Just What the World Needs, Another David Ray Griffin Book

David Ray Griffin continues his 9/11 conspiracy cottage industry, with a book called, rather ponderously, Cognitive Infiltration: An Obama Appointee's Plan to Undermine the 9/11 Conspiracy Theory, described on Amazon as:

Former Chicago and Harvard law professor Cass Sunstein, who in 2009 was appointed by President Barack Obama to direct an important executive branch office, had in 2008 co-authored an article containing a plan for the government to prevent the spread of anti-government "conspiracy theories." Arguing that such theories are believed only by groups suffering from "informational isolation," he advocated the use of anonymous government agents to engage in "cognitive infiltration" of these groups in order to introduce "cognitive diversity," with the aim of breaking them up.

Noting that Sunstein's proposal has evoked condemnations from across the political spectrum--not least because it, being similar to the FBI's COINTELPRO of the 1960s, would be illegal--David Ray Griffin focuses on the fact that Sunstein's primary target is the conspiracy theory advocated by the 9/11 Truth Movement. Examining Sunstein's charge that this theory is both "harmful" and "demonstrably false," Griffin uses both satire and overwhelming evidence to show that this twofold charge applies instead to what Sunstein calls "the true conspiracy theory" about 9/11-namely, the "theory that Al-Qaeda was responsible for 9/11."

Although I must say it is rather impressive that he so quickly managed to produce a 288 page book on a little noticed 29 page paper.

In my opinion, there's nothing inherently wrong with Cass Sunstein's paper--it's an academic paper, not a covert official memorandum. That said, the myriad comparisons of Sunstein's paper to COINTELPRO by conspiracy theorist are overblown and border on hysteria.

The paper was attacked on 15 January 2010 by Salon Magazine's Glenn Greenwald; the article is titled Obama confidant's spine-chilling proposal.

Salon's Glenn Greenwald describes the paper as "truly pernicious"; however, the paper, which is far more thoughtful and less "pernicious" than Glenn Greenwald would have us believe, advocates legal means of injecting better information into the networks of extremist groups. The paper points out that extremist groups are often influenced by a shallow stream of information, and, in many cases, deliberate and calculated misinformation.

Greenwald admits "[t]here's no evidence that the Obama administration has actually implemented a program"; nevertheless, David Ray Grifter and his ilk treat Sunstein's paper and the recommendations found therein as a forgone conclusion. Nothing, however, could be further from the truth. Clearly, the paper was written to provoke further thought, not to mobilize government agents against extremist groups that promote conspiracy theories.

Conclusion: David Ray Grifter grossly misrepresents Sunstein's paper in order to give the impression that the government fears the 9/11 "truth" movement--and act of monumental egotism.

Because AE911Truth doesn't want to prosecute anybody. AE911Truth wants to sell products and solicit donations. To keep the money rolling in, they have to create the illusion that they're doing something. And this kind of self-defeating petitioning is perfect to that end.

"Not surprisingly, the government rejected our petition. But to continue in our quest for a truly independent investigation of 9/11, we need your help..."

Sickos.

I know it's hard for you to believe, Joseph, but there actually are honest and competent people in government and an official investigation doesn't have to be run by a confict-of-interest-ridden Philip Zelikow or a lying Shyam Sunder.

The WTC7 draft report claimed that the WTC7 analysis was "consistent with physical principles". That this claim was removed from the final report is an indication not only that there are honest people but that sometimes they even get their way.

I know it's hard for you to believe, Brian, but if there really were people in government willing and able to take down this conspiracy, the conspiracy would have them and their entire families killed.

To suggest that the only thing necessary to bring down the conspiracy is "honest people" is fucking retarded, even for you.

Lying again, ass? If Mineta's a "troofer," you're a "scholar," Mister unemployed janitor.

I've already proven that Mineta's testimony was discounted because his time line was off by at least one hour.

You didn't show he was off by an hour. You repeated the government's lying claim that he was off by an hour. Mineta's timeline better squares with those of Richard Clarke and the photographer than the official one does. Of course we could just subpoena Cheney's young man and ask him--but oh no, you won't allow that, fat ass. Did you ever consider doing a Wayne Newton tribute gig? Danke Shoen and all that?

Come on, SmugAss, lie again like that despicable cocksucker "Cosmos."

Norm Mineta claims that air traffic control issued a "ground hold on planes going into New York" that occurred, according to Mineta, at approximately "8:30 or 8:40 in the morning". Nevertheless, this was before the North Tower was stuck; thus, the actual decision was made MUCH later.

Right shit-for-brains! According to Mineta, the "ground hold" order was issued before the aircraft struck the North tower?!?!?!?

LOL!

And you can't understand why his testimony was thrown out?

You're an ass.

Go soak your head, ass.

Norm Mineta is a truther because he's a truther. Sometimes real truthers oppose the 9/11 Truth movement--like when it gives con artists like William Rodriguez ang bigoted nutjobs like Kevin Barrett and lying sneaky cowards like Craig Ranke a free pass.

Why wouldn't Mineta issue a ground hold order before the first plane strike? FAA had known since 8:13 that flight 11 was in trouble, and IIRC by 8:35 they's already called NORAD.

You're an ass. Clearly, you don't understand the events of that fateful morning. For example, Mineta didn't give the "ground hold" order, ass, the order was given by New York air traffic control manager Mike McCormick.

"...Regional air traffic managers on Monday offered a detailed chronology of Sept. 11, when two planes were hijacked from Boston, but refused to say more about what actually happened on the planes...Mike McCormick, air traffic control manager at the New York Center--the main control center for the area--made the unprecedented decision at 9:04 a.m. to declare 'ATC Zero,' meaning that no aircraft could fly into, out of or through the airspace over New York and the western Atlantic."

Source: Boston.com: FAA controllers detail Sept. 11 events .

Furthermore,

"...9:03-9:07 — New York and Boston regions' air traffic control officials stop takeoffs and landings. The New York Port Authority closes Newark International Airport...9:08-9:11 — Departures are stopped nationwide for aircraft heading to or through New York and Boston regions' airspace."

Source: USAToday: Part I: Terror attacks brought drastic decision: Clear the skies.

Starting to get the picture, ass? Clearly, Mineta's time line for the "ground hold" order is OFF BY 30 MINUTES. The "ground hold" order was given 30 minutes after the time given by Mr. Mineta.

SmugAss dissembles, "...I never said Norm Mineta was a 'troofer'. Why would anybody want to be a troofer?"

Aren't you a troofer--you despicable, dissembling ass?

Moreover, why did you lump Mineta in with Jones and Ryan et al?
