Cindy Sheehan: I am a Truther American

OK, not exactly news, but does this remind anyone else of the confession you always have to make at the beginning of an AA meeting?

Whatever Happened to Building Wut?

I've noticed a distinct silence from the Building Wut campaign since their last plea for donations. Surely millions of New Yorkers have been woken up, and the former sheeple are marching on New York City Hall to demand an investigation, right?

Is That Lawful?

I got a chuckle at this one. Carl Herman, a 9-11 nutbar who bills himself as the LA County Non-Partisan Examiner, wrote a series of posts on his attempts to convince people at a "conservative 9-11 event" that US wars are unlawful.

Consistent with my last two years of writing articles to explain, document, and prove current US wars aren’t even close to lawful and all based on lies, nobody at this event of mostly current and former US military could defend current US wars as lawful, even in subsequent e-mails and in their consultation with the group’s “Constitutionalist.” I challenge anyone to explain, document, and prove in the comments section below that US war in Afghanistan, Iraq, and/or Iran is legal (you can put what you say in more than one comment). I will likely demand anyone making such argument to refute my longer explanation of US war law that I will reference in my comment responses from my article, “Open proposal to US higher education.”

Okay, so I'm not really interested in debating whether the US wars in Afghanistan are lawful or not because a) I'm not a lawyer, and b) it's kind of like the debate over how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

But I did have to laugh at this part of an email to Tom, one of the "conservatives" that Carl encountered:
I agree with you, Tom, that we should not depend on our government or police, but be prepared to defend our families and ourselves. And yes, legal self-defense allows one to shoot-to-kill if under imminent threat of lethal attack. Believe me, my wife, my daughter, and I would disable or kill anyone instantly who was even a credible threat to our dog.

I am going to go out on a limb, here, Carl, and say that it is not lawful to kill anyone instantly who is even a credible threat to your dog. I mean, seeing as how you're so concerned with lawful actions and all.

Maybe He Will Stay There

Steven Jones is interested in the possibility of a 9/11 truther conference in Tehran next year.

Conference in Iran in 2011?
He referred to a conference next year in Iran, evidently to include a discussion 9/11. Does anyone know any more about this conference?

Of course one of the troofers immediately calls for him to attend:

I don't know... We'll have to try to find out more..
But we need to get you, Richard Gage and others over there to present the best and strongest evidence and not let it get diverted into false debates over whether some people let it or made it happen etc. Hopefully you guys would be willing and able to go if the opportunity presented itself. Thanks.

I am all for it. I will even help pay for a ticket. One way, of course.

Worlds Most Famous Truther Speaks

No, not Charlie Sheen, this guy.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the United Nations Thursday most people believe the U.S. government was behind the attacks of September 11, 2001, prompting the U.S. delegation to leave the hall in protest.

Addressing the General Assembly, he said it was mostly U.S. government officials and statesmen who believed al Qaeda Islamist militants carried out the suicide hijacking attacks that brought down New York's World Trade Center and hit the Pentagon.

Another theory, he said, was "that some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy, and its grips on the Middle East, in order to save the Zionist regime." Ahmadinejad usually refers to Israel as the "Zionist regime."

How Retarded Do You Have To Be?

To think there's no way the iron microspheres could have come from this:

Project Censored Kooks On Pacifica

I enjoyed listening to this MP3 of Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff whining about how they don't get any respect since they started including 9-11 Troofy Troof in their books. It takes up about half of the program, and they natter about the Bentham Open Chemical Physics journal and a lot of other stuff. Huff opines that every war that the US has engaged in involved false flag operations. Anyway, it is good to see that 9-11 Truth is becoming like leprosy: Nobody wants to touch it.

Jon Stewart: Not a Truther

Jon Stewart is holding a counter-Glenn Beck rally in Washington called "Restoring Sanity". He suggested that his watchers could bring signs showing they are not mental cases, like this one:

Well, the Troofers let out a gigantic "Waaaaaaahhhhh!
Holding a huge sign on his show saying that "9/11 Was An Outside Job", Stewart is feeding the perception that the left has better things to do than pay heed to serious questioning into the validity of the official 9/11 story. I suppose there is nothing "funny" about questioning the official story. Maybe it's time for either of these comedic geniuses to show some moral backbone and intellectual courage and bring David Ray Griffin or David Chandler onto their shows....but that wouldn't be funny....would it?

