Remember how the Troofers always claimed that Osama wasn't wanted for his role in 9-11? They appeared to have some insane notion that the FBI had no evidence connecting him to the attacks.
Well, the State Department has issued an age-progressed photo of OBL on their "Rewards for Justice" website, along with this note:
Usama bin Ladin is wanted in connection with the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and for the August 7, 1998 bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya.

If smouldering carpets is a theory for how you can get a whole hell of a lot of smoke without a whole hell of a lot of fire, that sounds pretty reasonable to me.
And if most of the structural resistance of the towers was concentrated in the core, while most of the mass was suspended in the concrete floors (particularly in the upper regions of the towers where the core was very light) then the meatball on the fork metaphor sounds pretty worthy of consideration to me.
