Washington's Blog Dumps 9-11 Truth (Mostly), Starts Getting Cited

You may recall Washington's blog used to get cited mostly by 9-11 Blogger. Run by Alex Floum, Washington's Blog highlighted the nuttery back in the day.
Director of the U.S. "Star Wars" space defense program in both Republican and Democratic administrations, who was a senior air force colonel who flew 101 combat missions (Col. Robert Bowman) stated that 9/11 was an inside job.
But lately, Alex has dropped the 9-11 Troof focus, purchased a website, added a few more posters (including Crackpot Carl Herman) and suddenly his blog has become respectable, at least among the wackadoodle left. For example, Naomi Wolf cites him in an article today:
In New York, a state supreme court justice and a New York City council member were beaten up; in Berkeley, California, one of our greatest national poets, Robert Hass, was beaten with batons. The picture darkened still further when Wonkette and Washingtonsblog.com reported that the Mayor of Oakland acknowledged that the Department of Homeland Security had participated in an 18-city mayor conference call advising mayors on "how to suppress" Occupy protests.
(Bolding added for emphasis) I have also seen Washington's Blog cited numerous times at Memeorandum, a major blog aggregator and traffic builder. The only evidence that Washington's Blog is run by a 9-11 crackpot is one of their links in the sidebar:
Truth (or Fiction?) . 911 Blogger
Of course, that's not to say they've suddenly become sane; just good enough at feigning sanity to get linked by major sites. If you know what to look for, you can see the crazy. For example, this post:
Bush and Blair Found Guilty of War Crimes George W. Bush and Tony Blair have been found guilty of war crimes for committing crimes against humanity during the Iraq war. Granted, it was not the U.S., or England or any other Western country … but Malaysia.
Malaysia, Malaysia, where have we heard of that country around here? Wasn't a former prime minister a 9-11 Truther?
Later, during a question-and-answer session, Dr Mahathir said he had doubts that the collapse of the World Trade Centre in New York was actually caused by terrorists crashing planes into the towers. He said the buildings had collapsed in an orderly manner with such military precision that it all seemed well planned. “I can believe that they (the United States) would kill 3,000 of their own to have an excuse to kill 650,000 Iraqis. These are the kind of people we are dealing with. Please don't think this is fiction.”
And yes, Dr Mahathir was part of that Malaysian panel that found Bush and Blair guilty. Glenn Greenwald was suckered into posting about it.
A tribunal in Malaysia, spearheaded by that nation’s former Prime Minister, yesterday found George Bush and Tony Blair guilty of “crimes against peace” and other war crimes for their 2003 aggressive attack on Iraq, as well as fabricating pretexts used to justify the attack.
(Bolding added for emphasis) Here's confirmation it was Mahathir:
The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal, part of an initiative by former Malaysian premier Mahathir Mohamad - a fierce critic of the Iraq war - found the former leaders guilty after a four-day hearing.

Pat,

Isn't Mahathir Mohamad an anti-Semite?

"...They [Jews] invented socialism, communism, human rights, and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong, so that they can enjoy equal rights with others. With these, they have now gained control of the most powerful countries, and they, this tiny community, have become a world power." -- Mahathir Mohamad, 2010.

"...We do not want to say that this is a plot by the Jews, but in reality it is a Jew who triggered the currency plunge, and coincidentally Soros is a Jew. It is also a coincidence that the Malaysians are mostly Muslim." -- Mahathir Mohamad, 1997.

"...The Jews for example are not merely hook-nosed, but understand money instinctively." -- Mahathir Mohamad, 1970.

"...[Jews] had always been a problem in European countries. They had to be confined to ghettoes and periodically massacred. But still they remained, they thrived and they held whole governments to ransom" -- Mahathir Mohamad, 2010.

If you can’t call a guy who argues that "Jews rule the world by proxy" an anti-Semite, then who can you?

It sounds to me like old Dr. Mahathir Mohamad would make a great candidate for the KKK or a Malaysian analogue of David Duke (ie., the "wackadoodle," fascist right).

Of course, there's nothing strange or unusual about an alleged member of the "wackadoodle left" (e.g., Alex Floum) who cites a confirmed member of the wackadoodle, fascist right (e.g., Mahathir Mohamad), I suppose. So we should move on and avoid any precise distinctions that might be embarrassing for the "wackadoodle" right.