On the contrary, it would be hilarious.

As usual the best stuff is in the comments:

an outside job.

he means the Israeli art students.

Yes his ratings will suffer by his rantings!

Nitwit is one word for it...treason is another? Depends on what is inside that "brain" of his?

Laughs are not coming freely with this routine:(

Yes, if he loses the much-desired 18-25 year old living in Mom's basement demographic, what will Stewart do?

Another commenter finds that one of Stewart's former writers is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. That explains it!

Triple Crossers

These guys have been transparent Globalists for quite some time. They’re like the Zionists that funded Marxism, Capitalism and the Bolshevism all at the same time.

Those damn dirty Zionists!

But some prefer to look on the bright side:

We got some publicity.
I'll take it, considering that there is a total censorship of our side of the story.
It is better than the total blackout of references to our movement.

Even O'Reilly gave us a bit of a boost in telling the world how dangerous we are.

As the TV presenter said to David Icke, they're not laughing with you, they're laughing at you.

Hilariously, one of the shows that the Troofers intend to put their Building Wut ads on, is the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Mickey Rothenberg's nephew, Cosmos, responds:

Another commenter on the site pointed out that one of The Daily Show’s staff writers – Kevin Bleyer – has contributed material to President Obama’s speeches and is a member of the influential Council on Foreign Relations. Bleyer is also a Truman National Security fellow and one of the founding contributors to The Huffington Post, a site which strictly forbids questioning of 9/11. In the past, Bleyer has worked with Bill Maher and Dennis Miller, two other comedians who have regularly disparaged 9/11 activists. Surely this is all just a coincidence, but one that’s interesting enough to note.

The Truther/Birther Convergence

I've often wondered why there hasn't been more of an overlap between the Truthers and the Birthers (aside from, say, Phil Berg). If you're crazy enough to fall for one conspiracy theory, you're probably crazy enough to fall for another. Well, we now have another member of the Truther/Birther club, the Reverend James David Manning. As you can see, Manning is that rare type of Truther: the anti-Muslim Truther. Yep, he's worried about the Islamization of America, but he doesn't think they did 9-11.

Manning spreads his lunacy around. According to the New York Times, he advocates boycotting businesses in Harlem (presumably not including his church).

Mr. Manning, 61, has become an annoyance not only to shopkeepers, but to Harlem’s political, cultural and religious leaders as well. His goal is to force businesses to close — including those owned by blacks — causing the neighborhood’s economic rebirth to stall and, therefore, property values to decline. He has also called for a general rent strike.

Hat Tip to longtime commenter Guitar Bill for pointing this out.

Project Censored Tainted By Association with Kooks?

Actually, the kooks are in the house, not that you'd know it from this story:

Huff and Phillips noted that they are not part of the so-called 9/11 Truth Movement, arguing that urging mainstream coverage of that particular set of questions is just a small piece of their wider body of work. There are signs, however, that returning to that particular topic over the past several years has harmed some people's perceptions of the project.

One person familiar with Project Censored noted that at least two former judges had parted ways over "the 9/11 fixation ... a really weak link in the entire operation. It rearranges atomized factoids into theories." Yet the project should still be viewed as valuable and relevant, this person added.

"There is absolutely no question that they've done extremely important work over the years," noted Reese Erlich, a prominent journalist who has covered the Iraq war and won awards from Project Censored for his work in the past. "The mainstream media in this country are failing to report all kinds of issues." Yet Erlich turns a critical eye onto the so-called 9/11 Truth narrative. "My biggest gripe is that by complaining there is a conspiracy ... you take away from the ability of people to make positive change," he noted. "It gives them all the power, and the people have none of the power."

In fact, Peter Phillips has been heavily involved with the "Truthers" for years. In 2007, he said this about Steven Jones' crackpot notions:

Peter Phillips, a Sonoma State sociology professor and head of Project Censored, described the hypothesis as "serious scientific work" in his remarks introducing Jones.

Jones also gave the keynote address at the unveiling of the Project Censored list for that year. Phillips has also appeared at numerous "Truther" events and conventions. Both Phillips and Huff are listed as members of 911truth.org's website advisory board.

Beam What?

Box Boy Richard Gage, pimping the light intended to represent the "third" tower, or WTC 7:

But as it happens, the tribute in lights to the World Trade Center was photographed from many angles on 9-11 this year, and surprise, surprise, that third tower of light doesn't seem to show up.

