Correction: Steven Jones Does Have a PhD

Okay, Implosion World apparently goofed. I confirmed with Vanderbilt University this morning that Steven Earl Jones was awarded a PhD in Physics from that institution on May 17, 1978. I have corrected my original post on this matter.

I do not think he is tenured, as I recall hearing that BYU doesn't offer it. You can be a professor without a PhD, many are, as Dr. Jones is.

Still, it is odd that Pat could have believed that Jones didn't have a Ph.D. Isn't Jones a tenured full Professor?

So, I am commending Pat's integrity but can't avoid it that the episode says something about Pat's judgement.

1st, Jones was never tenured. BYU doesn't do tenure because that would interfere with enforcement of the morality clause in it's staff contracts.

2nd, Jones has lied on numerous occasions. When you lie as Jones has, you basically end up having to check everything he says. The PhD/not a PhD episode has resulted entirely from Jones's character flaws.

3rd, your post is the most hypocritical, self-serving bullshit I've read all day. You've never admitted any of your mistakes despite being conclusively disproven on everything you've said. I can say with extreme certainty that you are a grotesquely dishonest person.

Hey! Jones has a Ph.D.!

Can someone lend it to me? We're a little short in the men's room in the area of toilet paper.

Why is it that I crave a Payday whenever I see the name Steven Jones or see his picture?

Does this happen to anyone else?

I feel like throwing up that these kooks are sharing the same air that the rest of us breathe.

Odd that you ever believed he didn't have a Ph.D. and was a professor at Brigham Young.

Ward Churchill did have a degree to teach but he was still a professor.

I see Furrod beat me to it.

This coming from someone who beleives thermite brought down the world trade center. Heh. That's rather like Adolf Hitler accusing George Bush of being a Nazi.

Hey, I thought we were intentionally leaving in errors so people would do their own research...

Ward Churchill was even a department head, with an MA from an experimental college. I would imagine that the sciences are a little more strict in this respect than ethnic studies.

I wonder if Jones is a Mormon. He's at BYU now, there are a couple of Mormon physics profs at Vanderbilt and the Chancellor of Vanderbilt is a Mormon. I tell you it's a conspiracy.