Bill, there exists both a wackadoodle left and a wackadoodle right. But I don't have any question about which of those labels fits Naomi Wolf, do you? And that's who cited Washington's blog.

At 26 November, 2011 13:36, Blogger GuitarBill said...

Pat,

Wasn't Naomi Wolf arrested in New York during the Occupy Wall Street protests on 20 October 2011? Of course, if you have nothing but contempt for the OWS movement, it's probably a good idea to smear her as a member of the "wackadoodle left." And, of course, it's probably a good idea to avoid any mention of her dismissal of the 9/11 "truth movement." We should probably move on, because there's nothing unusual about that omission, I suppose.

That said, it would probably be a good idea to move on and avoid any embarrassing facts, because you certainly wouldn't want to lead the gentle reader to any unwanted conclusions about the "wackadoodle" right and their de facto creation and control of the allegedly "wackadoodle" "left-controlled" 9/11 "truth movement."

For example, Eric Hufschmid, a "software engineer" with family ties to Rupert Murdoch and a history of vicious anti-Semitism. Of course, there's nothing strange or unusual about Mr. Hufschmid's right wing connections or "wackadoodle" far right ideology. So responsible journalists will ignore the aforementioned embarrassing facts.

Richard Gage, a San Francisco Bay area based architect, who founded Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth in 2006. Gage is a self-proclaimed Republican.

Steven E. Jones, former BYU professor of Physics, co-chair of Scholars for 9/11 Truth up until 5 December 2006, who's described as "a devout Mormon." Jones, like Richard Gage, is a self-proclaimed Republican.

Uncle Fetzer, professor emeritus of philosophy of science and on the theoretical foundations of computer science, artificial intelligence, and cognitive science at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Fetzer, the reader will recall, is a rabid JFK assassination (disinformation) theorist, who spent four years as a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps. Of course, the Marine Corps is a hotbed of "wackadoodle" leftists, so responsible journalists will move on and pay no attention to any of Professor Fetzer's real "wackadoodle" right wing connections.

So yes, we should move on, because there's certainly nothing unusual about any of that, I suppose. It is, you know, a small world and all that. And, I suppose, you certainly wouldn't want the reader to come to any unwanted conclusions about the "wackadoodle" right.

The KKK was founded by Democrats.

RGT wrote, "...The KKK was founded by Democrats."

Actually, the KKK was founded by former slave trader and Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest. He believed that blacks were voting for the Republican Party because they were alleged dupes of the Loyal Leagues.

The KKK, however, has morphed over the years into what Wikipedia describes as a "far right" organization dedicated to "extremist reactionary currents such as white supremacy, white nationalism, and anti-immigration, historically expressed through terrorism. Since the mid-20th century, the KKK has also been anti-communist."

Yep, the KKK sounds like a hotbed of "wackadoodle" leftist Democrats to me, I suppose.

Today, the KKK is divorced from the Democratic Party. The KKK's opposition to the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s compelled them to support the Republicans. In addition, according to the ADL, the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC) has largely replaced to KKK by "[s]triking hard-right positions on such contentious issues as immigration, gun control and affirmative action," and "[w]hile not every CCC chapter may be equally extreme, all are founded on anti-minority bigotry." The CCC "has insinuated itself into the mainstream successfully enough to attract a number of prominent conservative politicians to its gatherings," including Senator Trent Lott; Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour; Mississippi state senators Gary Jackson and Dean Kirby; and several Mississippi state representatives. Former state governors connected to the CCC include Guy Hunt of Alabama and Kirk Fordice of Mississippi. The CCC maintains close ties to former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke, Mark Cotterill, Chris Temple, Jared Taylor and Paul Fromm.

Of course, there's nothing unusual about that, I suppose. So we should overlook the KKK and CCC's connections to the modern-day Republican Party, because you certainly wouldn't want the reader to come to any unwanted conclusions about the "wackadoodle" right.

Move along, nothing to see here, folks...

Guilt-by-association is valid for judging right-wing connections, but left-wing connections get the benefit of perspective?

Do you deny that white racists were folded into the Republican Party in opposition to the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s?

And what was Reagan's "southern strategy" if not an effort to harness the votes of southern "conservatives"? The same southern "conservatives," of course, who are always more than happy to supply the gasoline, wood and matches that are necessary for all well organized and sincere cross burning get togethers.