Cindy Sheehan and Dick Gregory, Truthers

The Peace Mom comes out for Troofy Troof:

To an enthusiastic packed house at All Souls Church in New York City, Sheehan declared “I am a 9/11 truther. I do think it was an inside job.”

And Dick Gregory, who used to be a "haha" comedian and now is a "haha" nutjob:

The new forensic evidence which is being released today by Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth demonstrates the presence of controlled demolition materiel in the World Trade Center buildings One and Two.

And:

I was born on October 12, 1932. I am announcing today that I will be consuming only liquids beginning Sunday until my eightieth birthday in 2012 and until the real truth of what truly happened on that day emerges and is publicly known.

Of course, the key there is defining "liquids"; it is well-known that Cindy Sheehan, when she started her "Troops Home Fast" was drinking Jamba Juice, which is loaded with calories.

Eric Margolis, Truther

He comes out of the Truth closet with as dumb an article as you can imagine; it sounds like he gets his information from Dylan Avery:

Back to 9/11. I still cannot understand how amateur pilots could manage to maneuver in low to hit the World Trade Center and Pentagon. As a Pakistani intelligence agent told me, “if they were really amateur Arab pilots, they would have crashed into one another, not the World Trade Center!”

The arrest of Israeli “movers” filming the attack and dancing with joy, and the subsequent arrest of groups of Israeli “students” supposedly tracking the would-be hijackers remains a deep mystery. So does the immobilization of US air defenses.

The US 9/11 Commission was a whitewash, as are all such government commissions. They are designed to obscure, not reveal, the truth.

Fatty Bin Laden, "cui bono", the Reichstag fire, no airplane parts at the Pentagon... it's a cornucopia of stupid.

Why The Troof Still Doesn't Matter

Gotta laugh at this article over at Troof News, the latest attempt by the Troofers to put together a news site for "veterans". Not in terms of actual war veterans, but in terms of "Truth veterans" (i.e., those who've been lying for years).

John Albanese leads with the missing $2.3 trillion:
On September 10, 2001, Donald Rumsfeld announced that an estimated $2.3 Trillion in Pentagon spending was missing – and unaccounted for. One day later, on 9/11, the story also disappeared, along with any semblances of governmental accountability and journalistic integrity.

In the wake of 9/11, America was a traumatized nation where asking difficult questions was often perceived as unpatriotic and equated with disloyalty.

Forget the fact that $2.3 Trillion equals the GDP of Italy. Forget that the military only spent an estimated $311 billion in the year 2000 – and that approximately 7.5 times that amount had disappeared. We were at war the very next day on 9/11 – and that was all that mattered.

Now of course, a normal person might wonder what would have happened if, say, Donald Rumsfeld had been smart enough oh, not to mention the missing $2.3 trillion. And like all Troofer idiots, Albanese appears to think it was really missing. but what Rumsfeld really meant was that the Pentagon's accounting systems were out of date, and so they couldn't account for $2.3 trillion.

And of course, Albanese ignores the fact that Rumsfeld was far from the first to talk about the $2.3 trillion. Indeed, it had been reported in the news before he even took over as Defense Secretary. For example, in March 2000, when the Democrats were still in charge:

By JOHN M. DONNELLY The Associated Press 03/03/00 5:44 PM Eastern

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The military's money managers last year made almost $7 trillion in adjustments to their financial ledgers in an attempt to make them add up, the Pentagon's inspector general said in a report released Friday.

The Pentagon could not show receipts for $2.3 trillion of those changes, and half a trillion dollars of it was just corrections of mistakes made in earlier adjustments.

And in February 2001:
There's still huge accounting problems in the Pentagon. They don't even know how much money they have or are spending. The inspector general of the Pentagon said there are 2.3 trillion dollars in items that they can't quite account for.

So the idea that Rummy put out the word on the $2.3 trillion on September 10, 2001 because he knew the events of the following day would bury it is a typical Troofer fantasy. It's classic pre hoc reasoning by Albanese.

The 9/11 Truther Memorial

Generally I say that Truthers are beyond parody, but the Onion gets in some good ones every once in a while. Here is another example.

