Meet the No-Planers

Which of these famed 9-11 researchers was mentioned in both David Ray Griffin's The New Pearl Harbor and Webster Tarpley's Synthetic Terror?

B. Richard Gage
C. Nico Haupt

The answer, of course is C, Nico Haupt. Haupt is credited with coining the most famous acronyms in 9-11 theories, LIHOP and MIHOP. Haupt is what we call around here a 0-Day "Truther" (that is to say that he suspected 9-11 was an inside job the day it happened), but unlike many others he immediately started organizing and researching.

There are not five people in the 9-11 "Truth" Movement who have been more significant than Nico Haupt. You can make an argument for David Ray Griffin, but Griffin is not a researcher. He synthesizes the work of others. Maybe Thierry Meyssan, who was the man who showed the Troofers a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Certainly not Eric Hufschmid, even though Hufschmid was the first to market a book and a movie on the conspiracy theory in the United States.

Haupt is, of course, a thorough madman as even his supporters acknowledge.

For the record, in my opinion, Nico Haupt is neither a flake, nor a neo-phyte, simply a stark raving madman and idiot savant researcher extraordinaire.

This is not exceptional in a movement that includes Uncle Fetzer as an elder statesman, Alex Jones as its most prominent face, Charlie Sheen as its big celebrity and Luke Rudkowski as a young superstar.

So why is Haupt on the outs with much of the movement he helped to found? Well, as I have pointed out in the past, it is the nature of the 9-11 "Truth" movement that it dissolves into factions over time. Haupt has come to represent what many feel is the most extreme faction of the 9-11 Truth Movement: The No-Planers.

The No-Planers are dedicated to the proposition that planes were not used on 9-11. It's a ludicrous position, but as I have pointed out in the past, almost all flavors of 9-11 "Truth" boil down to denying the planes in one fashion or another. The No-Planers in this regard are at least more honest about it.

Anyway, the No-Planers make up a significant portion of many of the more famous and early researchers in the 9-11 "Truth" Movement:

All of those names were prominent in the 9-11 "Truth" movement in its early years. One of the more amusing parts of watching the "Truthers" over the last few years is seeing what happens when a prominent person in the movement like Jim Fetzer or Judy Wood or Morgan Reynolds or David Shayler has suddenly gone "No-Planer". At first the assumption is that they just suddenly went insane (nope, they were marked as insane the moment they became "Truthers"). But then the more interesting and paranoid explanation emerged; that they were cointelpro operatives, hired by the government and seeking to discredit the movement.

Of course, this is absurd; if Nico Haupt is a government agent, then I'm a Playboy bunny. Haupt and his fellow no-planers are just like every other segment of the "Truth" movement, convinced that they and they alone have the evidence to prove 9-11 was an inside job, and that every other group is leading the movement astray. As we shall see when we talk about the CIT guys, or the Directed Energy Weapons folks.

As Requested, Smackdown of Nico Haupt

In response to this:

Earlier this week, as others have noted, Nico Haupt went beyond the pale, stalking 911 activist Richard Gage with a heavy dose of homophobia. No word of denouncement has been heard from either Screw Loose Change, where Nico posts are greeted like Moses' Tablets from Mount Sinai, or 911Researchers, a site run by Richard Seigel that promotes Nico Haupt's no-planes, TV-fakery garbage.

The post refers to Nico's "9-11 Stalker TV" show, which is linked from the above post. Nico talks about "Josephus" Cressy and Richard "Gay-ge" and other "perverts" in the movement. I'm virtually positive that the claim that Jo (Jenny Sparks) Cressy is a transgendered person is nonsense, I don't have a clue as to Richard Gage's sexual orientation, and even if Nico were right on both scores, that wouldn't make either of them a "pervert" in my book.

So here's a raspberry to Nico for indulging himself in these homophobic slurs, and another one to Jenny who has employed the same tactics.

Nico & Siegel Hit The Post

For their (Correction: See update below) research into Ellen Mariani and her husband, who was one of the passengers on Flight 175. Or should I say "alleged" passengers on "alleged" Flight 175?

