Yes, George Monbiot Is On Our Payroll

Sheesh, it took me long enough to find the accounting code for Left Gatekeepers, but now that I look, I do see George and Noam and Alex and Matt down there. Hey, when you're paying off 75% of the structural engineers in the world it can get tough to find the mere columnists!

You did this hit piece because your corporate masters instructed you to. You are a controlled asset of the new world order ... bought and paid for." "Everyone has some skeleton in the cupboard. How else would MI5 and special branch recruit agents?" "Shill, traitor, sleeper", "leftwing gatekeeper", "accessory after the fact", "political whore of the biggest conspiracy of them all".

These are a few of the measured responses to my article, a fortnight ago, about the film Loose Change, which maintains that the United States government destroyed the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. Having spent years building up my leftwing credibility on behalf of my paymasters in MI5, I've blown it. I overplayed my hand, and have been exposed, like Bush and Cheney, by a bunch of kids with laptops. My handlers are furious.

Hey, George, we're only pretending to be furious so we can negotiate a better deal when your contract comes up next quarter. The Loose Change boys are insisting on a bigger cut this time around and it's gotta come out of somebody's pocket!

Why do I bother with these morons? Because they are destroying the movements some of us have spent a long time trying to build. Those of us who believe that the crucial global issues - climate change, the Iraq war, nuclear proliferation, inequality - are insufficiently debated in parliament or congress, that corporate power stands too heavily on democracy, that war criminals, cheats and liars are not being held to account, have invested our efforts in movements outside the mainstream political process. These, we are now discovering, are peculiarly susceptible to this epidemic of gibberish.

Climate change? George, we own climate change. You haven't noticed that Halliburton controls 90% of the solar power industry?

Many of those who posted responses on Comment is Free contend that Loose Change (which was neatly demolished in the BBC's film The Conspiracy Files on Sunday night) is a poor representation of the conspiracists' case. They urge us instead to visit websites like 911truth.org, physics911.net and 911scholars.org, and to read articles by the theology professor David Ray Griffin and the physicist Steven E Jones.

Concerned that I might have missed something, I have now done all those things, and have come across exactly the same concatenation of ill-attested nonsense as I saw in Loose Change. In all these cases you will find wild supposition raised to the status of incontrovertible fact, rumour and confusion transformed into evidence, selective editing, the citation of fake experts, the dismissal of real ones. Doubtless I will now be told that these are not the true believers: I will need to dive into another vat of tripe to get to the heart of the conspiracy.

Heheh, welcome to our world, George! In the first few months of 9-11 debunking I was always concerned that we were going to butt up against the hard cases sooner or later, the folks who really knew their stuff. Now I know why Gravy's so confident; there are no hard cases.

For people like Chomsky, this is really "blowback" for all the stupidity he has promoted over the years. He hates the way 9/11 draws on the same logic and thought patterns he uses to villify the USA.

I come from the view that conservatives are just old white guys who lack the imagination to accept change, and change IS good. I am proud to be called a liberal BUT.. This 911 conspiracy crap is not the thinking of the intelligent liberal but is the fuzzy mind set of the “lowlife leftist” "The Liberal Rednecks" And as a liberal I have to deal with these jokers more then I would like.

You know the type? They embrace the progressive movement NOT because they understand what it is to be truly liberal and to have respect for the basic goodness of your fellow man, but because they are for the most part useless members of society. Unskilled and low of intelligence they blame “The Man” “The WTO” or “The New World Order” for their lot in life, "The only job I can get is making lattes at Starbuck for minimum wage, it’s all Bush’s fault". Rather then lift themselves up they want to drag everybody else down to their level. These same guys embrace socialism because they get to live off the skill and imagination of others.

The lowlife leftist reads lots of the standard liberal rags but would never take the intellectual step of filtering what they read and dismissing some of it as pure bullshit, all of it is inhaled and held as sacred scripture.

With the 911 truth thing thay have a way of kidding themselves into thinking they are really doing something important, Thet got the black “Investigate 911″ t-shirt and hat, They went downtown and marched and shouted all the appropriate slogans, then….. it’s back to Starbucks. It’s all just conspiratorial masturbation. Quite Sad.

Meet one of these losers in person and it’s like taking candy from a baby, it almost makes you feel bad to ruin their dreams. If you are the least bit informed it is an easy proposition to poke holes in their conspiracy delusions. Most time they run, off fingers in ears, they don’t want the informed liberal thinker, they want the true believer.

Piss off, Mr. beam-weapons-forced-the-jumpers-
out-of-the-WTC.

You know, don't you, I wasn't saying that I thought that explanation was the most likely. I don't think we know whether it was smoke (lack of oxygen), heat from fire, or what it was.

I still think the level of panic is an unresolved mystery. You agree, don't you, that it wasn't rational decision to jump.

Some have claimed that some "jumpers" were "ejected" involuntarily by explosions or fell due to unstable structures in the building.

Great, it turns out Bills grasp of human nature is about as firm as his grasp of physics, engineering, and basic logic. I still don't understand how it's possible that thousands of years after our species first developed intelligence, it's still possible to have so many regressives.

Oil bases fires usually have black smoke. The fires in Kuwait I believe were oil fires and they were black smoke

What an idiot! Do you even think about what you post first?

How much worst does it have to get before you panic? So the building is on fire and you have no way out... well at least it's not raining.

Imaging yourself in an oven and it's getting hotter you will do anything to get out even if the way out is thousands of feet off the ground. You don't make a rational decision it's just something you are driven to do.

And of course you have some real verifiable hard proof that people were blown out of the towers, You know "REAL" proof not some dude said he saw a video were some guy said he saw people blown out windows.

Exactly. These pathetic morons can't deal with real issues, like withdrawing from Iraq and dealing with its complications (I argue a withdrawal is justified but I'm mindful of the drawbacks). Instead they just glaum onto conspiracy theories because it allows them to explain away every difficult trade off. CTers are morons!