Perhaps the Republicans were merely trying to increase the scope and volume of their cake baking sales in the Deep South. Move along, nothing to see here, folks...

Again, nothing unusual about that, I suppose.

GB, the metamorphosis of southern whites to the Republican Party spanned several decades starting in the 1960s and pretty much completed just recently. I’m no fan of the Republican Party, but I don’t think there is a high level of Republican animus towards blacks today. There is a good deal of animus towards immigrants but it isn’t limited to south or even the Republican Party necessarily.

In any case, what is your objection? 9/11 conspiratoids can easily inhabit the far left or far right. Some might have been members of the mainstream left or right at one time, but it’s impossible to be a twoofer and a functional member of the mainstream. I also wouldn’t put much stock in claims by those such as Dick Gage, maybe he was a Republican at one time but like other twoofers he exists in an ideological no-man’s land today. He cites his supposed Republican leanings merely as a tactic to make it appear that he was part of "the system" but "saw the light." A lot of these clowns were long standing kooks, Fester peddled Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories before 9/11.

There is a reason Charlie Sheen is one of the few celebrities to make no political contributions, if you buy 9/11 twoof bullshit there is no reason for you to have conventional political leanings.

Bill I missed that part where Naomi Wolf dismissed the Troofers. In my archives I have "Naomi Wolf coddles the Troofers" and "Naomi Wolf, Nutbar", where she starts talking about how they shipped the steel to China two days after 9-11. She also claimed that fascism was coming to America, which, unless you're one of those goofy wackadoodle leftists who think Obama is a fascist, didn't happen, right?

Sheesh, you are certainly reminding me more and more of the limited value of the comments section of this blog.

Naomi Wolf gives WeAreChangeLA a message for 9/11 truth".

Let's see, Naomi Wolf lumps the 9/11 truth movement, and "conspiracy theorists" in general, in with other "patently irrational" theories.

So what were you saying, Pat?

"...Sheesh, you are certainly reminding me more and more of the limited value of the comments section of this blog."

On the contrary, the value of the comment section was lost when you permitted a well-known a widely despised pseudo-troofer to control the comments section.

Yes, millions of disenfranchised Americans, who are guilty of nothing more than exercising their right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, are "[c]omplete and utter morons" in the estimation of all "real Americans." The same "real Americans" who would happily deny the OWS protesters' "inalienable rights" and subject them to unjustified and grotesque police brutality. After all, the only "real Americans" are right wing, Bible-thumping trailer park dwellers who never met a billionaire they didn't love and adore. Just ask that "real American" Sarah Palin.

Sorry, wrong link.

"...Similarly, the “9/11 Truth Movement” asserts that al-Qaeda’s attack on the Twin Towers was an “inside job.” In the Muslim world, there is a widespread conspiracy theory that the Israelis were behind those attacks, and that all Jews who worked in the buildings stayed home that day...Usually, conspiracy theories surface where people are poorly educated and a rigorous independent press is lacking. So why are such theories gaining adherents in the US and other affluent democracies nowadays?...Today’s explosion of conspiracy theories has been stoked by the same conditions that drove their acceptance in the past: rapid social change and profound economic uncertainty. A clearly designated “enemy” with an unmistakable “plan” is psychologically more comforting than the chaotic evolution of social norms and the workings – or failures – of unfettered capitalism. And, while conspiracy theories are often patently irrational, the questions they address are often healthy, even if the answers are frequently unsourced or just plain wrong...In seeking answers, these citizens are reacting rationally to irrational realities. Many citizens believe, rightly, that their mass media are failing to investigate and document abuses. Newspapers in most advanced countries are struggling or folding, and investigative reporting is often the first thing they cut. Concentration of media ownership and control further fuels popular mistrust, setting the stage for citizen investigation to enter the vacuum...Likewise, in an age when corporate lobbyists have a free hand in shaping – if not drafting – public policies, many people believe, again rightly, that their elected officials no longer represent them. Hence their impulse to believe in unseen forces...Finally, even rational people have become more receptive to certain conspiracy theories because, in the last eight years, we actually have seen some sophisticated conspiracies. The Bush administration conspired to lead Americans and others into an illegal war, using fabricated evidence to do so. Is it any wonder, then, that so many rational people are trying to make sense of a political reality that really has become unusually opaque? When even the 9/11 commissioners renounce their own conclusions (because they were based on evidence derived from torture), is it surprising that many want a second investigation? -- Naomi Wolf, A Conspiracy So Immense.

