Eric Williams Still In, Loose Change Out At 9-11 Accountability?

James reported yesterday that Dylan Avery announced on the Alex Jones show that he would not be appearing for the 9-11 Accountability Conference. The Louder than Words crew reveal a bit more in their press release today:

Louder Than Words LLC will no longer be able to participate in the upcoming 9/11 Accountability Conference in Arizona on February 23rd - 25th, due to the involvement of Eric D. Williams who has authored a book promoting Holocaust denial, entitled "The Puzzle Of Auschwitz."

Louder Than Words LLC does not associate in any way with Holocaust denial groups, hate groups, or fringe conspiracy theory groups of any kind. We regret not being able to attend, and this does not reflect in any way our passion for seeking the truth regarding 9/11.

We apologize to anyone who was anticipating our presence.

First of all, kudos to Dylan, Korey and Jason for making this announcement. They did the right thing.

Second, this apparently confirms what Stephen Lemons has reported at the New Times, that Williams is still involved behind the scenes.

Dylan confirms it on the Looser forum:

Eric is still attached to the conference. And apparently Kevin Barret has made some off-color remarks concerning the Holocaust as well. It's a very unfortunate situation for all involved.

Subject: Fwd: Holocaust Fundamentalism - You WILL Believe--By Mark Green

However one feels about Green's perspective, and whatever the facts about WWII, it seems tragic that systematic Zionist Big Lies (we just want a homeland, not our own state; the Arabs started it; it was a land without people for a people without land; the Germans hated Jews for no reason whatsoever, just like the Arabs do now; the Palestinians left voluntarily in 1948 under orders of the Nazi Mufti of Jerusalem; most of the so-called Palestinians were not really from Palestine; the Arabs started the 1967 war; allegations of disproportionate Jewish influence in the American academic, media and financial sectors are false and anti-Semitic; the attack on the Liberty was a mistake; the Iraq war is about democracy or Saddam or US security or Peak Oil or anything except Israel, etc. etc.) have cast legitimate doubt upon ANYTHING Jews say about Jews and their recent history, including the Holocaust. As a rational person who is not a specialist in the subject of WWII, but who has studied the history of Zionist Big Lies vis-a-vis Palestine, I cannot possibly dismiss the arguments of people like Green, Irving, and even Zundel. And even if the 6-million-deliberately-murdered-for-purely-ethnic-reasons figure is correct--which it very well may be; I have grown agnostic on that after studying the Big Lies of Zionism-- I would still have to characterize the Holocaust as it is taught in the US as a hideously destructive myth. (A myth is a sacred, worldview-inaugurating story its users believe to be true.)
The upshot: nobody in the debate should be boycotted or vilified; nobody should be arrested for expressing honestly-held opinions; all voices should be heard; and the destructive myths and mind-numbing censorship imposed by Zionism must be swept clean so an honest assessment of history can emerge--at which point the Holocaust revisionists may very well be proven incorrect. And even if they are, they obviously should not be harassed or vilified, much less jailed!!
In the meantime, voices like Green and AFPN should be heard and subjected to rational criticism, not vilified or silenced. And the use of state power to enforce Holocaust Fundamentalism must end!
Kevin

Big hat tip to JREFer Maccy.

Update: But in news that may save the conference, Jim Fetzer has now agreed to appear on the "Scholars United" Panel.

Bwahahahahahahahahaha!

Update II: See also the Feathered Bastard's post on this.

Okay, maybe I'm missing something, but why do these clowns deserve "kudos". Whether they appeared jointly or not, is their "message" any more commendable than that of Williams?

Consdemo, you make a very good observation. It's a lot like the SS complaining about the Gestapo, or visa versa.

Well, it seems like the kids are finally growing up.

Yes, holocaust denial and 9/11 denial are almost equally despicable, however, with the modern college culture being what it is I can't blame people for being suckered into the 9/11 movement. It's more about peer pressure and wanting to have a cause to fight for than it is about anything else. Much like modern environmentalism and the "anti-war" crowd, it's based solely on bad science and emotional responses. Denying the holocaust on the other hand truly is a fringe movement, one which even the palestine-supporters tend not to get involved in. As such, for Dylan and Corey's age group, being involved with holocaust denial tends to be a sign of true insanity and rabid hatred, whereas being involved with 9/11 denial is just a sign of youthful exuberance and naivety.

Alex, for once I can call you a mushyheaded lefty!

I don't see how anyone can truly believe their own country offed 3K of its own citizens and not be full of hate.

Fine, be a jackass :p

I'm sure that they ARE full of hate, but that's normal for most youth. At a certain age, we're ALL full of "piss and vinegar", the only difference is in what we pick as our targets. It used to be that children and teens aimed most of their anger and energy at external threats of the nation, and at things which our society as a whole deemed a threat. Unfortunately, today's youth seem to have taken the 70's hippie movement and made it even worse, deciding that the ultimate threat to our way of life is, in fact, our way of life. If you're anti-government, anti-authority, and anti-western-society, you're a-ok with them. While I certainly don't like this development, I understand that most of it's adherents only believe in it because it is basically a fad. I also understand that a lot of them will eventually grow out of it, and look back on these days with a great deal of embarrassment. It's only the extremist motherfuckers, such as holocaust deniers and "animal freedom" zealots, who will continue to spout this bullshit once they grow up.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to turn back the clock and have our younger generations once again aim their energy at external threats. However, that's not likely to happen. In the meantime, I think it's important to understand peoples motivations if you really want to get through to them. We will NEVER be able to get through to the real zealots - most of them are simply wired wrong, and are simply incapable of rational thought. Exuberant kids on the other hand? If you know how to talk to them, you CAN (eventually) change their minds.