UNDISCLOSED—On a remote patch of Kansas prairie believed to fall outside the range of U.N. spy satellites, construction is finally complete on the long- awaited 9/11 Truther Memorial, sources confirmed Wednesday.

Funded by donations from dozens of websites and fringe publishers, and dedicated to "the fearless amateur research and bold guesswork" of those seeking to "expose the secret machinations of the world's true puppet masters," the 7,000-square-foot monument has already attracted hundreds of visitors.

"It was a long time coming, but at last it's here," said Don Gustaf, a blogger who drove from Cincinnati to see the site. "This will stand forever in tribute to those who lost their lives the day clandestine CIA operatives used advanced wireless technology to electronically hijack a pair of 767s and remotely fly them into the World Trade Center."

Created by a design team who chose to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals from the Bilderberg Group, the memorial has as its centerpiece the "Truth Towers," a 60-foot-tall replica of the World Trade Center that houses a museum devoted to unanswered questions surrounding the attacks. Below it lies a pentagonal reflecting pool from which emerge 18 steps leading to the base of the monument, with each stair intended to symbolize one of the 18 Great Lies of the 9/11 conspiracy.

What's Up With What

Our old buddy Boloboffin demolishes Building What.

“In any other situation, [the collapse] would be played over and over on the news.” Technically true. However, on a day when four passenger jets are hijacked and flown into buildings, when one of those planes is crashed after a passenger revolt, when two huge office buildings collapse, when Manhattan is evacuated, the collapse of a 47-story building just isn’t the hot news item it normally would be. It still was covered. It still was played over and over again on the news — not to the extent the Towers were, but it was covered by the new media. End result: Highly misleading.

Read it all. I am particularly amused to hear that they're still clinging to Kevin McPadden's ridiculous claims.

And Solomon Begat...

Kevin Ryan does some genealogy research. You've gotta love this part:

Much evidence suggests, however, that Solomon Walker of Claremont was the son of Solomon Walker and Sylvia Delano, of Maine. The recorded history of their youngest son, Solomon, is vague and suggests that he married twice to women much older than him. His second marriage was said to be to Sophia Delano (16 years older), whom he supposedly married a day after his 82-year old father had married her.[13] Although Charity Stevens was 15 years older than Solomon, she was not his stepmother.

That one needs some sort of chart, Waterboy!

Building Wut Site Launched

As I mentioned the other day the "logic" chain that the Troofers have to go through to explain why WTC-7 is part of their conspiracy theory is too long and complex. As evidence, check out their updated website. If you can see anything on the front page that indicates why people should be paying attention, let me know. It almost looks like they want to talk about building codes:

Like Judge Lehner, millions of people do not know or remember only vaguely that a third tower called World Trade Center Building 7 also collapsed on September 11, 2001. In any other situation, the complete, free fall collapse of a 47-story skyscraper would be played over and over on the news. It would be discussed for years to come and building design codes would be completely rewritten. So, why does no one know about Building 7? And what made Building 7 come down?

Just What the World Needs, Another David Ray Griffin Book

David Ray Griffin continues his 9/11 conspiracy cottage industry, with a book called, rather ponderously, Cognitive Infiltration: An Obama Appointee's Plan to Undermine the 9/11 Conspiracy Theory, described on Amazon as:

Former Chicago and Harvard law professor Cass Sunstein, who in 2009 was appointed by President Barack Obama to direct an important executive branch office, had in 2008 co-authored an article containing a plan for the government to prevent the spread of anti-government "conspiracy theories." Arguing that such theories are believed only by groups suffering from "informational isolation," he advocated the use of anonymous government agents to engage in "cognitive infiltration" of these groups in order to introduce "cognitive diversity," with the aim of breaking them up.

Noting that Sunstein's proposal has evoked condemnations from across the political spectrum--not least because it, being similar to the FBI's COINTELPRO of the 1960s, would be illegal--David Ray Griffin focuses on the fact that Sunstein's primary target is the conspiracy theory advocated by the 9/11 Truth Movement. Examining Sunstein's charge that this theory is both "harmful" and "demonstrably false," Griffin uses both satire and overwhelming evidence to show that this twofold charge applies instead to what Sunstein calls "the true conspiracy theory" about 9/11-namely, the "theory that Al-Qaeda was responsible for 9/11."

Although I must say it is rather impressive that he so quickly managed to produce a 288 page book on a little noticed 29 page paper.