How could a retired, 58-year-old deliveryman help plan the destruction of the Twin Towers? The proof, presented as a kind of "gotcha!" smoking gun, is strikingly shallow.

Linked to the Web site is a copy of a deed transferring her husband's real property to Ellen. He took it out on July 26, 2001, 47 days before the trade center was destroyed.

As further "proof" that Louis Mariani - who went by his middle name, Neil - was involved, the Web site posts the lease transferring management rights of the World Trade Center to Larry Silverstein. The lease was taken out two days before Louis Mariani put his property in Ellen's name. Aha!

Yes, I certainly agree that's rather thin "proof" of anything. But I can't feel too sorry for Mrs Mariani; she's a 9-11 "Truther" herself:

The odd thing is that the loonies are picking on Ellen. She has been outspoken in insisting that the government knows more about the attacks than it is admitting. But a source familiar with the groups says they tend to target people who fall short of their extreme anti-Semitic, anti-everything views.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but Haupt and Siegel (who are mentioned by name in the piece) have never displayed any anti-Semitism that I can recall. Indeed, Siegel's name sounds Jewish, although I don't know or care whether he was raised in that faith.

Since it's come up again in the comments, let me reiterate my thoughts on the no-planers. I disagree with them entirely on their views on 9-11. Where I agree with them is that their theories are no more wacky than those of Webster Tarpley, David Ray Griffin, and Dylan Avery. There seems to be this oddball notion among the "mainstream" 9-11 Denial Movement that no planes at the WTC is going to discredit the "roboplanes at the WTC" and "no plane at the Pentagon or Shanksville" theories. As I've said before, that strikes me as quite similar to the man dressed up as Napoleon at the loony bin telling you that the guy pretending to be George Washington over there is off his rocker.

Truther Wars Continue As Albanese Shuts Down 9-11 Researcher

This may be a little too "inside baseball" but I found it interesting. Rick Siegel put up a site a number of months ago called 9-11 Researchers that is basically a group blog for the no-planers. Uncle Fetzer posts over there, as does Nico, Coffinman, Peggy Carter (usually in the comments) and others.

The people over there do not have much use for John Albanese, who created the LIHOP movie Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime, and apparently the feeling is mutual. I remember seeing a clip of Nico marching with some Truthers at Ground Zero, and giving Albanese the finger.

Anyway, Albanese has apparently gotten some revenge by shutting down the 9-11 Researchers site:

911Researchers has accused a great many people of a great many things. IN recent days they accused me of being a member of Al Qaeda and a homicidal lunatic planning murder. The FBI and police are aware of this. The tags associated with these stories included 'gas chamber' - 'torture' - 'hanging' - 'murder' etc etc. All of this I quietly tolerated. But after a lengthy conversation with 911 widow Ellen Mariani last night I decided the time to act was now, and I decided to pull the plug on Mr. Siegel's operation. It is my hope that Mr. Siegel and the 'researchers' who support him will reevaluate their lives and consider the pain and suffering they have brought into so many people's lives with their irresponsible accusations and harassment campaigns. Simply put, attacking witnesses, first responders and 911 widows is off limits and is does not occur in a vacuum. People are indeed watching and prepared to act when that sacred line is crossed."

I suspect that Siegel will simply remove some of the stuff from the server if it really is as bad as Albanese claims, and have the site back up on another server in a couple days.

911Researchers.com was Rick Siegel and Nico Haupt's site, and promoted theories such as holograms. Rick Siegel recently sued the makers of the movie "911 Mysteries" for copyright infringement, and has allegedly made death threats against several prominent 9/11 truth activists (some of them in were purportedly made in email form).

Two obvious points; as far as I know, 9-11 Researchers did not promote holograms; Nico's "TV Fakery" is not the same thing (although it is equally insane).

I'm not sure if Siegel has actually sued Sofia, and I'd be very surprised if he personally was making death threats; he doesn't strike me as that kind of nut.

