Another Reason Not to Fly Northwest
One of their pilots is apparently a first-class kook:
Field McConnell is convinced the 9/11 terrorist attacks are being covered up.
The Northwest Airlines pilot from rural Glyndon, Minn., said a second attack is imminent and conspirators already have aborted their plan once this year.
Those beliefs prompted him to begin writing for a Web site where like-minded people gather and to file a lawsuit in Fargo’s federal court to expose an alleged conspiracy.
The lawsuit, filed last week, claims Boeing Co. and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) can’t assure him that B747-400 planes are safe. McConnell, who is the process of seeking an early retirement from Northwest, claims the planes are rigged by Boeing and can be remotely detonated.
Update: McConnell has a website called Captain Sherlock.

So Boeing is now in on it too?
The Boeing theory has been long proposed by David Hawkins, a nutjob who apparently this guy is a fan of. If you search the blog we have a couple of posts on him.

I didn't know if I agreed with you about Hawkins ideas being clearly fruity. Now I believe he is fruity like a fox.

I don't buy Nico's TV fakery argument for a second, but he appears to be a perceptive observer of the Deniers.

Anybody that says something this stupid has no business piloting an aircraft, but his union contract probably protects him unless he commits some obvious safety or professional violation and even then, he is probably grounded with pay.

BG, have you ever actually just disagreed with a fellow Truther? I don't understand why you think every single opinion that deviates from yours in the movement has to be to do with CIA/FBI infiltration and disinformation. It just seems ridiculous; people disagree on things all the time without the intelligence services being involved.
They are flying missiles laden with fuel that can bring down builings without touching them. Of course he has an argument.
I met with and was filmed with Capt McConnell on 3/9/07 for three hours. I can assure you,he is quite sane. In 97 Boeing began to install QRS11 gyro chips in their aircraft. They sold 94 aircraft to China and the State dept. fined them several hundred millon,which boeing paid.The chips were originally designed for military applications, hence the State dept intervention, In 2000 Boeing announced there gyro chips would be the ultimate deterent to hijacking commercial aircraft.
They could take complete control of the aircraft from the pilot and land it safely. Boeing has demonstrated this ability dozens of times. Fields complaint was, and is, If he can not be assured of his complete control of an assigned aircraft it is considered to be unsafe. He wants Boeing to sue him. THEY WILL NOT DO THAT. Think about it, If you ran Boeing would you allow this man to defame your company. I really wish you folks would stop the name calling. He is an honorable man with noble intent. He also has over 23,000 hrs in F-4s, F-16s
and has flown in the William Tell TWICE.
David Hawkins, Well........... he seems to have ALL the answers. I suggested to McConnell that David may be involved in disinformation. He didn't rule that out. So, beat-up on Hawkins if you desire, but keep a VERY OPEN MIND WITH McConnell.