Bill, that's the biggest load of horse-shit I've ever read about JREF. Some asshole comes out of nowhere, makes a bunch of claims to try and make Randy look bad, offers ZERO evidence, and you ofcourse swallow the whole thing without question. Good job, gluebag. Wouldn't expect anything else from you.

Fair enough, but that is precisely my point. I think we should make a distinction here. Some people might buy into this crap because they are sick of Bush, disgusted with war in Iraq, disappointed in America’s current pariah status or whatever. However, the people that push this bullshit incessantly didn’t just roll over and become Deniers, they have had time to consider the consequences of their actions. Writing Dylan and Korey’s motivations off as “exuberance” lets them off the hook, IMO. They and all the rest of their clown friends should be identified as what they are: Dishonest, stupid and full of hate for the USA.

This was my one critique of Doc’s otherwise excellent rebuttal of “9/11 mysteries”, he assigned the movie’s makers’ motivation as financial and it may be a part but I think their primary motivation is much more heinous than that. If someone accuses you of committing mass murder, that is not an accusation to be taken lightly. If someone wants to launch it, they should be expected to deal with the consequences of their accusation.

Their motivations need to be identified, they aren’t “truth seekers”. Anyone who insists on peddling baseless theories as fact and reflexively dismisses any evidence to the contrary doesn’t give one rat’s ass about the truth. Look at the way these pathetic turds selectively quote people to make it appear the speakers endorse their stupid theories. This might not matter if the issue was something trivial, but the accusation they make is anything but trivial.

Exuberant kids on the other hand? If you know how to talk to them, you CAN (eventually) change their minds.

Again, for the people that just wander into this bs, you are probably right, although “exuberance” implies more innocence than perhaps they deserve. However, the hardcore are another story. Dylan and Korey are no different that David Ray Griffin or Barbara Honegger, they are confirmed America-hating conspiratoids. I very rarely find a conspiracy nut who can be convinced their theories hold no water because their beliefs are not based on facts from the gitgo, so you can only try to isolate them and point out to others who they really are. They may at some point wake up and come to their senses on their own, but that is no reason to make excuses for them now.

Dylan feels he is on the edge of "making it" in hollywood. Now we know, a given fact, that there is a large contingent of very powerful Jewish people in hollywood, not to mention that they tend to be pretty anti-racist as a whole out west, so it makes perfect sense that to avoid any bumps in the road, Dylan et al would try to eliminate any LC:Nazi connections...

I am not saying he made a bad decision, on the contrary they made the right call, but I am suspect of the motives.

Cons, I agree with most of what you say, but at the same time...well, I think the key lies here:

If someone accuses you of committing mass murder, that is not an accusation to be taken lightly.

See, me and you understand that. But the Loose Change retards? They have no concept of just how serious these accusations are. They're too stupid to know better. If it were ME making such accusations, I wouldn't just be making videos and bitching on the net. If I had good evidence that someone in my government had murdered 3,000 of my fellow citizens, I'd be buying guns and organizing a revolution! That's because to me it is VERY serious, whereas to these ass-clowns it's just a way to be popular and meet chicks.

Oh, absolutely. He, and Bermas even more so, have been getting loonier lately, not saner. I can just see them on the phone to Williams assuring him that this is just tactical while they await their studio contract, that they're still on the team, that this will be better for everybody in just a few months after they go national, etc.

I don't believe for a second that Dylan has any actual moral difficulties with holocaust deniers. He's had too many of them as rock stars at his forums.

Alex puts his finger on something I've always suspected about LTW; they don't really understand what they're saying. I read an interview with Dylan once where he talked about "bringing these bastards to justice" - that's not the phrasing of a serious campaigner, that's the phrasing of someone who's watched too many cop shows.

Loose Change started off as a fictional film and it still is, not just in the sense of its inaccuracies, but in the sense that its creators seem more concerned with promoting themselves as the big heroes of the hour than any kind of investigative journalism. They're all starring in their own crappy remake of All The President's Men, and if you point out that they're making serious allegations that they can't support, well... don't spoil our fun, man!

The idea of Dylan's subsequent Hollywood career makes me laugh, too. I predict that, even if some bizarre fluke makes Loose Change Final Cut profitable, the rest of his career will make those Blair Witch Project guys look like Clint Eastwood in terms of longevity.

TAM, I totally agree with you. I think Avery ultimately made the right decision, but what took so long? First, he was going to go to the conference because he had to much invested and simply state a disclaimer. This tells me money comes before doing the right thing. I think he finally came to the realization that his producers wouldn't like the fact that he was associating himself with a Holocaust denier in any way, shape, or form.