Note as well that in the comments on that post, everybody manages to avoid talking about the very real criticisms that Siegel has leveled about 9-11 Mysteries; the sounds Sofia added to cover up her removal of the WINS radio in the background, and the ridiculous identification of the North Tower collapse as that of the South Tower.

Anyway, score one for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Judea.

No-Planers Go After Willie Rodriguez

It's been awhile since we've checked in with Nico, but he did mention this post in the comments, and I thought it was worth mentioning:

William Rodriguez confirmed in his own bio, that he was actually working as an "assistant" for MindOP specialist James Randi.

Rodriguez used the stage name "Roudy", still part of his email handle.

Randi's JREF Forum is meanwhile organizing 'flagwaver' attacks against the 9/11 Truthlings, mostly influenced by 911truth.org, 911blogger.com and LooseChange.

Nico does bring up Mark Roberts' paper on Rodriguez, which puzzles him for a moment, but he comes to the 100% right conclusion:

Pushing the argument aside, that Mark Roberts would spread this analysis to 'harm the movement' because of *being a shill*, this string of logic doesn't make sense at all. Why would a 'shill' sacrifice the most important manipulator [Rodriguez] of the 9/11 Truth Movement?

Fact is, Roberts didn't make anything up and is actually just a regular "patriot" (though blindsided on the general evidence of Controlled Demolition), but his detailed timeline analysis of Rodriguez reveals factually a fraud which everyone can figure easily by himself.

Nico comes to the conclusion that Rodriguez may have been planted as a disinformation tool prior to 9-11, which of course is absurd. I agreed with him on the infiltration of the movement by cults and cultists and I stand by that opinion. But I don't buy that it's been infiltrated by agents of the government.

While reading this, though, remember that infiltration of the group by the feds is taken as a given by most "Truthers". Nico may be out on the edge with his No-Planes theories but almost all of the 9-11 Deniers agree that the Feds have agents inside the movement. This kind of paranoia is normal for them, and Nico's position here is no more extreme that that of Dylan Avery or Barrie Zwicker.

NY Denier Wars Continue

Apparently the rumors of Les Jamieson's demise as leader of the NY Denier Group were a tad premature. Nico writes:

At the latest Jamieson/Morales St marks event Luke Rudkowski and Tom Foti, who have hosted the majority of recent NY911T events at St Mark's church in recent years, as well as myself, one of the groups most dedicated activists, were not allowed into the recent St. Mark's church Les Jamieson/Frank Morales event.

After having done a great deal of work for NY911T and hosting the most recent events there aside from Les Jamieson's 'who killed the electric car?' presentation, they have refused to talk to any of us.

Frank came outside to smoke a cigarette and Luke went to talk to him but got nowhere and he quickly went in when I came around.

While Les couldn't speak, his friend Elaine spoke for him, arguing that "he didnt lie!!! he forgot about urantia!! hes been so busy with 911!" when i brought up the fact that he was a member since 1972 and he logged into urantia book readers online network spreading 911 truth in 2005 (see 2nd page of comments)...

A Message for a Commenter

A comment was left a few posts ago that I thought was worth pulling out to the front page:

If Pat and James quote something from 911bloglines--a Rick Seigel disinfo factory--all these alledged "debunkers" don't think to question it just because it's Pat and James--if a debunker says it, it must be reliable, reguardless of the source.

You really don't get blogging, do you? The point of including links to your source is so that you both present your opinion and the source of the facts/somebody else's opinion that you based it on so that people can check your work and decide for themselves whether they agree with you.

But if I quoted something from Nico's news aggregator, debunks would act as if I got it from the "Weekly World News", next to Elvis' alien love child.

You don't understand what a news aggregator is. The news aggregator is NOT the souce. It's a site that collects information from other sources and presents them in a very quick fashion so that readers and bloggers can decide what to read/blog about next. Here's the page I go to of Nico's.