Yeah, that Naomi Wolf is a foaming at the mouth troofer. I guess in your world sympathy equals complicity.

OWS is not merely confined to New York City. And it's not merely confined to the United States, where millions are protesting the unfettered greed of their right wing mis-leaders in the financial, real estate and insurance sector. OWS is a global movement comprised of millions.

So yes, "millions" is correct.

So what's 65% of 330 million?

Are we quoting polls now?

Here?

The problem with OWS is they're a Rorschach test. There are so many causes bundled up one can easily find one to be "sympathetic" to.

The problem isn't Wall Street the problem is Washington, and the 50 state governments. All of that engergy has been wasted.

It's no longer a message, it's a tactic. Worse, it's a joke.

The country has real problem, and in true 21st Century American fashion OWS is nothing more than an empty gesture.

Yeah, pretty much. I worked across the street from it (recently laid off, unfortunately) and would go talk to people and the causes ran the full gamut from the reasonable (restore Glass-Steagall and raise capital gains taxes) to the nuts (Jewish-Fed conspiracies and Maoism).

And I did say to a lot of people that the problem is not banks, per se, as they're supposed to be greedy and take risks. The problem is Washington corruption and the refusal in DC and elsewhere for government to properly regulate the banking industry.

I think MGF is to my right on the political spectrum, but I agree with his take on OWS.

And where have we witnessed this brand of behavior? I mean, after all, doesn't every troofer who ever drew a breath rely on 100% fact-free assertions and slander as opposed to real evidence?

So I'll take your inability to provide evidence as tacit confirmation of my argument.

So Glenn, if you're not a troofer, why do you behave like a troofer?

Is it any wonder, then, that so many rational people are trying to make sense of a political reality that really has become unusually opaque? When even the 9/11 commissioners renounce their own conclusions (because they were based on evidence derived from torture), is it surprising that many want a second investigation

So she isn't a truther, she just thinks the Bush admin fabricated evidence, the the 9/11 commissioners have renounced their own findings and maybe we need a second investigation.

Yup, nothing like BG's positions at all.

Let's see, I've just destroyed your alleged "credibility," and all you have are slander and 100% fact-free assertions.

And you really shouldn't misrepresent yourself as "the rest of us." Unless, of course, you want to count the voices in your head as "the rest of us."

"I think MGF is to my right on the political spectrum, but I agree with his take on OWS."

More or less, I'm a JFK Democrat, and these days that makes me a conservative for half the score card.

OWS shares the same problems of the Truth Movement.

Both lack focus.

Anyone can join.

Neither know when to change tactics or quit.

In thecase of the attacks of 9/11there are serious unanswered questions relating to intelligence, coordination between the FBI & CIA, lax immigration enforcement, and the level of Saudi/Middle Eastern influence on the internal operations of the US.

All this has been obscured by the nut-jobs with their thermite, missiles, secret shoot-downs, stand-down, and pull it orders.

Same with OWS. Those responsible for the economic collapse need to be hung. Glass-Steagall should have been reinstalled six months after Obama had been sworn in.

Great, I'm down with that.

The problem is OWS has just become a party. A Caveman party: C.A.V.E. - Citizens Against Virtually Everything. So if you're Fox News you can find the exact kook you're looking for: hippies? Check. Anti-Semites? Check. Commies,Marxists, Lenonists, Maoists? Check, check, check, and check. You can also find people whove lost everything.

The secondary problem is the cost to local communities already financially strapped. Oakland is the best example. Oakland closed four public schools last year due to budget shortfall. Oakland is 110% liberal-run, and by 110% I mean they make Che' Guevara look like Dick Cheney. The OWS side-show in Oakland has cost a minumum of $2 million. Most of the OWS crowd are white college/college-aged kids and white aging hippies WHO DON"T LIVE IN OAKLAND.

So a bunch of middle-class white kids threw a party in Oakland which will cost the children of the 46% African-American population in education, and their parents will have fewer services availible next year.

Meanwhile Sacramento is out of control, Washington is out of control, and nobody is doing anything substantial about it

Couple of observations about Troofers at work.

