FBI: Anthrax Case Closed

Not that the Troofers will cease yammering about it:

The investigation included more than 10,000 interviews on six continents, the report said, and F.B.I. investigators conducted preliminary investigations of 1,024 people and “in-depth investigations” of more than 400 people, examining those with possible financial motives, links to the drug and pesticide industries or a history of corresponding with the lawmakers targeted by the mailings.

In response to requests under the Freedom of Information Act, the bureau also posted on the Web more than 2,700 pages of interview notes and investigative documents to bolster its case.

Dr. Ivins, a microbiologist who had worked with anthrax for decades as part of the vaccine program at the Army’s biodefense laboratory at Fort Detrick, Md., took a fatal overdose of Tylenol in July 2008 at the age of 62, after months of intense scrutiny by the F.B.I., which had placed a GPS device on his car, examined his trash and questioned his wife and two children.

They discovered his penchant for taking long drives at night, sometimes mailing letters and packages from distant spots under assumed names. They discovered his obsession with a sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and with images of blindfolded women, hundreds of which were found on his computer, the report says.

Read it all. Sounds like a real crazy person.

"For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.

Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed."

Pat,

Just out of the curiousity, when you are saying "real crazy person" who is it you are referring to?

Oh boy, Roid Rage is going to explode in foaming-at-the-mouth hysteria over this one, since the anthrax letters are his pet conspiracy theory.

They discovered his obsession with a sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and with images of blindfolded women, hundreds of which were found on his computer, the report says.

Yet another terrorist with serious psycho-sexual issues. Also, to the dateless "truthers" reading this, please don't get any ideas from this guy. The Kappas where I went to college weren't the brightest bulbs in the universe, but they don't deserve to be stalked by Brian Good and Roid Rage.

I see you're getting seriously frustrated there, you lonely fat poofter. It was truthers who claimed it wasn't Al Qaeda, and they were vindicated, much to the chagrin of the coterie of mindless & spineless that you belong to.

From the same link:

Whether the voluminous documentation will convince skeptics about Dr. Ivins’s guilt was uncertain on Friday. Representative Rush D. Holt, a New Jersey Democrat and a physicist who has sharply criticized the bureau’s work, said the case should not have been closed.

“Arbitrarily closing the case on a Friday afternoon should not mean the end of this investigation,” Mr. Holt said, noting that the National Academy of Sciences was still studying the F.B.I.’s scientific work. He said the F.B.I. report laid out “barely a circumstantial case” that “would not, I think, stand up in court.”

Do you know when some of these lonely activities Ivins was involved in occurred? In August 2001.

The question is not whether or not Ivins was a nutball. I'm certain the FBI can locate some bestiality and child porn flicks in your apartment if they wanted to make an effort. You seem like the type. Does not make you the anthrax mailer, and it does not make you the sole perpetrator either.

I do love the way that Truthers trot out the words of presidents such as Kennedy or Eisenhower (in the case of the military-industrial complex) as if it proved their paranoia had substance.

How's that for appeals to authority that Truthers so often deride?

I am so sick of these fake/out of context Kennedy quotes.
Kennedy was an aristocratic anti-communist. JFK escalated in Vietnam. RFK wiretapped Martin Luther King because they suspected him of being a communist. Establishment figures both.

Stop rewriting history.

On climate change, accusing politicians of having ulterior motives is not the same as accusing them of a crime, which is what is implied by the word conspiracy.
A. Human activity, specifically the release of CO2 and Methane is effecting the climate and will have long term negative consequences
B. Governments will use this as an excuse to consolidate power over their economies
A & B are not mutually exclusive.
I happen to think they're both somewhat accurate and both exaggerated by various groups.

Hmm. He must have been mailing out superduper nano-thermite to a Post Office box number which was collected by a supposedly average joe (actually a secret Mossad agent) and he dropped the packages into a bin at EXACTLY midnight so it could be picked up by a beautiful woman (her cover that of of a top fashion model as she looked amazingly like Angelina Jolie) and she eventually passed over the package by sliding it under the table at the exclusive restaurant to her 'husband' (MI5 agent) who was pretending to be a lift technician, and he walked back to the Towers (expertly evading anyone who was trying to follow him) to join the hundreds of other lift 'technitians' crawling around the inside structure of the Towers.

It was all monitored by a guy with a goatee in a huge room that had a gigantic electronic map of the world across one wall, the room buried inside an extinct volcano on a small, unmapped island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

The FBI took nine years to investigate this crime. They chased down every screwball lead.

What I don't understand is that here you have a guy who worked in a government lab, so technically it was an "Inside Job". Yet the Troofers are crying cover-up.

Yes, usually this is what inside jobs are. The guy who works on security detail or someone who has been trusted with high level access.

But that isn't satisfying enough for Truthers. It MUST be one of those conspiracies that go up through the eighty or ninety levels of security above the president, maybe up to the guy who smokes cigarettes in Area 51!

I've enjoyed the creative ridicule, but I don't see any counterargument in there. Surely you don't expect me to accept this witty mockery as a substitute for an explanation of Ivins' pre-9/11 August activities? What was his foresight? Was Ivins secretly Al Qaeda after all? Why must you dodge? =)

"They're still watching porn, sir," he says.

Still? he thinks.

'Muslims are retarded, violent followers of a destructive cult that oppresses women, freedom of expression, music, culture, and this cult is just basically an murderous theocratic nightmare. A cult that needs to be eradicated, like christianity. Exceptions only confirm the rule ...

In my opinion, muslims are followers of a violent, oppressive cult. There could be 20 trillion muslims, this changes nothing about my opinion. It's a dangerous ideology of indoctrination, like ultra-nationalism ...

Where on earth did you get the idea that I think there were no muslim terrorists involved? My position is that the United States government, specifically the neocon faction is complicit, by facilitation.'

So last week, you were saying that Muslims were all deranged, violent, bloodstained lunatics driven mad by religious fervour, and now you're telling us that AQ didn't do 9/11.

Are you suffering from a multiple personality disorder, or are you just as much of a cretin as all the rest of the truthers out there?