It has feeds from SLC, from various sources for tags for Google News 9/11, 9-11 Blogger, 9-11 Conspiracy Smasher, DU breaking news... you name it. Convenient. Links to the original source. I can't imagine why anybody would try to recreate it (although he should add a function for JREF Conspiracy Theory topics).

For all you debunks who still don't get Jenny's "obsession", it is really that bad--Pat and James taking ANYTHING from Nico's news aggregator is the online equivalent of taking "news" from a supermarket tabloid. Even if it's true, the published source calls into question their credability.

What Nico's site says is "there's something over here you might like to read". I judge the source itself.

As for Nico himself, I judge him by his actions and not his reputation. He claimed that Les Jamieson was a URANTIA member and I rolled my eyes. Then he posted a couple links and I could see it was legitimate. And then he proved that one of the founding members of 911Truth.org was also a URANTIA member and I was flabbergasted. And so we were ahead of the curve in realizing that Les was going to get bounced in favor of Luke and Tom. Hope they can handle the LaRouchies!

So Nico has credibility with me when he's discussing fellow 9-11 Deniers. He's been around since the beginning so he would know these folks well, whereas I'm trying to catch up.

I don't agree with the no-planes stuff. I don't agree with any of you folks on 9-11. You may think that you represent the "responsible" wing of the Truth Movement, but you're almost all kooks to me, and the idea that "no-planers at the Pentagon" are somehow more reasonable than "no planers at the WTC" is just risible.

Oh, and by the way, that's what Do-Over Boy claims over at the Loose Change Forum as he prepares to jettison Killtown:

From this post forward, anyone seen promoting that theory ... first offense, 7 day suspension. Second offense, banning.

Rosie O'Donnell Harassed by 9-11 Deniers?

She may be beginning to see the downside of associating herself with these wackjobs:

A 9/11 truth organization supporting and attempting to speak with Rosie O'Donnell about her recent comments regarding the September 11 attacks outside the ABC studios were harassed and intimidated by New York City police, a scene that caused O'Donnell to prematurely leave.

O'Donnell has been attacked by Neo-Con webzines over the last few days but completely ignored by the corporate media for controversial comments questioning the official 9/11 story.

Police were out in force to harass a group of about twenty 9/11 truth movement activists, led by Luke Rudkowski of We Are Change, telling them to take down signs, turn off video cameras and cell phones, checking ID's and taking information - despite the fact that they were simply news gathering and exercising their first amendment.

Nico has more on the bizarre scene:

After a few unsuccessful attempts at the lobby entries on opposite sides of the building, finally at around 11:30 AM, 911tvfakery.net was able to get a DVD with 100 of the best 9/11 Video MashUps (incl. evidence on 9/11 TV Fakery) personally delivered to O'Donnell with help of "Freddie", a flower delivery guy, who sticked the DVD and a leaflet into a flower buquet present for Rosie and promised to hand it over...

The only thing that could make this better is if Rosie becomes a no-planer!

911tvfakery.net arrived at 9:00 AM and tried already to hand out leaflets to the waiting audience, with mixed reactions. At around 9:30 AM the local ny911 activist group around Luke Rudkowski, R Rod and Tom Foti arrived at the spot and started to deliver their leaflest and DVDS as well (911bloglines reported).

The group incl. NY911Truth and CHANGE members also tried to deliver a DVD, leaflets and a T-Shirt Birthday Present to Rosie O'Donell, but got rejected several times by security.

At around 10:00 AM ABC7 decided to call the police. 3 cars then joined the peaceful protest group, always switching between two doors of the lobbies.

Apprx. 30-40 Protestors chanted "9/11 was an Inside Job", "Stop the 9/11 Cover-Up- join Rosie's View" or sang "Happy Birthday to you, Rosie". The protest was succesfully organized withy enough leaflets, banners and DVDs.

I made the mistake of attending the gathering of tinfoil-hatters who celebrated Rosie O'Donnell's birthday and her second coming-out-of-the-closet, this time as a 911 fantasist.