First: they seem to be of average competence in whatever line of work they do. But they make the mistake of believing that whatever they do has left them better equipped than most people to study 9/11. "As an engineer / architect / professor / mechanic / dishwasher, I knew the moment the towers fell that something was wrong..." How many times have we heard that?

Second: Many Troofers who are otherwise attention whores are rather secretive about what they do for a living. Some are always traveling with no visible means of support. Just saying.

I'm curious if anybody has attempted a serious study Troofer demographics. I suspect we'd find that the learning disabilities that lead one into 9/11 Truth tend to restrict one's entry into some fields, or at least limit one's ability to advance in them.

RGT, so you seem to find it strange that an architect or engineer should feel he or she has the expertise to determine whether there was something strange about the behavior of the towers? Most structural engineers were surprised when the towers fell, says NOVA.

BTW, do you happen to know of any engineers or architects (free of conflict-of-interest-generating relationships to NIST) who will say publicly that as an architect or as an engineer they feel that NIST got it right?

For your study of truther demographics you might do well to start with the 1636 architects and engineers at AE911Truth.org. Modern semiconductors consists of BILLIONS of transistors, which makes a modern semiconductor INFINITELY more complex than a skyscraper.

And you "truther" idiots want to claim that NIST couldn't possibly simulate the events that led up to the collapse of the World Trade Center towers and building 7?

You're so full-of-shit that your eyes are brown--you mad dog.

Now go play in the freeway--you fucking idiot.

Ian wants me to prove I'm not the person in the picture that someone posted on the internet. Clearly he'll believe ANYTHING.

Yup. Scraggly beard, black t-shirt, and a 9/11 truth sign. These things are an inadvertent vow of chastity.

Brian, there are two things that are really amusing about you. One is that your lies are so laughably bad. Good liars don't make it obvious that they're lying.

Also, you seem to have some dim notion of what the rest of us here (re: normal people) might find loony, and thus you try to avoid making any definitive statements "I don't know what happened on 9/11, that's why we need a new investigation".

But every so often you let your guard down and come up with a real howler like "meatball on a fork" or "smoldering carpets" or "the imminent US invasion of Canada". Of course, once we're all laughing and mocking you, you realize the mistake of actually telling us what you think.

Then you go back to your pathetic lies and start denying it, which just makes us laugh and mock you more. It's pretty hilarious.

There's no "if," goat fucker.

And I've forgotten more about electronics than you'll ever know.

Paper circuits are used to create and "test" CHEAP, quick and dirty circuits. They have no application beyond the hobbyists' garage.

Real homemade circuits are made by transferring an image to a fiberglass, copper-clad circuit board. The circuit is photocopied to a special transfer sheet that's coated with photo-resist, and then heat and pressure are applied to transfer the image to the copper-clad PC board. The PC board is then etched by immersion in a chemical bath that removes all the exposed copper. The PC board is then drilled, which allows the electronic components to be mounted to the circuit board. After the components are mounted they're soldered. The circuit is now ready for test.

Child's play.

And since when do I need to be "employable," goat fucker? After all, I'm an employer.

No, that's not what you said.

"...Ian, cardboard could certainly be used to make cars, airplanes, electronics, and bridges. The reason it [cardboard] isn't used for that is because other materials serve those functions more economically."

You've never proven that cardboard electronics could be used, or has ever been used, as a commercial product. And you've certainly never proven that cardboard costs more than say, the production of a printed circuit board.
In addition, modern circuit boards are multi-layered (to support complex interconnect schemes, which reduce the footprint of the PC board, split ground planes, etc).

How do you plan to solve that problem with a primitive cardboard circuit?

You're babbling, and cardboard electronic "technology" has no commercial application--with the exception, perhaps, of some third-grade boy's garage project.

FAIL.

At 02 December, 2011 02:15, Blogger GuitarBill said...

By the way, a printed circuit board is not defined as "electronics"--you babbling idiot.

A printed circuit board is a non-conductive mechanical support substrate designed to electrically connect electronic components via traces etched into copper sheets laminated to the aforementioned non-conductive mechanical support substrate.

Thus, a PC board is a mechanical substrate, not an electronic component.

If you can't use the proper terminology, goat fucker, why should anyone take you seriously?
