, EMT's, engineers, physicists, ETC.

The only people that the JMT didn't affect were those whose brains have a chemical balance different than most humans making them immune to the JMT or those wearing their protective tin/aluminum headgear.

It all makes sense now.

Well, if you subscribe to the theory that the three WTC buildings were brought down by something other than airplanes and fires, it's pretty obvious that the firefighters would know about it, so anyone would be left with only two choices.

Either the firefighters are in on it, as in paid off, or they are being threatened into silence. There aren't any other choices for the Loosers.

Someone should point out to Bermas and Mulligan Avery that a firefighter who is keeping silent because of threats is not really any better of a person than a firefighter who is keeping silent because of payola. They're still accusing the NYFD of going along with letting someone get away with mass murder.

Actually we never used the word back-pedaling. I want a link and an apology.

I don't agree that it's obvious that "firefighters" would know about it at all.

There was a good article in New York magazine earlier this year.

http://nymag.com/news/features/16464/

There is an interesting quote by a fireman, asked how he would answer a 9/11 poll:

"Still, the fireman said, if he had to pick a letter in my poll, it would be A.

“Osama fucking bin Laden, like Bush says. If I thought it was someone else, then I’d have to do something about it. And I don’t want to think about what I’d do.”

OK, I found what Bermas said. As usual, he comes off as an insensitive asshole. He's young. But there is an element of truth there -- there are disincentives to rocking the boat, there are elements of fear, there is limited knowledge like BG says, and then combined with that is the psychological resistance expressed by the fireman -- if it was true I would have to do something about it. I think we all feel that.

I do not think it dishonors fireman to say this, and if I am dishonoring them, that is not my intent and I apologize. And it is of course a generalization.

Lying Dylan: No I don't think fireman would put up with overt threats, as they have great physical and moral courage. But disincentives, particularly where you can't prove anything even if you think something stinks, are a different matter. If you die in a fire at least you know your family will be provided for. Not so if you lose your job.

I don't really know much about what fireman may have seen. What I think is strange is how many elevators were knocked out in the towers -- 98 out of 99 in each tower. That seems to have kept fireman from getting up to the floors on fire in time. There is also lack of radio transcripts I find suspicious - those who may know something are dead.

I know this is all speculation and we disagree, and you think I am stupid and delusional, but please don't think I don't respect and don't care about those fireman that died and are ill from 9/11.

These are people who ON A DAILY FUCKIN BASIS put their lives at risk. Bermas thinks that all of these people would be threatened and not a peep out of a single one about these threats?

It's amazing how, in Conspiracy Land, the only two possible explanations for fewer people "speaking out" is 1) they were paid off, or 2) they were threatened.

The third option, "there's nothing to speak out against", seems to be well out of their mental grasp...

I did not devise the 911 plan, the criminals did. Ask them.

I think they've been asking KSM a lot of things while he's been in captivity. A lot of the others can't be asked as they're dead.

You can't have it both ways. If the CT version is true, the firefighters' version is a lie.

What version do you go with, bg? Do you support the firefighters and the evidence, or do you support the conspiracists?

I fundamentally reject the dichotomy that you are proposing as accurately describing the evidence and the likely explanations.

When I fart, it actually sounds like an explosion. When I flush the toilet after a big one, the same.

And when the child's ignorance is shown bare to the world he resorts to a failed attempt at humor.

There are explosions in fires. Live with it. Think of all the items that explode when they're heated to a certain degree, or just plain come in contact with fire. Hell, I have several things within five feet of me that'd explode in a fire.

Stop being a baby and admit that you were wrong.

He made your ignore list because he pointed out that explosions are normal in a fire?

Wow, that's pretty low even for you BG.

What the hell happened here? I leave for a couple days and you guys get a whole new breed of weirdos infesting the blog. That's just not fair. I always miss out on all the fun :(

I point out that a CTer was acting like a child (when do they not?) and then tell him he's wrong (which he is) and I get added to the list.

I'm proud.

Does an FBI gag order equate to a threat?

Does anyone know if that gag order is still in effect?

OK. Let's, for the moment, take you at your word. You're still showing an astonishing ignorance of firefighters and of how municipal employment works.

First, the employment issue. Firefighters can't be fired for disagreeing with the "official line" about 9-11. Hell, it took 8 years to complete the firing of one of them (and a couple cops) for dressing in blackface, eating watermelon and re-enacting the James Byrd lynching-by-truck! Firing a cop or a firefighter in New York City is one of the most difficult things to do on the face of the earth.

Second, firefighters. Firefighters aren't co-workers in the sense that Bob from Sales and Ron from Accounting are co-workers. They bond like brothers. Firefighters often stick with each other at the expense of marriages. The thought that some outside force murdered 343 of them and the remainder keep silent to protect their pensions (see above) is just preposterous.

Does anyone know if that gag order is still in effect?

There was never a gag order in effect.

Weaken the structure?

What are you, stupid? The whole point of the original question was why the hell would you want to weaken or destroy the base of the tower, when it's going to collapse from the middle. Use your pea-sized chunk of gray matter for a second here! Why put bombs in the basement? Explain just ONE possible reason for it!

Perhaps you can come up with something better, of even better, why do we have a witness stating explosions occured in the basement upon the impact of the aircraft.

For all we know it could have been someones burrito blowing up in a microwave. Who the fuck cares why they heard explosions in the basement?? Unless there's a logical way to show that those "explosions" somehow tie into the collapse of the towers, the whole matter is utterly irrelevant.

Some things do not add up and no credible evidence is suplied to state otherwise.

Some things NEVER add up you idiot. But then again, you believe the '93 bombings, and the OKC bombing were all carried out by the government too. Guess I can't expect you to understand that in any major events, there are going to be things that can be made to seem suspicious.