Nico Haupt was there. I asked him if he was himself or one of his impersonators. He is pretty affable and was kind enough to sort out the various factions that have emerged in Twooferdom. Somewhat ungraciously, I had made a remark about "no-planer no-brainers," and was reminded that he does not believe that commercial airliners struck the WTC, the images seared into the memories of milllions of viewers being examples of "video fakery." Again displaying my characteristic tactlessness, I commented that the thousands of New Yorkers who actually watched the second plane hit from the street and their office windows know that he isn't telling the truth. He muttered something about conflicting eyewitness accounts and liars, at which point our conversation trailed off.

The rest of the small crowd (twenty or so) contained the usual loons. These strange people cling tenaciously to their thoroughly debunked factoids, each having his or her particular favorite. One guy swallows Fetzer's nonsensical fable about the "missing" 2.3 trillions dollars. I tried explaining that there's nothing to debate: he could simply read Rumsfeld's speech for himself. But he didn't want to be confused. An attractive young woman is firmly convinced that Osama continues to deny any involvement in the attacks of 9/11. Another guy said that the suspicious trading in airline stocks proves that it was an inside job. Several believe that demolition experts are incapable of recognizing a top-down demolition. And two or three of them went on and on about the molten "steel."

Mark Roberts has made it his mission to hurl facts at some of the hardest heads since the heyday of Jake LaMotta. He has more stamina than I. The whole phenomenon is amazing--and very sad.

Field Guide to 9-11 Truthlings

I've probably linked to this before, but it came across my screen this afternoon and provided a few smiles. Nico can be merciless with his scorn for the 9-11 Truthlings. Just for fun, I thought I'd check what categories I fall into:

Ooooh, they propped up the Flight Data recorder to photograph it? Oooh, they threw in some wires to make it look real? But they screwed up in a way that Killtown could solve the mystery? Am I the only person who thinks that KT looks up not to Sherlock Holmes as his role model, but to these folks:

Nico Haupt News

First off, we've got an obvious Nico imposter posting occasionally in the comments here. If you see a comment from Ewing2001, do not assume it's really Nico. Check the link under his name; if it's leads you here, it's the imposter. You can tell that it's not really Nico, because that blogger profile reads:

It's been a rough six years, but I'm turning over a new leaf. I hope many I've offended can forgive me in time.

And at the phony Nico Haupt blog, there's an apology to 9-11 Blogger.

I apologize to dz and 911Blogger for not only slandering your person and your site, but also for my inexcusable trolling before you banned anonymous posts. It was nasty and juvenile, and there was no excuse.

That this is not really Nico is obvious from this post over at 9-11 Blogger:

According to Les Jamieson, leader of the NY group:

"On Sunday Jan. 21st Nico Haupt came to our Sunday event at St. Marks Church. He interrupted it and caused a huge disturbance. When people tried to oppose him he just cursed them out. Then he taped a printout of the email below (archive) on the wall. I'm sorry for any shock or disgust you'll experience, but I think it's important that this be seen."

The email went on to include photos depicting prominent 9/11 activists and Websites - including 911Blogger - depicted as associated with nazi imagery, swastikas, concentration camps and excrement.

John Albanese, who posted the claim about Nico's actions, wants him arrested for a hate crime, which is ridiculous. There is certainly some offensive stuff on that page, but free speech allows us to be offensive. This is not remotely the same thing as spray-painting a swastika on the side of a synagogue.

Anyway, I'm going to do my best to remove the phony Nico's posts.

If you're wondering why I handle the real Nico so gently, it's because he's actually quite a bit more reasonable than many other 9-11 Deniers. He doesn't insult people here, he doesn't insult the firefighters or the passengers or their families or the pilots or Edna Cintron, or engage in Holocaust Denial. I can point out many, many instances of the more prominent, supposedly more mainstream 9-11 Deniers who cannot say the same. His news aggregator is one of my regular stops looking for bloggable content.

And I think he's dead on the money when he talks about the movement and the efforts by various cults to subvert it to their own ends.
